Happy Earth Day!
I celebrated by going for a run on my favorite trail in between studying (yet another Anatomy & Physiology test this afternoon… never ending!).
Per my new half marathon training plan, I was running three miles today, and I decided to try to make them as speedy as possible!
I ended up running 3 miles in 23:52, for an average pace of 7:57!!!
Stats:
- Mile 1: 8:09
- Mile 2: 7:50
- Mile 3: 7:52
Woohoo!! This was HARD — I was huffing and puffing by the end but I was NOT going to slow down!
What’s your typical running pace? Depending on the distance (and hills), I’m normally at around 8:30-8:45. In the fall I was around 9 — I’m getting faster!
I just refueled with one of my favorites — my Tuna Salad with a Healthy Twist on a whole wheat pita with some spinach:
And a big ole salad — classic and simple — just mixed greens, avocado, green pepper, and tomato, topped with a drizzle of olive oil, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and some sea salt & cracked pepper. Sadly I’m out of feta
The horror!!!!
And now it’s time to get back to studying — but first, I’ve chosen a new winner for my Oikos Greek Yogurt & Reusable Grocery Bag giveaway!! The original winner never sent me her contact info — you snooze, you lose!!
The new winner is…
Commenter #5, Ashley!
Congrats, Ashley!! Please send your full name and mailing address to me at fannetasticfood@gmail.com and I will have Stonyfield get your prize pack out to you right away!
Have a great rest of your day, everyone!

what a great run! my average (when i can run) pace is about 9:30-10…not fast, but works for me!
What a fANNEtastic run (I crack myself up…). Seriously, those are awesome times! Congrats!
Ah, love me some Tempo runs!! Next time, give yourself a warm-up and cool-down at a Slooow pace (so, if you’re tempo pace goal is ~7:50, warm up around 9 – 9:30s) and the middle miles at a faster pace are a little “easier” to bust out!
good job with the run. I managed to eek out a PR for a 5k distance the other day shaving 30 seconds off my previous record. It felt so good – well, it hurt a little but then felt good. I manage 3.1 in 23:45. Never in a million years would I have thought I could have done that. So kudos to you!!!!
Good for you girl!
Beautiful trail! And fantastic time!! My “happy pace”, the pace I fall into when I’m not paying a lick of attention, is around 11:00. I usually try to keep it in the single digits though and most my runs average around 9:30 – 10:00. I’m still trying to determine what my race pace is for different distances. I’m hoping a 10:00 marathon pace isn’t too optomistic!
Definitely not. You can do it!
Wow awesome run time! I did 3 miler this morning too and my pace was 8:44 which is up from 9:40 the first run I started tracking 8 runs ago. I’m on track for running my first 5K in under 30 minutes on 1st May!
That is one SPEEDY run! Man I love trail running
I’m not a very fast runner. I run at about 11min pace but I gotta say my new shoes I got suck! Since I’ve had them they literally have added about a minute onto each mile making me run a 12min pace!
I even switched back to my old shoes to make sure I wasn’t fooling myself, but it’s true! And my old shoes cause knee problems so I need the new ones. What’s a girl to do?!!
Oh no!! Maybe try going to a running store so they can watch you run and get you better shoes?? That’s strange they make you so much slower… bummer
You are speedy!
My average pace is around a 10 minute mile. Oops, I first wrote 10mph. It’s definitely not that!
Lol! 10 mph would be pretty baller.
Whoa speedster!! I bet you flew past anyone else out there today – like a *whoosh* haha. I also bet your face was mighty red after!
Haha you have NO idea. And it stayed red for hours, obvs
I am averaging 10 minute miles right, a couple of months ago it was 11 minutes, so I’m improving!
Great run by the way!
Very impressive pace — sub-8-min miles is very good. That kind of pace makes a relatively short run much more valuable than a longer run at a slower pace. Well done!
