Fun contest! I love almond butter but haven’t tried theirs. My healthy tip for traveling: exercise first thing in the morning. Going for a run or walk around a new place is a great way to get to know a city and it also starts off your day on a healthy path!

  3. 3

I try to stay healthy on vacation by packing snacks ahead of time – but these almond butter packs would be GREAT for my upcoming trip!!

  4. 4

I always pack healthy grab-and-go snacks like granola bars or trail mix and bring my workout gear and an exercise DVD. That way I have no excuse to hit the vending machine or not to break a sweat!

  5. 5

When traveling I pack lots of healthy bars (Lara, Fruition, etc) as well as some protein powder in a baggie to add to oatmeal or something to boost it’s protein power a bit.

  6. 6

Healthy travel tip: I like making my own trail mix bags. That way when I want to snack, I can eat almonds, peanuts, craisins, etc instead of grabbing a candy bar from the hotel gift shop or fries from a truck stop.

  7. 7

I keep healthy on the go by packing gluten-free bars like Larabars–love ‘em!

  8. 8

Yum haven’t tried that brand yet! Would love to! I pack apples, bananas, larabars, peanut butter packs, and my own cereal in ziplocs when I travel. Great for planes, to add to airport food, and eat at hotel.

  9. 9

I just tweeted about the giveaway! :)

  10. 10

I’ve been so wanting to try Barney Butter – I can’t seem to find in anywhere local for me so I’ll have to extend my search.

Healthy on the road: We always pack our own lunches and stop along the way for a picnic – fresh fruit, veggies, salads and sandwiches and homemade desserts. I also pack my resistance bands and tennis shoes everywhere I go.

  11. 11

I tweeted about this also =) I LOVE Barney Buttahhh

  12. 12

Seriously? I just ran out of almond butter and was googling almond butters to order…. Oh my. I need to win. :)

But when I’m traveling, if I have access to a cooler then a fridge once I arrive, I pack hummus and veggies. I always take bananas and a jar of PB or AB ;) with me. LaraBars are also great – and little bags of almonds are great in my purse – they can’t melt.

  13. 13

i always pack lots of healthy snacks while traveling…apples, carrots, nuts, and instant oatmeal the make with the in-room coffee maker. i think these little almond butter packets would be the perfect addition to my traveling arsenal!

  14. 14

Yum!! Love Barney Butter!! My healthy eating tip is to pack healthy snacks!! That way you won’t end up starving or just grabbing anything you can find.

  15. 15

Great giveaway! I like to travel with snacks in my bag, especially when I’m flying – helps to resist all the snacks/food at the airport.

  16. 16

When the beverage cart comes by on the plane, I always ask for tomato juice or water. I don’t drink soda anyway and I don’t think their fruit juices are all natural!

  17. 17

Barney Butter – the stuff of dreams! I love it!

I’m just prepping to leave for a week at the beach. I’m packing a big bag of trail mix for snacking…with the stash of bars, of course. I also portioned out 1/2 c. of oats into ziploc bags for breakfast – just add water and banana and I’m good to go. PB&J’s are my go-to quickie meal when away from home.

  18. 18

Mine is to always ALWAYS have Luna bars in my purse!

  19. 19

    i tweeted it also: steff_says – @fannetasticfood is having a barney butter giveaway! i want! http://bit.ly/bvvogW

  20. 20

I love Barney Butter and like you, I always bring the little packs with me when I’m traveling along with fruit (grapes, apples, bananas), larabars, oatmeal/yogurt topping bags (cinnamon, coconut, nut mixture) and always have a water with me. That way I’m still satisfied, eat well and doesn’t feel stuck in any decision :)

  21. 21

Just posted the giveaway on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Kay819/status/18057635990

  22. 22

Just tweeted about the giveaway…all the nut butter lovers out there will be psyched for this one!

  23. 23

I pack bars and more bars! Fiber one does the trick a lot of the time. Also, dried fruit and little travel baggies of carrots.

  24. 24

I always pack my workout DVDs and put together many healthy snacks for the road/plane.

  25. 25

    Margherita says:

I simply listen to my body and only eat when I am hungry–I enjoy larger meals than usual so I tend not to snack.

  27. 27

i’m a fan of making sure i pack walking shoes so that i can walk everywhere! and doing yogadownload is a good one too :)

  28. 28

When traveling I always pack apples! They are my best friend when away from home, I also pack Cliff Zbars, homemade granola and oatmeal packets. When eating out I try to find healthy hearty foods that’ll fill me up so I don’t have to eat large portions. I hav never tried almond butter but I have been meaning to for a while now, so this would be great!

  29. 29

    Just tweeted! :)

  30. 30

I LOVE BARNEY BUTTER!! I actually hate all other almond butter though. And I can’t find Barney ANYWHERE!!

Umm… I like to exercise first thing in the am – keeps me going throughout the day!

  31. 31

I have to admit I take the easy way out and just grab some Luna bars before I hit the road!

  32. 32
    Sarah R says:

Oh my goodness! My love! I have been rationing my 90 calorie packs of BB and my husband thinks I’m crazy! I love to pack healthy snacks when I travel so that I am never caught off guard.

  33. 33

My tip is to plan ahead and try and find a hotel with a gym, or print out some in-room exercises. Also, bring healthy snacks! Looove almond butter packets!

  34. 34

Yummmmm! My favorite tip for staying healthy while traveling is packing enough snacks and healthy stuff for the road. This includes a TON of water :-) Also, I like to go online and check out local restaurants where I’ll be staying so I’m prepared.

  35. 35

    just tweeted it too!

  36. 36

I bring a cooler with me when I drive: cottage cheese, fruit, veg, and some nuts… but if I fly somewhere, I’m sure to hit a grocery store soonest to pick up the essentials. I had some yogurt confiscated when I flew to NZ once, so I guess when they say “you can’t take it with you”, they sometimes mean food, too. :D

  37. 37

My parents conditioned me to have a vacation game plan that may not be so conventional — we would try to be as active as possible on vacation (doing all of the special activities that our destination provides), stay hydrated, and only have one big/restaurant meal a day(usually dinner). We would eat small and simple snacks or mini-meals throughout the day and then relax at dinner. Though, often, we were too tired at dinner to eat too, too much!
I always end up eating less, though maybe richer foods, on vacation than I do in normal life.

  38. 38
    Sarah R says:

  39. 39

I always bring snacks like Larabars, almonds, and apples!

    Gretchen says:

I always try to find ways to squeeze in exercise – hotel gyms are a must!

  42. 42

    I loooove almond butter!

What I do on vacation is try to have at least 2 very very very healthy meals to splurge a little bit on the third one. At the end of the day, the count is the same :)

  43. 43

    Tweeted! :)

  44. 44

I always pack Luna or Cliff bars!

  45. 45

I always try to plan long runs when traveling…its a great way to explore a new city or town!

  46. 46

    Can Canadians enter? :)

When I’m travelling (especially on vacation), I like to wake up early and exercise in the hotel gym or go for a run outside, usually before anyone else is even ready to wake up. That way I feel great for the rest of the day!

  47. 47

omg i need barney butter! i use it everyday!impossible for me to find here in ny! ok so i just tweeted it!

