Win a Quaker’s Amazing Morning Kit!

Hello and Happy Veterans Day!

I’m still dreaming of my Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal creation from yesterday (if you haven’t made it yet — do so immediately) — so I figured this was the perfect time for an oatmeal-related giveaway! Ya’ll know I love making my own oats if I’m home (check out my Perfect [Microwave] Banana Oatmeal), but when I’m traveling, I’m a big fan of instant packets. So quick and easy!

When I arrived home from my trip to San Francisco earlier this week, I found a massive package full of goodies from Quaker waiting at my door.

003

What fun to come home to, right?!

Quaker has partnered with Biggest Loser fitness trainer Bob Harper in an effort to help Americans jump start their day and reset their mornings in a healthier, more positive way. Their Facebook page has a bunch of fitness tips and videos from Bob about whole grains, breakfast on the go, maintaining a healthy attitude, and more. Sounds good to me! :)

The kit they sent me is called their “Amazing Morning Kit” — and they want to send one to one of you, too!

004

One lucky fANNEtastic reader will win a Quaker Amazing Morning Kit including:

  • A yoga mat (cute and non-slippery — I already broke it out last night!)
  • A copy of Bob Harper’s latest Yoga DVD
  • Four packages of Quaker’s new Hearty Medleys Instant Oatmeal in two flavors, Apple Cranberry Almond and Banana Walnut
  • A journal
  • An oatmeal bowl
  • Coupons for more free oatmeal
  • A cloth napkin and spoon
  • A super cute old-school alarm clock

Same as you: I have to make sure I get eight hours of sleep and have a delicious, filling breakfast before I leave the house. I’m worthless otherwise!

  2. 2

    Happy Veterans Day.
I get a good night’s sleep, get up with my husband at 5 am, I walk around the block and he runs. We come home and at least 3 times a week I make us a bowl of steel cut oats with cranberries, walnuts, chopped figs. Yummy. It reminds me of when I was growing up. Mama always was the first one up in the mornings and she always had a pot of oats on the stove. Brings back very fond memories.

  3. 3

I take care of myself in the morning by eating a hearty and nutritious breakfast and by mapping out how I’m going to approach my goals for the day. It helps me feel like I have a clear vision of what I’m going to accomplish :)

  4. 4

I take care of myself by getting enough sleep, stretching when I wake up, and packing a nutritious lunch and eating a healthy breakfast! I love mornings :)

  5. 5
  6. 6

I make sure I have time to relax a little in the morning rather than rushing out the door. It sets my pace for the whole day and my coffee/blog/relax time in the morning keeps me calm and cool for the rest of the day.

  7. 7

I always drink green tea in the morning to get me going. It’s so good for you and my day feels lost without it!

    What a fun giveaway!

  8. 8

Before I start my day I make sure to get a refreshing and replenishing 8 hours of sleep! I enjoy a big glass of water, tea (chamomile, green, peppermint) with honey, or the occasional coffee when im having a hard time shaking off the sleepies ;) then I make a bowl of oats!! Either oatmeal raisin oats, or pumpkin pie oats, keeps me full for hours and im always ready to tackle my day.

  9. 9

    tweeted! @emilytara :)

  17. 17

I would love to come home to this pkg at my door :-) I take care of myself in the AM by brushing my teeth, ALWAYS! It is one of the few habits that rarely gets broken. I’ve only ever had one cavity and I’m trying to keep it that way! I <3 my teeth what can I say?

  19. 19

I always make sure I get up early enough so I’m not rushing around like a mad woman!

  20. 20

I take care of myself by going to bed SUPER early (8:30 – 9:00), so I can get up at 4:30 and get to the gym. Starting the day at the gym gives me a boost that lasts all day long!

  21. 21

Happy Veterans Day! Just retweeted this post. I take care of myself in the morning by having a bowl of oatmeal (just made the pumpkin pie one this morning!) and by leaving time to relax in bed to catch up on my favorite blogs. Then I walk two miles to work/school. Blogs + Fresh air + exercise= perfect start to the day!

  22. 22

I always try to get enough sleep and eat breakfast every morning! And ensure that my kids do too! :)

  23. 23

I make sure I have a healthy full breakfast, like oatmeal, eggs and toast.

  24. 24

I take care of myself in the morning by making sure I’m “ready to go” the night before–bag packed, coffee pot set. I like to avoid any extra stress in the a.m.!

  25. 25

I take care of myself by eating a healthy breakfast and working out! :)

  26. 26

I take care of myself every morning by starting with a work out followed by a fully balanced and nutritious breakfast!

I take care of myself by getting enough sleep, packing up for the day the night before, and packing a healthy and filling breakfast for work.

  29. 29

I take care of myself by walking my dog every morning – which obviously takes care of him, too! Even though he’s on the older side and not too fast, getting a little fresh air and exercise always gets the day started on the right foot.

