Good morning! I’m back to recap yesterday — our final day in Austin!
The day started with a 7 mile training run. Turner is a runner as well (she’s done a ton of marathons, including Boston!) and joined me for the run. We hit up the same trail along the water that we biked on yesterday!
Besides having to stop for the bathroom a couple times, it was a good run — the weather was cooler and cloudy and the water stops along the trail were so helpful! Plus, this trail is so pretty!
We ran 7 miles in 1:01 for an average pace of 8:43. Here are our splits:
- Mile 1: 8:31
- Mile 2: 8:44
- Mile 3: 8:39
- Mile 4: 8:41
- Mile 5: 8:52
- Mile 6: 8:56
- Mile 7: 8:40
Yay! Great run with great company
After the run we hit up my new favorite place ever — Bouldin Creek! Cutest coffeehouse and vegetarian cafe ever. Thank you to reader Lauren for the recommendation!
We loved the funky atmosphere and all the outdoor seating!
Plus, the food was great and very Anne-friendly
I had their amazing “Granola Sunrise,” which was a bowlful of bananas, dried cranberries, pecans and homemade granola, topped with flax meal and a creamy blend of coconut milk, orange juice, banana, vanilla, cinnamon and silken tofu. Holy crap!!
Delicious AND healthy… yay!
I also loved Kris’s beautiful coffee
Their sign doesn’t say “caffeine dealer” for nothin
After breakfast, we biked downtown to return our bikes to the rental shop.
I was sad to say goodbye to it! I love biking
We spent the rest of the day walking around, checking out the shops, soaking up some live music, and, of course, sampling some of the famous mobile food carts!
The sweet potato tamales at this place were SO GOOD!!
Oh hello, omelette crepe!
Check out my new Austin “Home Slice” pizza shirt… heh
It was a delicious end to a great weekend! I was very sad to say goodbye to Turner, Kris, and the city of Austin. I understand why everyone is in love with this city and I’m so glad I finally got the chance to check it out for myself
It reminds me more of California than Texas… very hipster, earth-friendly, and artsy… but with lots of cowboy boots! Love.
Anyway! It’s back to reality today, unfortunately… I’m off to work and then tonight I have my Nutrition final exam — definitely spent last night on the plane finishing up studying! Have a great Monday — I hope you all enjoyed traveling to Austin with me through the blog

I definitely enjoyed it! I’ve heard many good things about Austin, I’d love to go there someday. Ahhhh I love travelling.
I’m glad you had a great time!
Looks like you had an incredible time in Austin! I’m going to suggest it to my girls for a great weekend getaway.
Wow! I had a totally different perception of Austin before all of your posts. It’s beautiful! I’d love to visit there sometime now
you made me miss texas so bad, but i’m so glad you had such a fabulous time! good luck on your exam!
I am just catching up now, but it looks like Austin was amazing. Sweet potato tamales, yum! I am sure you had so much fun with your best friends. Good luck with your nutrition exam!
Holy cow! That cafe and crepe truck look like just the kinds of places I want to eat! I must go to Austin!
Glad to see you had a great weekend with your friends!
Anne, its a Latte, not a coffee.. You’re giving yourself away as a tea drinker!
Also, my head looks disproportional… weird..
Hahha I am clueless and you love it
That bowl of granola sounds incredible!!! I need to try to remake that!
YES! You went to my favorite crepe cart!!! Its not open on Wednesdays, found out the hard way…pretty sure tears were involved…possibly. Glad you had a good time!
Lol! I heart you.
Yay you went to Bouldin! I am glad you had a good time in Austin.
I’ve heard so much good about Austin and oddly enough, one of my best friends just told me today she booked a trip there, too! The boots are cute…reminds me of Texas, for sure!
Awesome 7-miler! Those splits are great!
I’ve always wanted to move to Austin and your pictures made me want to even more! Looks like so much fun
Wow – that all looks so good! Love it
The granola dish and the omelette both look amazing! Austin looks like such a fun city to visit. Awesome time for the 7-miler!
Well done on the 7-miler, Anne. And sounds like a super weekend. Austin sounds like a great place, indeed. Glad you had a great time. Keep training! Well done -
Awesome pictures, great run, and neat weekend. Thanks for sharing!
That breakfast and crepe look amazing! There was a truck that made fresh crepes outside of my college’s library. All of the ingredients were from Whole Foods and it took the man a solid 10 minutes to make your meal from scratch. It was some of the best food I had on campus and I would go back just for another scrambled egg crepe.
Damn… that sounds AMAZING!
You should make the title of this post a t-shirt! I buy one for myself and several for my friends!!!
Done! Enjoy