  48. 48

Yumm I haven’t had Barney Butter in so long! My tip is bringing snacks along with me! I always have oatmeal packets, bananas and rainsins for breakfast, Larabars, Kashibars and nuts for snacks, and bread and peanut butter for lunch!

  49. 49

  50. 50

travel tips! pb and j sandwiches, bars!, barney butta packets, oatmeal, raisins, etc…….

  51. 51

    Tweet Tweet Tweet ;)

  52. 52

I just try to eat a ‘normal’ ish breakfast and lunch and then don’t stress about dinner and eat and drink what I want. For longer trips this rule won’t work, but for a long-weekend it’s perfect.

  53. 53

To try and stay healthy while traveling I never leave home without my precious Luna bars! They keep me full and keep me away from junk.

  54. 54

I always bring fresh fruit in my carry on bag. I hate paying $2 for a banana!!! Great giveaway!

  55. 55

When traveling I always PLAN AHEAD! I make sure to have plenty of healthy snacks with fiber to take a bite out of that hungry monster (fresh fruits, veggies, HUMMUS, and usually some sort of nut butter!) And if you’re going somewhere you’ve been before it’s easier to plan some exercise into your routine. Even if it’s a new place, it’s always fun to just take a walk and explore the new atmosphere!

  56. 56

I also tweeted about this awesome giveaway!! :)

  57. 57
    Jen Robinson says:

After reading all these comments I now know how to stay healthy while traveling- I tend to treat vacation/traveling as a time to splurge, so I tend to eat less healthfully… :(

  58. 58

Oatmeal is always my go-to meal. I pack oatmeal, cinnamon, and raisins into plastic bags. That way I always have single servings (well, single serving according to me) when I’m travelling. I also keep Larabars in my purse for snacking emergencies.

  59. 59

I am allergic to all nuts, including almonds (:( :( :(), so this is just a comment, not an entry, I suppose.

I bring healthy snacks, try to go for a run and explore the area and generally try to stay as close to my regular routine as possible, while still exploring a new place.

  60. 60

I tweeted about your giveaway! Here’s a link to my tweet: http://twitter.com/Natcatty/status/18058760269 :)

  61. 61

i always pack granola bars and oatmeal packets :)

  62. 62

Oh yay! I’ve been dyyyying to try this stuff! My tip is to get in as much movement and activity as possible…so there’s some wiggle room to enjoy all the treats :).

  63. 63

While traveling I try to keep it to 3 healthy meals per day and not randomly snack throughout the day on empty calories.

  64. 64

Staying healthy while traveling is always hard when I am with other people. We always pack a cooler with waters, and diet sodas (I am an addict). I also try to pack some point friendly snacks since I am doing weight watchers. Carrots are always a plus.

  65. 65
  66. 66

YUM! When I travel I always pack my work out gear. I always figure there might be a chance to get a quick run or walk in.

  67. 67

:) Posted on my blog as well… :P

  68. 68

Ooh, I have always wanted to try Barney Butter! I stay healthy when I travel by trying to walk everywhere I go and eating lots of fresh food. :)

  69. 69

    Barney Butter… my kryptonite!

I always have a baggie of trail mix and a few apples along with me when I travel. Healthy and filling snacks that will keep me satisfied and are very portable!

  70. 70

I bring along A LOT of my own food – English muffins, bars, and my own jars of nut butters for breakfasts! I also personalize everything at restaurants to make healthy meals.

  71. 71

I like to pack food and eat/cook in the room. That saves money and I can cook healthy things, and choose which meals I want to indulge in out.

  72. 72

    I tweeted for you! I am @butterjessfly
    Thanks!

  73. 73

    I just tweeted your giveaway!

  74. 74

I make sure to bring my workout gear so I can start the day off in a healthy, good mindset and bring along apples and bars. Both travel super well and if I start the day off eating healthy, I can splurge without guilt on some wine or dessert at dinner! :)

  75. 75

Let’s see…I always pack my running shoes so I can run wherever I am traveling..it’s a great way to explore new places. I also pack healthy foods with me and look ahead of time for healthy restaurants.

  76. 76

I tweeted!! I’ve always wanted to try almond butter, but I live in Montana and it’s kind of pricey here. Really excited about the giveaway, and I love love love your blog :)

  77. 77

When traveling I make sure to bring an assortment of healthy and gluten free snacks including: nut butter packets (I’d LOVE to try Barney Butter), dried fruit, cereal, and bars. Knowing I have food to rely on keeps me sane while traveling!!

  78. 78

I always pack portable snacks when traveling! It saves money and is better for you.

    Marianna Lazzarino says:

I always pack healthy snacks to make sure I have options wherever I go!

  80. 80

I <3 almond butter! My healthy traveling tip is to bring workout cards for strength moves that I can do without equipment. Using your own body weight as resistance can still give you a great workout.

  81. 81

I think a big thing is to try and stick with a normal routine as much as possible. I avoid airport food as much as possible by brining snacks of fresh fruit and veg with me, and then making it a point to work-out whenever I can.

  82. 82
    Claudia says:

For road trips, Larabars are my favorite!

  83. 83

    I tweeted! I’m @vivalameaganx3

  84. 84

In order to stay healthy while travelling I make sure I have plenty of healthy foods with me, get exercise whenever and where ever possible and seek out healthy options when eating out. We’ve even gotten off the turnpike to find something other than greasy fast food to eat for lunch.

  85. 85

My favorite way to stay healthy while I am traveling is to search for healthy restaurants before I leave. Sometimes I am able to save some money as well by finding coupons. If I am going on extended stays, I find places to stay with a small kitchenette so I can hit up the local grocery store for staples during the week.

I have never tried Barney butter but I would love to after hearing you rave about it!

  86. 86

    Tweeted! @andionthego

  87. 87

I am always prepared when traveling – my favorites include packing apples, dried fruit, trail mixes, and clif or lara bars! YUM!

  88. 88

I plan out my runs and write them into my schedule when I travel. I tend to keep them on the shorter side so that I am more likely not to skip them and so they don’t take up too much time.

  89. 89

I always pack dried fruit, nuts, tea and oatmeal packets.

  90. 90

I don’t travel much, but on my last road trip (6+ hours to Wisconsin), my girlfriend and I packed tons of healthy snacks – almonds, dried fruit, sandwiches, etc. so we didn’t have to stop for fast food. although, we did stop at Trader Joe’s to supplement our packed food. :)

  91. 91

When I am traveling, I make sure I always have a water bottle to fill on the go. I also pack an extra piece from fruit from the breakfast bars to have as an afternoon snack! Lastly, I make sure I avoid all breads at night and splurge on dessert in stead!

  92. 92

I always pack Larabars, bananas, raw almonds, and apples. GREAT giveaway!

  93. 93

I bring granola bars for healthy snacks, and I bring my garmin. that way I can go for a run and not worry about getting lost since the garmin can navigate me back if I can’t do it for myself:)

  94. 94

Just tweeted about it too @jmariebrace

  95. 95

Hello again. I mentioned your giveaway in my blog today:) here is the link:

When I travel I ALWAYS bring a baggie full of mixed nuts. They work like magic when it comes to curing my hunger!