  30. 30

I make sure to get to bed early and leave enough time to get to class on time.

  31. 31

I start my day by putting on a pot of coffee, cleaning up the kitchen a bit, making breakfast and eating it leisurely before getting ready for work. Such a relaxed start helps keep me calm throughout the day!

  32. 32

I start my day with a granola bar of sorts before I head out for my workout. Once I get to work I usually have some variation of oatmeal or yogurt to hold me over until lunch.

  33. 33
  34. 34

I tweeted about this giveaway, and then realized I’m not following you on Twitter…you have a new follower now! :)

  35. 35

I take care of myself by eating a good breakfast and getting my workout done first thing- I always have more energy in the morning!

  36. 36

I have added a link to this giveaway and your blog in my sidebar. And it will be in today’s post!

  37. 37

I really try to get a full night (7-8 hrs) of sleep and always plan for breakfast. Sometimes my mornings get a bit crazy, so usually I will put my breakfast together the night before.

  38. 38

I always make time to make breakfast in the mornings. I make sure to include protein to keep me full until lunchtime. I also always start the day off with a cup of tea. It is so nice to sip a cup of tea and check out your blog (and read my emails from Spark People) first thing at work. It’s a good way to wake up and get my brain to start functioning! I’m not much of a morning person but I’m working on it!

  39. 39

I make sure I’ve gotten 7-8 hours of sleep, wake up slowly and take my time getting ready for work. Then I eat a full breakfast (usually oatmeal or cereal with fruit, or an english muffin with an egg and tomato) and pack a salad or one of your 5-minute lunches for work and I’m out the door!

  40. 40

I always try to get no less than 7 hours of sleep, and start my day off with a healthy breakfast, orange juice and vitamins! I LOVE the morning time! :)

  41. 41

I make sure I get enough sleep and have enough time in the morning to get ready. I hate being rushed because I always forget something!

  42. 42

I get 8 hours of sleep, have a great breakfast and exercise.

  43. 43

I always make sure I have breakfast and I (usually) get enough sleep so I feel rested in the morning.

  44. 44

Yay! What a fun giveaway. I take care of myself in the morning with a good 10 to 30 minutes of stretching (depending on the soreness of these legs) and me-time. Then I wash my face and make a cup of tea. All very quietly so the husband can keep sleeping. :)

  45. 45

    what an awesome giveaway!!

I start the morning off right by having gotten a good nights sleep, and then making my bed and airing out the room! Seems simple but it’s like putting fresh sheets on the room! =)

  46. 46

    And I tweeeeeted! :)

  47. 47

I usually try to start the day off with a green monster and a workout. Nothing better than sweat and veggies in the morning.

  48. 48

I take care of myself in the morning by getting enough sleep and eating a healthy breakfast. :)

  49. 49
    Jen Robinson says:

Sleep is the most important followed by breakfast and, when I can motivate myself, a workout :)

  50. 50

I snuggle with my kitty for a few minutes after I wake up. Nothing better than starting your day next to a warm, purring furball :)

  51. 51

I always make sure to go to bed early so I can wake up at 5am to head to the gym to do my daily workout. Then I come home, shower and make myself a delicious bowl of oatmeal (right now I’m on the pumpkin oatmeal kick topped with bananas – YUM).

  52. 52

I make a HUGE point to get in plenty of sleep! I start my day with a apple cider vinegar tonic, I NEVER skip breakfast and oatmeal is a STAPLE in our house, we eat it probably about 4 times a week!! I also get a morning workout in to make sure that I am keeping up with my health (((btw, yoga is my FAVORITE!!!))). This is a cute package, I would love one!!!

  53. 53

My first comment was deleted somehow! I wake up every day and have a big glass of green tea. That is what really gets my morning and day off to the right foot!

  54. 54

Those 5:30 am workouts are killer but have proven to be the best way to take care of myself in the morning! Followed by a protein-packed breakfast and a smooch from the hubs and dog of course. :)

  55. 55

    I tweeted.

  56. 56

    I tweeted!

  57. 57

I wake up early and take the dog for a quick walk, then take the train to work and eat a healthy breakfast with some hot tea.

  58. 58

What a great prize package! I take care of myself by eating a healthy breakfast and by drinking lots of water throughout the day.

  59. 59

I walk to class in the morning instead of talking the bus. I feel way more energized and awake if I walk the 15-20 minutes instead of hopping on the bus.

  60. 60

I take a calcium supplement. I’ve done it since high school…I love that doing something good for me has become so automatic.

  61. 61

    I tweeted your giveaway!

  62. 62

After I wake up, one of the first things I do is make a list of everything I need to accomplish during the day. Admittedly, sometimes the list stresses me out, but having it all in front of me really helps me to plan how to best spend my time! And that way I don’t spend wasted energy the rest of the day wondering if I’ve forgotten something!

