SATC Series > SATC Movies

Hello there!

Jess and I had another awesome day today, the highlight of which was a trip to the pool! I LOVE the pool :)

050

We started the day with a delicious brunch at Eventide in Arlington (Virginia) with our friend Heidi. I had an amazing spinach and mushroom frittata. NOM!

037

And one of these AMAZING biscuits with a strawberry rhubarb jam. Ahhh… these were seriously straight from heaven.

040

And then the three of us we went to see Sex & the City 2! To be honest… it was pretty lame. The story line felt forced and was pretty absurd/far fetched, and the characters were over the top (especially Samantha) caricatures of themselves. Boo! The series is so great, but the movies just haven’t lived up to it’s awesomeness! Oh well, it was still a fun girls outing :)

Jess and I headed to the pool after the movie. It was such a nice day here in D.C.! I feel like it’s not Memorial Day weekend without a pool or beach :)

046

I did have to bring some homework, though :( We have a take home test for Microbiology due on Tuesday. Boo! (Although yay it’s take home vs. a regular test!)

047

The other girls were busy tonight, so Jess and I had a chill night in at my place :) We made a delicious dinner for ourselves using some of my produce from Eastern Market yesterday!

089

Mmmmm… we had tomato, basil, and garlic chicken with sweet potato fries and steamed green beans. Delish!

084 082 The chicken was SUPER easy, juicy, and delicious — try this, you will love it!

075

To make it, we drizzled a little olive oil in a deep dish:

057

Tossed in a couple raw chicken breasts, and topped them with this awesome canned tomato mix:

060

And then tossed on some chopped fresh basil and cracked pepper:

061

Just pop it in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes. That’s it! You don’t need to cover it or anything. Yum!

078

Next up: steamed green beans!

073

Pretty steam :)

069

And lastly, my Mexican-Style Sweet Potato Fries! Yummmm:

081

A perfect well balanced meal :)

Jess and I are off to bed! I’ve got 8 miles are on the docket for the morning. My training buddy Ashley is out of town, so I’m meeting up with Heather to run! Heather is actually going to run the half marathon with us next weekend now, too! Yay!

Catch ya’ll tomorrow for an 8 miler recap :) Hope you’re enjoying your long weekend!

I feel the same about the SATC movies! The show is the greatest thing since sliced bread, so why do the movies suck so much? It’s like they forgot to put a real heart into them, like the tv series had. It’s all over-the-top glitz and glamour…and I find that pretty silly. They need to get some better writers for the movies…maybe that would bring back some of the show’s soul? Anyway, seem like you had a nice weekend! That biscuit looks awesome. I love quality biscuits with jam. :)

oooh that all looks so yummy! How gorgeous is sunshine! We are approaching Winter here so I am super jealous!!!

Yeah, I thought the one liners were pretty funny, but the whole Abu Dhabi thing just didn’t make sense to me. I wish both the movies spent more time in New York, it was like the 5th character in the series!

  4. 4

What a fun Sunday! Dangit. This makes me want some girlfriends in Richmond to hang out with!!

Thanks for the honest SATC review. I think I’ll wait for it to come out on DVD.

That chicken looks absolutely delicious- I will definitely be trying that one out!

  6. 6

What a great chicken recipe – I bet it would also taste good with fish!

I was planning on seeing SATC the other day but I changed plans and saw Prince of Persia. I guess I wasn’t missing anything. It’s a shame that the movie didn’t live up to the show! I love that chicken recipe! Have a great run!

I was just talking about going to the pool! I haven’t been swimming in ages, and really want to go. I feel the same way about SATC! It was so over the top and camp. If you watch the movie compared to the 1st season, it’s pretty much lost it’s charm and relatability.
    p.s. that looks so yummy!

  9. 9

Looks like a perfect day. Hope the run went well! Happy Memorial Day.

  10. 10

that is my staple chicken recipe- good old fashioned italian = basil and tomatoes! yum!

  11. 11

What a pretty dinner! I think we’ll be running a race on the same day. Good luck on your 8 mile run!! :)

  12. 12

Uggh not cool…I am planning to see Sex and the City 2 tomorrow. I still have to see it since I already seen everything else ya know!

  13. 13

Nom! You can never go wrong with sweet potato fries, especially mexi-style. :)

hope the calf is feeling better! Half-m countdown: 6 days!