  97. 97
    Mary Beth says:

I travel often for work, and never quite know what my options will be. I usually pack a small snack bag of Larabars, almonds/dried fruit, and oatmeal to help make it through travel delays or continental breakfast nightmares. Barney Butter packets would be an awesome addition to my snack bag!

  98. 98

    Tweeted! xoxo

  99. 99

I like you to make sure to pack my own travel peanut butter and usually odwalla bars. I also make sure to know where the nearest Whole Foods or grocery store is and we usually use our time share when traveling that comes with a fridge which I stock after a quick run to the the store with fruit, yogurt, veggies etc.

  100. 100

Walk, walk, walk! And drink lots of water :)
Have never tried almond butter (I know!) so would love the opportunity…it’s so expensive!

  101. 101

I’ve been dying to try Barney Butter!

Recently I’ve realized I’m in much better shape if I pack breakfast for the airport – yogurt goes much better with a late splurge than a giant muffin! Starts the trip off right!

  102. 102

I’ve been dying to try Barney Butter, but I’m a little scared to! I have no idea why! I need to buy some of these for an upcoming trip!

I always try to eat a healthy breakfast when traveling. If I can have a good breakfast, I know I can make good sound food choices the rest of the day!

  103. 103

My tip for staying healthy while traveling is to plan exercise and to pack healthy, portable snacks, like granola bars and fruit!

  104. 104

HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! it will keep you energized, your skin moisturized and you feeling good!

  105. 105
    Jeanna Basnett says:

I love to go to the local grocery store when we are traveling and stock up on essentials to keep in the hotel fridge. If we are only there for one night, I like to pack my favorite DVD workout or walk the entire airport pre-boarding and during layovers:).

  106. 106

i actually am leaving for vacation tomorrow! i always come prepared with fresh cut-up veggies for snack on long car rides. also, i have to remind myself that even though it is a vacation, not to over-do the indulgences!
thanks for the awesome giveaway, anne!

  107. 107

Love Barney Butter, its the best!! Here is the link to find out where you can buy it in your town – http://www.barneybutter.com

  108. 108

oh barney butter!!! my favorite!! i write out workouts on index cards and bring them with me so i have ideas and options.

  109. 109

I think my heart just skipped a few beats. BB is my favorite almond butter EVER. I think I cried the day I finished all of my 90 calorie packs. Needless to say, I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for this giveaway :) Thanks for the opportunity!

when I’m traveling I keep my purse STOCKED with granola bars/almonds/trail mix and chug-a-lug tons of h2o!

  110. 110

My tip is to bring your own drinks! My biggest weakness while traveling is getting thirsty, not hungry, and it’s awfully tempting to drink whatever’s around, even if it’s those 400-calorie sweet thing from Starbucks. Bringing my own drink supply helps with this. :)

  111. 111

I’d looove to win this giveaway!!

My favorite stay-healthy while traveling tips:
    - Bring sneakers and get exercise whenever possible! At the beach this past weekend I went for a morning run, some beach walks, and danced at the bars at night :)
    - Always carry a big water bottle
    - Bring some easy to pack snacks such as apples, dried fruit, oatmeal packets, trail mix, and carrots!

  112. 112
    Melissa says:

Yay!!! Love almond butter!! I gave you a tweet shout out Anne!!! :)

  113. 113

I stay healthy by bringing along lots of healthy snacks which takes away the temptation of snacking on not-so-good foods.

  114. 114

I map out restaurants near where I am staying and try to look for healthy options on their online menus before I go. That way when I am in a rush or want to grab a quick bite, I don’t end up at McDonald’s or some place without any healthy menu items.

  115. 115

Awesome, I was wondering where you got those travel packs! My best traveling tip is to research restaurant where you’ll be staying so you know in advance places to avoid. Funnel cake on vacation can be waaaay too tempting. :)

  116. 116

Would love to try Barney Butter! Healthy Trip tip–indulge at lunch or dinner, but not both–glass of wine with lunch=great, dessert at dinner=no go.

  117. 117

I have never tried Barney Butter and would love to win! This past weekend I took a road trip and made a big batch of hummus that I packed in a cooler with veggies and some pita chips. Better than drive-thru!

  118. 118
    Courtney M says:

I’ve always wanted to try barney butter! When I travel, I pack snacks/meals for the airport. After having a delayed flight in a terminal with absolutely no vegetarian food options (there was one restaurant in the terminal: a sausage place), I learned to be prepared! I also pack a reusable empty water bottle so that I’m not paying the big bucks to buy water after I get through security.

  119. 119
    kristin says:

i want to try barney butter sooo bad! When I travel I pack snacks galore. I am a vegetarian – so especially during long car trips, it can sometimes be hard to find healthy food!

  120. 120
    Kristina says:

    I love Barney Butter! :)

When I travel, I always pack healthy snacks for car rides and I also try to incorporate some sort of exercise during the day. It helps relieve my cramped legs.

  121. 121

When I travel I make sure to drink water ALL day – since travelling tends to dehydrate you, and I’m also less likely to snack unhealthily if I’m full of water :)

  122. 122

ahh! i would be OVERJOYED if i won barney butter! i have only tried one packet (sample) and it is soooo good! I don’t travel much, but I would be sure to pack some healthy travel food and if it was somewhere warm, I would be active by swimming and going on some nice walks/runs! :) thankyou thankyou!

  123. 123

We try to stay healthy while traveling by staying at a hotel that has at least a refrigerator in our room. This allows us to save money and buy foods at the grocery store (which are healthier and cheaper) than having to eat out during every meal!

  124. 124
    Tina E. says:

My husband and I are vegetarians AND have super-sonic metabolisms – so it’s important for me to pack snacks. Yummy food like fruits, nuts, and even cold foods in a cooler if necessary.

If I don’t do this – we shamefully end up eating bean burritos that probably aren’t really vegetarian friendly.

  125. 125

I always bring tons of healthy snacks (apples, nuts, kashi bars, etc). It is much cheaper and healthier than eating fast food. If I eat fastfood I will stick to Subway. Also like to scout out running paths near my hotel, check for hotel gym and also bring P90x as a last resort for getting workouts in.

  126. 126

    Also just tweeted!

  127. 127

I would love this!! The key to staying healthy while traveling is being prepared and packing lots of snacks!! I might be known to carry around my magic bullet. :)

Love almond butter!!! When I am traveling I try to think ahead. I will pack dried cereal (kashi usually) and lots of cut up fruits and veggies to grab when I need a boost. I also research healthy restaurants in the ares before I go to see what options I have.

  131. 131
    Sarah S-F says:

My tip for travel – bring your own snacks and utilized wherever you are to go for a walk or jog. Each place has interesting scenery.

  132. 132

Snacks and running shoes – the MOST important parts of my packing process, even for the shortest trips. You never know when you’re going to want to squeeze in a run!

  133. 133

healthy tip: since my running shoes can take up a lot of space, if i am only bringing a carry-on, i will wear them on the plane so that i know i will at least have them to get a good walk in wherever i am going.

