Hello from the car on the way to North Carolina! Matt and I are heading down for his brother’s wedding this weekend, and I’m enjoying the fact that my phone is capable of being a mobile hot spot (aka providing internet for my laptop). Best thing ever!
We just stopped at Subway for a quick dinner on the road.
Subway is always my road trip fast food meal of choice. Tasty and pretty healthy, too!
What’s your favorite place to get food on road trips?
I got a foot long turkey sub on honey oat and loaded it up with veggies — baby spinach, cucumber, green pepper, tomato, and pickles! Yum. Love that they offer baby spinach now.
I also got honey mustard sauce — I love theirs.
I ate about 3/4 and am saving the rest for later when I get hungry again
Being in the car makes me snacky and we’ve still got a good 4 hours or so to go!
Whenever I travel, I make sure to bring two things with me:
#1 — Lots of water. This water bottle comes everywhere with me!
And #2 — lots of snacks!
We already demolished some grapes, and I have an assortment of bars, clementines, peaches, almonds mixed with goji berries, mini packets of nut butter, etc. for the rest of the weekend
It’s always better to be prepared! What are your must-haves when traveling?
Catch you guys tomorrow from North Carolina!

I love Subway’s honey mustard, too. I have a long road trip in about two weeks from Dallas back up to Minneapolis, so I need to make sure I stock well with fruit, cheese sticks and trail mix. Not to say I won’t indulge in some ‘road trip’ grub though.
I haven’t had subway in a while because I always consider it chain fast food. You’ve proven me wrong
Mmm! I love subway! Have fun in NC!
Definitely trail mix! And lots of fruit and bars. Perfect car ride fuel. Have a safe trip.
Safe travels!!
I too always load the car to the brim with snacks, nuts and fruit etc when travelling!!!!
Subway is also one of my fav road trip fast food joints. I also love chick-a-fil. I always keep plently of snacks on hand: apples, oranges, nuts, kashi bar, fiber one bars, etc
I always bring lots of water, some fruit and something crunchy to snack on. And I know exactly where the Panera is off the freeway in Atlanta, which I always hit on my road trips from Nashville to Florida right at lunchtime! But sometimes I give in and go to Chick Fil A instead. Mmm…chicken sandwich.
I just did a post on my road trip must-haves! Apples, bananas, nuts and dried fruit, Fruition or Larabars, dry cereal, etc etc and always water! I’m really serious about my road trip AND movie theater snacks.
I’m always driving, so I pack snacks entirely based on 2 things: 1) can it be eaten safely with one hand? and 2) how likely is it that I’ll stay clean throughout?
Happy trails!
I’ve got a list of power snacks and they include:
- clif mountain mix bar
- luna protein cookie dough bar
- clementine oranges
- dried cranberries
I know what you mean about eating snacks on raod trips! I get bored so I think that is half the reason I feel snacky. Subway is my go to spot on the road.. beats all the fast food joints nutritionally and I love that you can tailor your sandwich to your liking.
I have this weird mental association of road trip = peanut m&ms. Not the healthiest choice
lol
Subway’s the best! I hope they will have baby spinash here too!
I’m going on a road trip today and for me, it’s always snacky snacky. Lots of water, some kind of crunch (pop chips or pita chips). Anything that I can munch on for a long time, and with one hand only
I always need a lot of snacks on the road– I get so hungry when I have to drive forever. Subway is definitely one of the best places to stop and get a quick, veggie filled meal. And lots of water for sure!
When I travel I always treat myself to a special coffee and a magazine. Makes all the waiting and sitting a bit more fun
Subway is definitely the best road trip grub!
My go-to travel snacks are Luna bars, peanuts and almonds, carrots, apples and Laughing Cow cheese wedges! Gotta have sweet, salty, crunchy, and mushy!
I love to eat Subway when I’m out on the road too! I also like to bring beef jerky, almonds, luna bars and apples ( the luna bars and apples are usually for breakfast the next day when we are at a hotel).
have a great trip miss anne! and you’ll be in one of my most favorite states…. LOVE NC! and love YOU
xo
Subway is, indeed, a great choice… But you left out coffee!
Have fun in the Tarheel State!
I love subway when I am not on a road trip! Also, put in as many veggies as it will hold, all except any type of HOT peppers
Love your top in the first photo! I haven’t tried that dressing at Subway before (been years since I’ve been to a Subway also), will have to remember to try it if/when I go soon!
