I’m back after a good night’s rest
Yesterday my cousin, Willow, and I headed to the beach for the day!
Isn’t she pretty?
We brought bikes with us because there’s a path that goes all along the beach for miles and miles. I loveeeee biking outside on a pretty day.
We spent the day tooling around on the bikes, playing on the beach, and walking around taking in all the action (and taking pictures, of course!).
We started in Santa Monica and ended up biking down to Venice Beach, which is where my new favorite photo that I posted last night was taken.
It seriously could not have been more amazing weather. I’m a little unsure why everyone doesn’t move to California (myself included).
Mountains plus beach = amazing.
Venice Beach was also really cool because there was so much entertainment everywhere you looked. A huge highlight of the day was stopping to watch a group of these AMAZING skateboarders in action.
There was a huge crowd hanging out, and the main attraction was this little 10 year old boy (above in the black shirt) who was freaking AWESOME. I’m serious, we’ll definitely be seeing this kid at the X Games in like two years.
I even took a video so you guys could see this, too
Amazing, right!?
Other entertainment included these fun swings:
And this cool grassy area where people were practicing yoga, break dancing, showing off amazing dancing lifts, etc. It was so fun to watch!
Creativity was in the air… I felt inspired
Willow and I ended back at the Santa Monica pier just in time for the sunset!
Clearly we took a ride on the Ferris wheel
It was a gorgeous sunset!
It’s looking like another beautiful day here in Los Angeles! Willow and I are going to take a quick run and then the two of us are heading to Hollywood for the day with my cousin Derek for some serious sightseeing!
Have a lovely day, friends!

p.s. In food news, I put up the recipe for the amazing Lemon Garlic String Beans that I made for dinner at Jenna’s friend Hardy’s place the other night. A few of you were asking for it so just a heads up!

Those beach scenes are SO GORGEOUS! I am super jealous!
wow, those pictures are AMAZING! made me want to move there immediately too
Thanks for the recipe, too, i was needing inspiration for a great veggie dish tonight!
Don’t come home! It seriously is sooooooooooooooo freezing! I am super jealous but glad that you are having an amazing time
!
My Hood!!!!! I just got back into town this morning and could not have been more excited to be back on this warm and always in the 70′s coast. If you’re staying somewhere in the santa monica area let me know and we can meet up for drinks or a bike ride tomorrow!
Silly blogging question – how did you embed the YouTube vid into your post? That ferris wheel shot is so pretty, I love bike rides in new cities!
hiya! i stumbled upon your blog a little while ago, but haven’t commented yet. this post is bringing it out in me though! =)
i was so lucky to be able to spend a year living in Malibu with my cousins, and these photos are taking me right back (you take great photos in general by the way)… you can really soak in the sun and fun in SoCal!!
but to answer your question about why everyone isn’t moving there… in the end, for me, i like seasons. you don’t have them there… sunny and 75… sunny and 80… sunny and 78. eventually, it’s BORING!
if you haven’t yet, make sure you hit up an “urth caffe” while you’re in that area. it is yummy and to me is the epitome of the healthy, eat outside on the sunny patio, LA lunch spot!

Looks gorgeous. I’m so jealous of that weather. We have a wind chill of 18 here in Georgia. Yes, Georgia.
So pretty!!
Venice Beach is pretty awesome. I love all of the really unique restaurants and shops on the pier. Hubby and I ate at such a really cool authentic italian place on Venice. Loved it!
Glad you had a remarkable day in the sun.
Love your blog Anne! Jennifer’s father and I met in the same area that you are talking about!
STUNNING photos! Totes made me smile. Btw, new reader, and I love this blog
What a beautiful day! I’ve never been to CA but the more I hear about it, the more I’m thinking a visit is required =)
I have to go to Venice Beach! What an eclectic and cool place. I can’t wait to make the lemon string beans. Yummy!