  134. 134

I also linked to your blog! I just started my blog, so it’s not terribly active yet, but I am hoping soon I will be as successful as you! :o)

  135. 135

While traveling, I always make sure I have easy-to-pack fresh fruits such as bananas, apples, and oranges. Also, if I have to fly and cannot pack a lot of snacks, my first trip after I get to the hotel is to the grocery store! That way, I can make sure I will always have healthy snacks on hand. I even try to find a hotel with a refrigerator if possible. :)

  136. 136

I always pack plenty of healthy (portable, nonperishable) snacks.

  137. 137
    Desiree says:

I’m usually not too health conscious on vacation, unfortunately. But I usually do two healthy things:
First, go easy on breakfast – toast, oatmeal, or something healthy, not the heavy and greasy stuff. That makes me feel gross anyway.
Also, incorporate exercise into your vacation. When I was in Buenos Aires last year, I signed up with a tour company to do a 10K running tour of part of the city; I’m going to Belgium next month and signed up for a biking tour of Brussels; and when we go other places we search online for put ins for our kayaks or kayak rentals. Fun and gets the exercise in!

  138. 138

I try to keep exercising even if it’s just going to a walk with family. It helps me from getting off track when I return home.

  139. 139

    I also just tweeted :)

  140. 140

I don’t take anything w/ me on vacay b/c I love to try new foods. Even if I splurge and have 20 or so donuts, it’s all the more reason to go for a run in new territory and see new things. I’m always active on vacation so I don’t let an unhealthy meal or two get me down :)

PS – Refrigerated almond butter is whack. Even if I don’t win the Barney Butter extravaganza gift pack, I think I’ll fork over the big bucks to try it out so thank you!

  141. 141
    Rebekah says:

I mkae sure I have fresh produce and almond butter, crackers, and granola bars to go along with it! Always prepared!

    Abbie H says:

One of my tips for staying healthy while traveling is bringing workout DVD’s. I can load the DVD’s into my laptop and do the workouts in a hotel without a problem!

  143. 143
    Katrina says:

Awesome! I have been wanting to try these mini packets of Barney Butter. Whenever I travel, I bring along plain instant oatmeal packets, just in case there the hotel breakfast consists of sugary cereal and donuts. Recently, I haven’t to use the oatmeal packets. Continental breakfasts are upping their game!

  144. 144
    Lindsey says:

    Drink lots of water!!!

  145. 145

I stay healthy on traveling by bringing my own groceries if I can. I am currently in Atlanta and stocked up on produce at the Farmer’s Market before I came.

  146. 146

This is so awesome, I hope I win! When I travel, I try to make commitments with friends in the places I’m traveling so I have someone to keep me accountable for a walk or some other workout.

  147. 147

I always pack my running shoes!

  148. 148
  149. 149

    Tweeted it!

  150. 150

Being a vegan I have to make sure I bring everything but the kitchen sink when I travel! But, I’ll usually bring a cooler filled with some chopped veggies, hummus, Mary’s Gone Crackers are great, among other things and of course ingredients to make almond butter and jelly sandwiches!!! :-)

  151. 151

When we take road trips I always pack a cooler with healthy snacks, fruit and the fixings for PB&J sandwiches. I also bring lots of water. My husband and I used to stop on the road but we were always disappointed with the choices and usually ended up feeling pretty awful after eating. This has solved that problem. I also research places before going so that I know what our options are ahead of time.

  152. 152

I say healthy when travelling by hitting up a grocery store at my destination. I pick up fresh fruit and yogurt to snack on or to eat in place of less-than-stellar hotel breakfasts.

  153. 153
  154. 154

Pretty simple, but I try to avoid eating out/fast food when traveling. Packing your own food saves money and calories!

  155. 155

My tip for staying healthy: Just because the hotel breakfast is “free” doesn’t mean you have to eat it! Free does not equal healthy.

  156. 156

bring healthy snacks and travel-friendly exercise equipment

  157. 157
    Irene Penn (Renie) says:

Thanks to Anne’s blog I was introduced to Barney Almond Butter and decided to give it a try. I ordered the individual packets from Amazon and love it. I am a diabetic and my glucose levels are low in the mid morning and afternoon. The packets are so convienient and I use them for snacks with whole wheat crackers. My dietician said they are legal in my diet. There is no excuse for my glucose levels to bottom out in the am or afternoon anymore. I pack food, even if I don’t eat it, and take it with me everywhere I go now.

    Jessica says:

I have to plan ahead…sometimes I pack meals and sometimes I look at restaurants in the area (and sometimes it all goes to poop! :))

  160. 160

Travel tip: plan, plan, plan! Know the restaurants in the area, avoid fast food!!!, pack healthy snacks. But, still allow an indulgence every once in awhile…a road trip/vacation isn’t the same without something deliciously bad for you!

  161. 161
    Katharine Burd says:

Ahh I would love to win this one! My tip is to walk everywhere and look up the menus of restaurants ahead of time.

  162. 162

Love bringing water bottles and nuts!

  163. 163
    Colleen says:

I make my own muffins, bars and trail mixes to bring with me when traveling, as well as bring other healthy snacks, like fruit and veggies. I do like to give myself a little break when I travel and eat out, but it’s nice to have my own healthy options, too.
Also, I always bring my sneakers even if I don’t plan on running- usually I’ll find a nice place to walk or sightsee!

  164. 164

I LOVE nut butters – of any kind :)

When I travel I always bring my own snacks in my bright pink lunchbag for healthy food options. Also, I always make use of hotel fitness centers – they usually nothing fancy but they get the job done!

  165. 165

my favorite stay healthy travel tip is to pack lots of healthy snacks with me..usually a lot of bars!

  166. 166

Oh my gosh, wonderful giveaway! I loved it when I was at Fitbloggin’ and Savvy Julie took me into whole foods and got me a packet of this yummy goodness. I had to wait until I moved back to the states for the opportunity to try this stuff again.

Ways to stay healthy while traveling: Stay hydrated! Bring a reusable water bottle with you on trips so you will drink! You will overeat if you are dehydrated!

  167. 167

    Aaaaand it’s blogged: http://dawnie.com/?p=2203

  168. 168

I always try to stay hydrated when traveling, especially if I have to fly. I also always try to keep a stash of bars somewhere in case hunger strikes!

  169. 169

    I tweeted!

  170. 170

Pack a yoga mat & running shoes! Having your own yoga mat makes getting a workout in more familiar, and you can run anywhere you go!

  171. 171

I like to make sure I pack lots of healthy snacks like fresh fruit, chopped vegetables, trail mix, etc. so I don’t feel tempted to stop at a random convenience store for food.

  172. 172

I stay healthy while traveling by packing lots of dried fruit! I think it keeps well in most circumstances.

  173. 173

When I’m on vacation I always stick to fruit and cereal for breakfast instead of the eggs/bacon/biscuits that are usually served at hotel continental breakfasts. I also pack pb&j’s and granola bars for snacks during the day so I don’t have to settle for something unhealthy just because I’m starrrrving.

  174. 174

My best travel tip is to pack tons of snacks, especially non-perishables so you can bring more than you think you might need–just in case! Granola bars, homemade trail mix, and healthy crackers are all great options.