  63. 63

    Make myself a nutritious breakfast!!

  64. 64

I take care of myself in the morning by always eating a good breakfast and getting at least 7 hours of sleep. I think puppy kisses in the morning help too!

  65. 65

I like to work out as soon as I get up in the morning–it sets a good tone for the rest of the day!

  66. 66

What a great giveaway! I take care of myself in the morning by making time to go to the gym and then taking a long walk with my puppies. It helps me refocus and start my day with a bit of excercise!

  67. 67

I take care of myself in the mornings by getting my workout in first thing (and also listening carefully to my body before I get out of bed to see if it’s up to the challenge or not–sometimes it’s just not!).

  68. 68

I always take my vitamins right after I get up in the morning so I don’t forget!

  69. 69

Thanks for the opportunity Anne and Quaker!

I take care of myself in the morning by always making time for a nourishing breakfast, taking all of my vitamins, and sitting down for some quiet time to read the news before getting my day started.

  70. 70

I allow myself to wake up naturally (which means going to bed early enough!) but set a couple of light alarms as a back-up. And fixing the coffee to start brewing in the morning helps start things off right, too!

  71. 71

    Happy Veterans Day!

I take care of myself in the morning by starting with a quick 5-10 minute yoga flow to get my body moving, and having a quick but filling breakfast (usually oatmeal and coffee!). Especially when traveling, this little routine gets me going every time.

I LOVE this giveaway – between Bob Harper yoga and Quaker oatmeal – this is perfect!

What a giveaway! I take care of myself in the morning by fitting in my workout for the day, taking 5 minutes to cuddle with my cat, preparing a healthy breakfast, and of course, sipping on my mug of coffee. ;)

  77. 77

I take care of myself in the morning by setting a positive intention for the day. It is super cheesy, but it is something I can do pretty easily that helps me keep things in perspective.

  78. 78

Just tweeted about it too (@SweetToothCourt) :)

  79. 79

    so, I’m obsessed with oatmeal.

I love writing notes to myself

    yoga is my life

I don’t have clock in my bedroom

    Bob Harper makes me swoon

I tend to be really messy and go through a lot of napkins.

    Cute bowls make me smile

in other words..I need this giveaway!

**I take care of myself by whipping out my yoga mat and doing a few sun salutations. I just can’t start my day without it :)**

  80. 80

Like you, I never used to eat breakfast in the morning. A few years ago I realized how much better I feel when I ate it and now I make sure to give myself enough time every morning to sit down and eat breakfast at home before I go into the craziness of work! Although I’m not a morning person, and would love to be able to sleep in later than 6:30 every morning, waking up on time allows me to have some peace to the beginning of my day which really helps to ease my anxieties no matter what is coming.

  81. 81

i take care of myself by hitting the sleep button once or twice on my alarm :) haha

  82. 82
  83. 83

Each morning I *try* to leave a few minutes to sit and relax between getting ready for work, eating breakfast and reading emails.

  84. 84

I take care of myself in the morning by drinking two glasses of water before I’m allowed coffee and I take about 5-10 minutes to stretch and wake my body up. I started doing both of these things about 6 months ago and I love it!

  85. 85

To take care of myself, I try to get enough sleep, but always make sure to eat a good breakfast every morning.

  86. 86

I take care of myself in the morning by waking up a little early to make sure I have time to relax, have coffee, and eat a good breakfast!

  87. 87
  88. 88

I make time for a shower, coffee to go and breakfast. I love oatmeal, toast with a nut butter and fruit, sometimes eggs and salsa – even throw in spinach once in a while. I don’t love mornings – but I’m learning to make them work!

  89. 89

    I tweeted it too!

    @th13rteenpoint1

  90. 90

I love waking up and using the morning to eat my favorite meal of the day and catch up on emails before I head off to class! I always start the day feeling like I accomplished something :)

  91. 91

I get up much earlier than anyone else in my house so I have some solitude to start my day.

  92. 92

I start the morning with a balanced breakfast and a full bottle of water

  93. 93

Here is the link to my blog I also posted it here: http://intuitiveinprogress.blogspot.com/2010/11/win-quaker-amazing-morning-kit.html

Can you tell I would LOVE to win this?!! ;D

  94. 94

I start each day with 7-8 hours of sleep, 20-30 minutes of yoga and a balanced breakfast that always includes a green smoothie. This always starts my day out right with tons of energy and I can definitely tell the difference on the days I don’t do these things.

