Look what came in the mail yesterday!!
Sorry, that was a tease. It’s not a digital… it’s my old camera from high school photography class!! My mom found it the other day at home and mailed it to me. I totally forgot about this thing… how cool! Did any of you take photography class? I remember LOVING that class in high school! So much fun developing things in the dark room and coming up with creative pictures I also remember it being awesome because we were allowed to wander around outside (on school grounds) to get photos. This usually involved sneaking over to Starbucks as well…
Anyway, I’m going to try to sell it online and put the money towards a new version… I love taking photos and reeeeeeally want one of the nice manual digital cameras! If you have one, do you think it’s worth it? Which kind should I get?
In other news, my dad is in town this week! We met up last night for dinner downtown, and I just have to share because it was SO delicious! We went to The Jockey Club, which is the fine dining restaurant inside the Fairfax Hotel in Dupont. I was really impressed — not only with their food but also their service!
I started with the Belgian Endive Salad, which was endive, poached pears, toasted walnuts, blue cheese, and sherry vinaigrette. I’m normally not a huge blue cheese fan but this was absolutely AMAZING.
p.s. How the heck do you pronounce “endive”? I keep going back and forth between “EN-dive” and “Ahn-deeve”… lol.
My dad had the Asparagus Soup — I had a taste and it was great! Very rich and creamy and bright green which is always fun (That lump in there is minced mushrooms!)
For our entrees, we both ordered the special of the day — the Dover Sole, which was filleted tableside and came served with potato and steamed veggies.
It was really cool to watch them fillet it so skillfully!
Mmmm… not a single bone!
This was amazingly flavorful and delicious! The veggies were great, too — not too buttery and very fresh. That’s one of my pet peeves — super buttery, soggy, overcooked veggies. What’s the point, right?! The potato wasn’t anything special so I left that to save room for dessert
For dessert, we shared the Vanilla SoufflÃ©:
Which was incredible! It came with a warm vanilla sauce poured on top and was hot and bread pudding-like — mmmm.

This was almost like pineapple ravioli! Instead of pasta, they placed slivers of pineapple over chopped berries and fresh basil, which sounds weird but was actually amazing with the fruit!

I’ve spent the morning studying (Anatomy & Physiology lab test this afternoon… boooo!) and now I’m heading to the gym for my favorite Pilates/Yoga mix class. There will also be some outside walking with flashcards happening later today… it’s beautiful out!