  175. 175

I always bring as much as my own food as possible. Even if I don’t plan on eating it all, it’s still so good to have healthy options on hand. I think the problem people have with eating on vacation is that they don’t prepare ahead. Treating yourself to excellent food is one thing, but not supplementing ANY kind of balance is when you get yourself in trouble and overdo it. I always want to come back from vacation feeling entirely amazing from the experience- the places I went, the things I saw, the food I ate. If I came home feeling guilty, it would take away from the true joy of the trip!

  176. 176
  177. 177
    Katherine says:

I like bringing home made trail mix with almonds, dried fruit, cereal etc..

  178. 178

I bring a box of bars in case I get hungry so I don’t have to hit the mini bar. I also bring my sneakers and try to walk as much as possible. Every little bit helps!

  179. 179

On vacation I always try to have granola bars, nuts, protein powder, and almond butter. If I can use these items at least once a day I feel better about myself!

  180. 180

i love to bring the individual size packages of amazing grass products whenever i travel anywhere – same idea as the barney butter!

  181. 181
    Antoinette says:

I pack individual packs of trail mix from Trader Joes!

  182. 182

I pack Larabars and try to stop in to grocery stores if I’m in a city (even out of the country) to pick up single servings of fresh fruit. And staying active–pushups!

  183. 183
    Jessica says:

i always make sure to carry a few extra bars and oatmeal packets with me when i’m travelling, and i’m a huge fan of single-serve nut butter packets when i’m on the go but i haven’t had barney butter since i used my free sample!

  184. 184

Great giveaway! If it’s a road trip I try to keep healthy options with me, like cut up veggies and fruits. If it were on a vacation where I’d be going out to eat the whole time then I’d try to order lots of salads and keep portion control in my mind. Exercise is always a must too!

  185. 185

    I tweeted your giveaway. :)

  186. 186

My best travel tip is to find ways to fit in activity throughout your trip. Even taking a small walk is better than doing nothing.

  187. 187

I always make sure to start each day with a great, healthy, hearty breakfast.

  188. 188
    Marianne in Auburn says:

    Yum!! Great giveaway.
I always pack healthy snacks and meals for the road. My husband makes fun of me for amount of food I take on trips….don’t get me started on what he says about the size of my my clothes bag (running/gym gear takes up extra room!!!). But if I get hungry and food is not available I turn into one very moody and unhappy chick!

  189. 189
    Kristen says:

I always bring workout clothes and pack them so that I see them as soon as I open my suitcase. I ALWAYS feel better if I get a good sweat session in while I’m on the road.

  190. 190

Almond butter sounds amazing!! My travel tip for staying healthy is to research restaurants in the area I will be staying and finding a grocery store to buy fresh fruit to have available for a quick snack instead of hitting up the vending machine at 9 at night!

  191. 191

I make sure to get at least one meal with veggies/real food and to drink plenty of water (flying always dehydrates my skin so much!)

  192. 192

Walk a lot and share lots of yummy food with the people you’re with!

I pack healthy snacks to take with me so I always have something healthy to eat and I try to drink tons of water.

  195. 195

I always pack my own plane snacks and make sure to grab some fitness mags at the airport to keep health in mind!

  196. 196

my tip when traveling is…if the vacation is more than 3 days long and you aren’t planning on walking much: pack up your gym clothes and hit the hotel gym or go for a run!

  197. 197

Awesome giveaway! I’ve never tried almond butter but I’ve recently become a vegetarian so I’ve been trying different spreads. When I travel, I pre-portion out healthy snacks since I’m always on the road driving home from college – it keeps me from over eating :)

  198. 198

I always buy a big bag of apples to take with me I pack some for the place, some for car rides, and anyother time I just need a snack. It helps avoid crumby fast food stops. By the way I would love to win this because I had not found an online retailer that will ship Barney Butter to where I live, it’s just Alaska. :)

  199. 199

I like to pack dark chocolate squares in my bag when I travel. I can usually resist heavy, rich restaurant desserts if I know I can have a little bite of chocolate when I get back to my room!

  200. 200

I bring empty water bottles- that way, I can fill up water at rest stops. This keeps my thirst quenched and it saves money. I hate paying for water :)

  201. 201

My best “staying healthy while traveling” is to be prepared by packing lots of emergency snacks! Although I prefer eating real food as much as possible, protein bars and homemade granola bars are lifesavers when healthy food options are limited. Fresh fruit and vegetables are always a no-fail option too :)

  202. 202
    EmilyGG says:

To stay healthy while traveling I plan ahead with snacks like fruits and vegetables (apples and carrots travel best I think), almonds, almond butter, and pick out healthy places to stop for food, like knowing which restaurants and food stores will be available.

  209. 209

I’ve always wanted to try barney butter!
When travelling I make sure to pack snacks (larabars, apples)!
The barney butter packets would be PERFECT for work!

  210. 210

I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS STUFF AND CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE!!!!!!
I travel and stay healthy by packing FRUIT!!

  211. 211

The way I stay healthy while traveling is pre-packing healthy snacks and breakfasts so I feel full and dont crave things from the gas station when we stop.

  212. 212

I tweeted about you and became a twitter follower.. Thanks for making this giveaway possible….amazing!

  213. 213

    tweeted!

  214. 214

I always make sure to bring a healthy breakfast. I think that’s the hardest thing for me to get right during travel. I just pop a ziplock full of trader joe’s protein powder and usually a few pieces of fruit to and some flavor.

  215. 215
    Carolyn C. says:

I pack healthy snacks to eat along the way….. then, I won’t be **as** tempted to grab a snickers instead of something healthy. Thanks for the giveaway!!

  216. 216

When I travel I always like to pack healthy snack foods so that I don’t get so hungry I’m tempted by nutritionally void convience snacks like chips/candy!

  217. 217

I always “scout” the restaurants in the area online first so I know what is available for healthy meals. That way I know which way to point my body at all times for a healthy meal on the go!

(I love Barney Butter. Best giveaway ever.)

  218. 218

Almond butter is my favorite! To stay healthy when I travel I try to make sure I fill up on healthy items at breakfast (yogurt, fruit, oatmeal..) and eat a smaller lunch. I think it’s also key to make sure to keep up with your normal exercise routine when you are away. Even if it it means waking up early and hitting the gym or the streets, I always try to get myself moving everyday!

  219. 219
    rebecca says:

i always bring packs of justin’s nut butters and packs of oatmeal to ensure i start each day with a healthy breakfast!

I am a huge fan of almond butter and have been heard so much about Barney Butter. One of my best travel nutrition tips is to carry a cooler bag with carrot sticks, hummus and other tasty treats. Just did this on our long road trip. Saved us lots of calories from eating fast food! Kids love this so much more anyway!

  221. 221

    Just re-tweeted your giveaway tweet!

  223. 223

Pack your sneakers! That way you can always go for a run wherever you are.

  224. 224

I try to find a grocery store and stock up on fruit and cereal in my hotel room!

  225. 225

I like to make exercise a part of travels, like biking across the Golden Gate Bridge. :) I also bring my own reusable aluminum water bottle and fill it up (saves plastic AND prevents me from drinking soda).

