Food Lab #2: Cooking MEAT!

We had so much fun in food lab last night!

012

This class rules. I mean, we wear cute aprons instead of lab coats! :) (Sabrina, does my apron look familiar? :) )

009

I also love working in kitchens with spatulas, knives, and ovens instead of an actual lab with test tubes and bunsen burners!

010

So fun :)

005

Yesterday’s lab was all about MEAT!

002

013

We practiced all sorts of different ways to cook meat, comparing and contrasting (read: tasting!) the results of the different methods. In particular, we learned how to make lean cuts of meat still taste delicious — important for RD’s-to-be!

004

Stay tuned later today for more details on what we learned and for the delicious recipe that my team made! :) Plus, I’ll be posting the winner of my CSN Stores $65 Gift Card Giveaway — you have until 4:30 p.m. EST to enter!

And in the meantime:

  • Go check out my girl Tina’s Blogger Bake Sale for a Cause! Tina is running the Honolulu marathon in December with Team in Training and all proceeds from the bake sale will go to her charity, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. My delicious vegan, raw No Bake Peanut Butter Granola Bars are up for bidding, so now is your chance to win some! :)

I would LOVE school if I got to do this. :)

It looks like so much fun. If I could do it over, I probably would do what I am doing know. A domestic engineer. But RD does interest me, nutritional facts about food have come a long, long way. Keep sharing

I’m so jealous, we had to wear lab coats in our food science lab!! Haha! I totally have a cute apron too!

i would be SO EXCITED to have a food lab again! i had one for my major in college for 3 semesters and it was face rocking every.single.time!

Food lab does seem like a lot of fun. Does any of the students have any problems with cooking meat? I just ask because I am assuming there is at least 1-2 people who are vegans or vegetarians

  6. 6

I wish some of my class were half as fun. Maybe Ill start wearing an apron to class anyways!

Looks like great fun, Anne — and love that apron. Sure does beat a lab coat. Glad you’re enjoying it so much!

I love the aprons! Anything would be better than a lab coat!

Looking lovely in your kitchen attire :) So cute!

I remember our “Chicken” lab – our unit got stuck with Eggplant Parmesan. Um?! Ha, ripped off.