  226. 226

    I tweeted too. (@megangilson9)

  227. 227

I try to take fruit/healthy snacks with me when I travel. :)

  228. 228

Whether it be for traveling or long days out, I pack my purse with healthy emergency snacks, which are always much more useful then! I’m roadtripping to North Carolina tomorrow, and plan on bringing a giant “to go” green smoothie, Kombucha, organic pluots, Larabars, and have plotted out a little stop at TJ’s to stop for more healthy snacks/ lunch components. ;)

  229. 229

When I travel I like to take nuts and running shoes, can’t fail! I’m so excited for this giveaway…never tried this kind, looks deeelish!!

  230. 230
    Danielle says:

I always pack my sneakers and gym clothes – you never know when you can fit in a quick workout!

  231. 231

Always walk and take the stairs instead of moving elevators, escalators, etc., and order a salad with dinna

  232. 232

Great giveaway! I always like to scope out local restaurants online before I go so I can plan at least a few of the places I will be eating at.

  233. 233

My healthy travel tip is to bring a mini blender with me when I am traveling. It’s perfect for making a mean green monster on the go. As long as you have a fridge for your spinach and almond milk. Those little barney packets would be perfect for adding into a traveling green monster! ;)

  234. 234

I always bring healthy snacks with me onto the plane so I don’t have to eat the airplane food.

  235. 235

    Almond butter …. bliss.
I think the best thing to do is to plan ahead and be prepared for any situation. Don’t make the last minute decision to go to McDonalds for burgers when you could have brought homemade healthy sandwiches, and other fabulous snacks (apples and pb, or almond butter perhaps?).

  236. 236

What a great give-away! We also like to pack a cooler of healthy snacks (string cheese, grapes, etc) so we’re not tempted by nasty gas station food!

  237. 237

    Never tried almond butter!
Staying healthy on vacation: bring your running shoes!

  238. 238

I love to pack snacks when travelling because most snacks you find while wandering around are not only expensive…but not the healthiest as well!

  239. 239
    Amanda Davis says:

Oh man, I’m such a nut butter addict, I’d love to try these!

My tip for staying healthy while traveling: Packing your own snacks/foods and/or buying it at the local market/store wherever you’re at. Stay away from fast food and you won half the battle!

Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  240. 240

I always pack some baggies of pre-mixed oatmeal: rolled oats, raisins, sliced or crushed nuts, and a sprinkling of cinnamon. That way, all I need is about 0.25 cup of hot water and I have breakfast, lunch, or dinner ready to go. Works particularly well in airports, where you can request some hot water from just about anywhere. Best of all, it’s super cheap!

  241. 241

My tip for staying healthy while travelling is:
    drink, drink, drink!
For me drinking enough water is more than half the battle!

  242. 242
    Cynthia says:

My healthy tip while traveling is to try and find a hotel with a gym so that I can get a good workout every morning during my trip. It’s usually easy to find one. If I can’t, then I will try to find an easy route to go for a run or go for a good swim in the hotel pool (which just about every hotel has). Just because I’m on vacation doesn’t mean I skip workouts. I also take my 64 oz. metal water bottles with me so that I have lots of water with me at all times.

Here is my twitter profile where I tweeted about your giveaway: http://twitter.com/counselor80.

  243. 243

My healthy tip for traveling is to walk wherever and whenever you can! Because normal exercise routines can be difficult to maintain, I always try to get in those extra steps. They can really add up!

  244. 244

My tip: Drink plenty of water and don’t pig out too much. Stay disciplined. Have fun!

  245. 245

An absolute MUST for me while traveling (especially air travel!) is drinking tons of water. Between my eating patterns usually being a little off on the road and the dry recycled air in an airplane, the water is a lifesaver. It keeps me on track and reminds me not to forget about my healthy habits.

  246. 246

Where do you people get this stuff? Its like a black market drug that I can’t find in Florida.

My Tip Is: Try to incorporate your eating & activity routine/rituals as if you were at home. I really give effort not to make a vacation/trip an excuse for eating crap the entire time. I usually pack a goodie bag of bars, fruit that does not need refrigerated, nuts and crackers.
And for every alcoholic drink I have a glass of water before the next round of shots.

  247. 247

I take my own snacks while traveling also, a yummy Lara bar has saved me many times from that 3pm meltdown with the junk food.

  248. 248

I try to stay as active as possible while I’m on a trip, even if it just means a long morning walk. It gives me energy, keeps my metabolism going, and reminds me how good it is to feel healthy, which helps me make (mostly) good choices the rest of the day.

  249. 249

Oh wow, I’ve recently gotten HOOKED on almond butter so what an awesome giveaway! :) Oh and I’m a first-time commenter by the way, though I’ve been reading your blog for a month or so now~ love it, very inspiring! Anyways, like most it seems I pack lots of my own food for traveling which keeps cost down too. :) And if I’m at an airport, I walk as much as possible during the layovers- those long terminals are good for something! ;)

  250. 250

    I twittered! @atomickandi

  251. 251

When I travel I try to squeeze in a few workouts and get in a ton of walking!

  252. 252

Stay healthy while traveling by having a PLAN!! And don’t go into the time away with a “pig-out” mentality.

  253. 253

I’m actually travelling this weekend! Planning on bringing some fruit and veggie snacks, plus drinking a TON of water — always seem to need more when I’m travelling — and walk as much as possible.

  254. 254

… and tweeted! mmm barney butter…

  255. 255

I always carry a water bottle with me when I go away along with fruit and luna bars for a healtier snack option!

  256. 256

I always love to walk as much as possible when I’m in a new city–that way I’m getting my heart rate up while exploring at the same time! I also always make sure I bring healthy, portable snacks, such as bananas, Larabars, Kashi oatmeal packets, etc. Those almond butter packets would be perfect for my trip next weekend!!

  257. 257

My plan for staying healthy on a trip is to pack lots of apples…they fill me up and are very portable and not messy. I also like to take comfy shoes so I can walk as many places as possible. It’s nice after sitting all day in meetings and a fun way to see a new city.

  258. 258

What a great giveaway…I’ve been wanting to try this!!! When I want to stay healthy on vacation and the road, I make sure to be prepared. I pack a cooler with water, fresh fruit, and vegetables with hummus. I also make sure to have plenty of oatmeal and healthy bars on hand.

  259. 259

I have yet to try this stuff and I would to give it a try!

For traveling I like to pack a bunch of bars and dried fruit because you never know when you are going to get stuck without a healthy food option!

  260. 260

Awesome giveaway! I’ve always wanted to try Barney Butter! I always pack Larabars and almonds and drink lots of water or tea on the plane.

  261. 261

when i travel i bring lots of larabars, and my sister is always bringing mini cans of chickpeas since we’re both vegetarian…genius way to be sure we’ve always got backup protein sources!!! :)

  262. 262

I always strive to eat at least one piece of fruit with every single meal while on the road. That way, I’m getting my nutrients into every part of the day, and usually, having a piece of fruit before every meal means I eat less of the unhealthy stuff!

    Maria

  263. 263

I guess my on-the-road tip is more to do with fluids. I always make sure I have my water bottle FILLED because it’s so easy to get dehydrated, then think your hungry, and it’s just downhill from there.

  264. 264

Best advice for staying healthy on vacation is getting in a workout before everyone gets up! I always carry snacks in my giant purse too for when food options are less than ideal. LOVE Barney Butter!

  265. 265
  266. 266

i always bring my running shoes when i travel, even if i’m only going for a few days…it’s a great way to discover a new area!!!

    Kimberly says:

My healthy travel tip is to come prepared! I think this is especially important for a road trip, because I always tend to want to snack in the car. I pack two bottles of water, plus fruit, trail mix, bars, nuts, etc. to snack on. I never eat all my snacks, but I try to pack something for every potential craving so that I’m not tempted to stop for fast food or gas station grub.

Barney butter is theeeee bestest! My tip for traveling healthy is for people who travel for work. Seek out the healthy restaurant options. Sushi is always great, but many restaurants will accommodate you by cooking with less butter or oil – just ask! :)

  273. 273

I would love to try Barney Butter! My favorite travel tip is to pack my own water bottle. It must be empty to go through security, but then you can fill up at the many water fountains throughout the airport and avoid paying for overpriced bottles of water!

  274. 274

I love to pack healthy snacks (like PB packets) and stay away from fast food joints.

  275. 275

i always bring my own whole wheat/multi grain bread products as well as tons of fruit and veggies. I also induldge a bit with the smores/desserts but avoid the chips and salsa!

  276. 276

When I travel, I like to load up on protein bars. They work v. well with my morning coffee and are a great pre-workout power snack. I luuuuuv almond butter and would love to try this kind! Whole Foods is a bit of a drive since my most recent move, so any special deliveries will be welcomed with open arms (and an empty belly!). I tweeted too!

    Katheryn says:

When I travel I always bring/pack lots of food and snacks from home. Oatmeal, dried fruit, nuts, fresh fruit if I’m in the car, and I always bake up some healthy hearty muffins for breakfasts.

  278. 278

I’ve always wanted to try barney butter!! I pack trail mix, clif bars and always take an empty water bottle through security so I can fill up on the other side :)

  279. 279

    Ok I tweeted!!

  281. 281

Holy cow! This is the most comments I’ve ever seen on your blog, lady! That is awesome!

I pack a ton of PB&Js when I’m traveling! I can eat a PB&J for every meal for the rest of my life, seriously, so I’ll just bring a ton of them and eat them when my traveling companions stop for fast food. Breakfast? Done! Lunch? Awesome! Dinner? No problem! hehe

  282. 282

I tweeted this yesterday to remind myself to head over here when I had a second and didn’t, so I’ve got this tweet covered, too :)

  283. 283

To stay in shape while running, pack your running shoes — and use them! Running’s the best way to see most cities, in fact…

  284. 284

    i tuck into luna bars:)

  286. 286

Mentioned the Barney Butter giveaway on my blog this morning!

  287. 287

walk whenever possible instead of driving!

  288. 288

Traveling is meant to be fun…i like to splurge when I go out for dinner but I make sure to order a salad first so i can mostly fill up on greens.

  289. 289

Take the stairs instead of the elevators!! Especially in hotels!

  290. 290

Prepackaged snacks: low sugar oatmeal packets, 100 cal popcorn, Kashi bars…etc..

  291. 291

I love almond butter, especially when it comes in packets so I can take it to work. In order to stay healthy while traveling I bring workout DVDs…if I have my laptop with me, no gum required!

  292. 292

I love eating almond butter on bread or apples as a snack! When I go on vacation and I am traveling out of town I like to take beef jerky, oatmeal single packets, LUNA bars , dried fruit and almonds as snacks as well as eating the oatmeal for breakfast at hotels.

  293. 293

When travelling I like to stop into grocery or convenience stores for meals and snacks like fruit and yogurt instead of settling for fast food!

  294. 294
    Vanessa says:

I need the Barney Butter!!! What an awesome giveaway! When I am traveling I make sure the hotel has a workout room. That way I can still run if I’m not in a safe location to run outside. Also, try to eat healthy by ordering healthier items on the menus=steamed veggies, salads, grilled meats. I could be even healthier when I travel next week if I had Barney Butter to take on the plane. ha,ha!!

  295. 295

We always pack a cooler stocked with healthy snacks/meal options. Much more affordable, healthier & it really helps us FEEL better on our trips!

  296. 296

Definitely a cooler with lots of water, cheese sticks and veggies! I need the almond butter packets so I can eat it with my apple slices in the car :)

  297. 297

I stay healthy by packing easy to pack fruits, apples, oranges etc.

  298. 298

when i travel, i love exploring the cities by foot rather than by car! i also pack numerous snack bars, such as kashi and gnu, in my suitcase and carry-on bags for those times when nothing healthy fresh, healthy, and tasty can be found.

  299. 299

Oh! And my favorite tip to stay healthy while traveling is to PLAN AHEAD. Pack non-perishable snacks (fruit/veggies, trail mix, bars like larabars) and check out the areas you’re traveling in beforehand so you have an idea of your food options when you get there!

  302. 302

I always pack pb&j’s when i travel. They have a good ratio of carbs to protein and no refrigeration needed :)

  303. 303

    i tweeted

  304. 304

I always pack sliced fruit when i travel. Especially on international flights!!

    laura t. says:

my fav way to stay healthy is to pack a ton of “laura-friendly” snacks with me, so if i am ever stuck in a rut, i know i have some great snacks to fall back on..i like to bring granola bars (larabars, kind bars, etc.), portioned trail mix, pretzels, fruit, etc.

  306. 306
    Crystal says:

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who is obsessed with Barney Butter! When I’m traveling I always bring a bag of “healthy snacks” and incorporate fun and different workouts each day.

  307. 307

I’m always bringing a lot of food for when I’m travelling! Healthy sandwitches, fruit, anything that’s healthy and survives in my bag for a day. Also, I always bring my running shoes so that I have the opportunity to work up a sweat wherever I’m staying :)

  308. 308
    Kristen says:

Best tip for going on vacation I have learned is… when you go on vacation you are bound to end up eating out at least some of the time so research the places to eat before you go!

  309. 309
    Betsy S. says:

i try to keep my greens and fruit around. thats the food that makes me feel good!

  310. 310

I swing by whole foods and pick up some amazing grass (or similar) packets, it’s not hard to find water sources when you’re out and about. Oh and hijacking fruit from the hotel breakfast bar. Otherwise, space is valuable in my carry-on so a lot of bars and big objects don’t jive.

  311. 311

I make sure to drink plenty of water and always have a few pieces of fruit or carrots around. Peanut butter and hummus are usually easy for keeping in hotel rooms.
Also realizing that just because you’re away from home doesn’t mean you’re in an alternate universe is important. A calorie is still a calorie. And you won’t suddenly be able to avoid waking up feeling rough after a late night and too many drinks.

  312. 312

My tips are pretty standard, but always make sure I have a water bottle to stay hydrated, I try to pack snacks and such, and definitely pack running shoes, sneaks, and a sports bra!

  313. 313

I just tweeted about the giveaway.

  314. 314

And…I just mentioned this in my blog: http://foodpulse.blogspot.com/2010/07/ode-to-awesome-eats.html

  315. 315

ahh i love it-my trick to traveling is to always pack some dry snacksn my purse-pre measured out. you never know when you will get Hungary and it can be expensive to purchase snacks in a coffee shop or at the airport

  316. 316

Mmm almond butter! I love Barney Butter :)

I try to always make sure I bring along healthy snacks with me when I travel… I often let myself eat a bit more unhealthily during meals (have to splurge somewhere!) but bringing other things with me makes sure that I can have healthy snacks to fill me up inbetween meals. I’ve also recently started bringing crunchy water-filled veggies as munchies for road trips & air travel… I always crave crunch when I’m traveling (I think it’s seeing all the chips around me?!) and I’m always feeling dehydrated so things like green beans and snow peas are great :)

    Emily N. says:

My tip is to always eat breakfast and exercise when I can no matter where I’m at.

  318. 318

Drink plenty of water and walk everywhere are my two secrets to staying fit on vacation!

  319. 319

When I travel, I try to pack some healthy snacks in my purse, like nuts and dried fruit, so I won’t be tempted to grab more unhealthy things.

    Sarah D says:

I pack snacks for the car, LARAbars, portable fruit, nuts (ab packets would be perfect for this!) so we aren’t tempted to eat fast food and start the trip off on the wrong foot.

  321. 321

I always bring Clif Mojo bars, mini Larabars, and granola!

  322. 322

i always pack food! it’s the only way for me to save money.

  323. 323

I make my own oatmeal packets before traveling. I put quick cooking oats in baggies, and add whatever mix-ins I like. Simple and very similar to what I eat at home!

  324. 324

When I am traveling I always bring a few Luna bars and the Clif kidz fruit twists. I love those!

  325. 325

I make sure to pack plenty of healthy snacks–Larabars and Pure Bars (LOVE these), apples and bananas, almond butter, and plenty of bottled water. Also, I bring my running shoes and some workout clothes so I can, at the very least, go for a short run or hit the hotel gym. :)

  326. 326

When traveling I plan snacks in advance, fresh fruit or nuts are the easiest. I love living on the west coast because this time of year I can get Ranier cherries for next to nothing!

  327. 327

Woohoo, thanks for the giveaway! Here are my business travel tips:
    - Bring instant Oatmeal to make using hot water from the in-room coffee maker. Don’t forget to bring a spoon!
    - Remind yourself that just because you’re eating in a restaurant does NOT mean it’s a special occasion! Traveling for work should not mean dessert after every dinner!
    - If the team is doing a Sbux breakfast, I’ll get the oatmeal and ask for the nuts & dried fruit. I add cinnamon and skim milk from the coffee bar, but save the fruit & nuts for later so I can have an easy 200 cal snack!

    Erin D. says:

I am all about the bars for snacking when traveling! That way, I can’t spend money on junk food without feeling guilty because I’ve already got something available. Plus, they don’t fill me up with sugar and empty calories like candy or chips, and I’m still just hungry enough to eat a real meal later.

  330. 330

I always try to pack my own snacks and my running shoes!

  331. 331

i dont go anywhere without snacks and my running shoes. and i always map out a short 2 miler from my hotel and print it out for the top of my suitcase. i can ALWAYS find time for 2 miles. so i have no excuse not to get my blood moving a bit in the morning, no matter where i am.

  332. 332

i always try to sneak in some exercise during vacation…gives me a little wiggle room when it comes to eating!

  333. 333

hmm well I was going to say that I pack some healthy snacks, but since that has been done….oh over a hundred times now :) I will go in a totally other direction and say that I pack teas and a great first aid kit to keep me healthy ;)

I was just looking for almond butter packages to bring on my big trip coming up!!! ohhh I really want these!

  334. 334

I see Blarney Butter a lot on Carrots and Cakes blog and I’ve wanted to try it for so long. When I’m traveling, I pack healthy snacks so I fight the urge to eat junk. I really like Lara bars, almonds, and fresh fruit.

  335. 335

Anne- Can you find Barney Butter in DC? I haven’t been able to find it anywhere!!! When I travel I pack almond butter or pnut butter and a packet of oatmeal for breakfast. And of course, I always travel with my running shoes!

  336. 336

To stay healthy on vacation I try to pack healthy snacks and incorporate physical activities into my sightseeing.

  337. 337

I like to pack healthy snacks for road trips, and also try to scout out local restaurants for healthy meals.

  338. 338

When on vacation I try hard to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch. I also try to incorporate some sort of physical activity – just a long walk even. That way if things get out of hand at night, which is when it is more likely for me, at least I set myself up well during the day.

  339. 339

Great giveaway! When I’m traveling, I try to make sure to keep active, whether it’s walking around instead of taking mass transit, going for a run before the rest of my vacay buds wake up, or playing outside.

  340. 340

I tweeted about your giveaway today!

  341. 341

  342. 342

I keep healthy while traveling by walking everywhere I possibly can. Most things are seen best by foot!

  343. 343

I also bring healthy snacks with me while traveling – bars and nuts are the easiest. I bring real food for airport / airplane so I can bypass the bad choices.

I bring exercise clothes and if nothing else, go for walks or run while traveling.

  344. 344

I always make sure to bring apples and I usually back a PB&J for the car!

  345. 345

I’ve been wanting to try Barney Butter but never see it in the stores in Austin. I just had to work at staying healthy while traveling – for myself, my husband and our two-year-old twin boys. We packed lunch for the day of traveling: almond butter & jelly sammies, bananas, fruit leathers and applesauces pouches. Obviously some of that was just for the kids ;). Luckily the place we stayed had a small kitchen so we hit a grocery store when we arrived and stocked up. We also rented bikes & researched the running trail prior to arriving so that we had plenty of activity.

  346. 346

I always make it a point to get up early for a quick workout when I’m traveling. That way, I don’t have to worry about it later on!

  347. 347

Yum! Enter me please :) I also RT @paisleypearls!

    Carolyn says:

My favorite way to stay healthy traveling is carry around my sigg bottle at all times! Drinking water makes me feel more alert, controls my eating and keeps my skin from looking like i’ve been on a plane all day.

  349. 350

I bring my Tiger Tail (my ‘mini foam roller’) and a resistance band to use in the hotel!

  350. 351

My tip for staying healthy while traveling is: stick to REAL food! Don’t buy anything that’s unfamiliar and likely to be processed – go for fresh produce. That’s how you get to taste a country/region’s true culinary offerings anyway. Also WALK whenever possible – you get to see your surroundings better while keeping your body moving.

On road trips I bring along a mini water-boiler, oatmeal packets, and protein powder, and visit local farmer’s markets wherever I go! It makes hotel breakfasts way better!

  352. 353

Trick to eating healthy while traveling: packing food! We just traveled to PA and brought cereal bars, protein bars, and some trail mix we made. We also brought a water bottle empty so all we have to do is fill it up at a water fountain for cheap/healthy traveling!

  353. 354

My five year old daughter’s BFF has a peanut allergy and I would love to win the contest so that my daughter could try this wonderfully yummy sounding alternative. Then when her BFF comes to play we will have an allergy-free snack for her and my daughter to share! They won’t have to have different snacks! YEAH! **Read about you in Parenting Magazine**

  354. 355

I’m searching all over the web to find out if this stuff is sugar free or has some sort of sweetener in it. I’m hoping someone here will be kind enough to answer that. thanks, Kitty

  355. 357

I like to pack cans of tuna, dried fruit, and 100 calorie packs of popcorn when I travel!