  95. 95

I start my day off with a yummy, filling breakfast (today I’ve got oatmeal + crumbled up Nature Valley PB granola bar + raisins + almond milk, applesauce and coffee), some blog reading, and a little quiet time in the morning to clear my head. 8 hours of sleep help too :)

  101. 101

I’m getting in the habit of waking up an hour earlier than normal, making a cup of green tea and relaxing before I start getting ready. No tv or computer allowed, just me, my tea and my animals :)

  102. 102

I take care of myself in the morning by trying to get in a good workout! This week I’ve been 4 for 4!

  103. 103

I usually wake up with the sun to go for a run, then I shower and read blogs while I dry off. Then I make myself breakfast-generally oatmeal or Greek yogurt with roasted acorn squash. Lately I have been on a toast kick though! Then I get dressed and get ready for class. Then I take the bus or bike to campus and walk the long way to class. That’s how I take care of myself in the mornings! I exercise, I eat a healthy breakfast and then I stay sustainable by busing or biking to campus!

  104. 104

I take care of myself by waking up a bit earlier to leave time to prepare a nice breakfast. I really enjoy the quiet ritual each day :).

  105. 105

I take care of myself in the morning by preparing the night before! If I have my breakfast, clothes, and bag all packed, my morning is SO much more relaxing and allows me to start my day calm and fresh!

  106. 106

Wow this made me so excited and realllly hope I win. I am dying for a yoga mat. My good morning habit includes eating breakfast every single day!

  107. 107

Hi, I am a new follower. I love reading your recipes!
To take care of myself in the morning I try to eat a nutritious breakfast – oats, kashi, or a spinach smoothie are my go-to a.m. noshes. MMM i second the toast kick above though – ezekial bread with peanut butter and banana = amazingness!

  108. 108

To make my morning more pleasant, I do as much in the evening as possible. I prepare a healthy breakfast and lunch to bring to work and set the coffee maker to brew automatically. This allows me to sleep a little longer and not worry about finishing too many things before walking out the door. Some good music helps start my day off right, too (:

  109. 109

    I tweeted this!

  110. 110

The morning is the healthiest part of my day. 5 days a week I begin my day with a great workout. After showering and getting ready for work, I enjoy a healthy breakfast. I always have either cereal with fruit, a fun oatmeal combination, or an egg white scramble. I wake up a little earlier than I need to so I can relax and have some me time before starting my day.

  111. 111

I am so excited about this offer!! March – August I worked really hard on losing 40 pounds and now it is so important for me to maintain my healthy habits.

I love to work out in the mornings, so as soon as I get up, I exercise the dogs with a two mile run and then come back to work out to a fitness DVD. Then I make sure to eating a healthy breakfast and a low-cal coffee.

  112. 112

I consider staying in bed as long as possible the variable of having a good day. :)

  113. 113

I make sure to wake up in time to hit the gym before work :)

  114. 114

I take care of myself in the morning by brushing my teeth first thing in the morning! I won’t eat or drink anything because I feel like cleansing my face and mouth is really important. After that, I make myself a big bowl of oatmeal including peanut butter, 1/2 an apple, and some cereal! If I have nuts on hand I’ll add them. And I always always have a cup of milk and a banana on the side for added nutrition! :)

  115. 115

I ALWAYS eat breakfast…..I have no idea how I used to not! I can’t function without it!

  116. 116

I take the dog for a run every morning, 1-3 miles!

  117. 117

    and you are tweeted!

  118. 118

I always eat a good breakfast in the morning.

  119. 119

I have recently improved my mornings by getting back into the gym (after months away, sadly) before work! I keep Quaker packets at my desk for breakfast or snacks, too, which come in handy after the mid-day yoga my office mates and I have been doing in our conference room, lol. I’m new to yoga but loving it, and I desperately need a mat!

  120. 120

Great giveaway! I take care of myself in the mornings by going on a long walk with my puppy and eating a healthy breakfast.

  121. 121

I start every morning with a bowl of oatmeal mixed with fruit! I have so much more energy and feel healthier and happier since I started eating this for breakfast instead of Pop Tarts or sugary cereal. :)

  122. 122

I take care of myself in the morning by making sure I get my shower in. My shower wakes me up and just makes me feel prepared for the day. Some days are harder than others to get in the shower being a Mom but on those days the kiddo just showers with me.

  123. 123

And I tweeted from @lenniejane. :D Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  124. 124

Oatmeal is a always part of my breakfast – but really, the most important part is coffee!

  125. 125

This is all so fANNEtastic! I take care of myself in the morning by maintaining a routine. I get everything I need for the day ready to go, take a nice long walk with Lucy (my dog) and eat a good breakfast…like oatmeal!

  126. 126

First thing I need to do in order to feel refreshed is take a nice warm shower! Then I dive into my overnight vegan oats with seasonal toppings (now it’s pumpkin num num nummm).

Such a great giveaway! Enjoy your kit! :-)

  127. 127

I always start the day by exercising in the morning (unless I know I am working nights and I may sleep in a bit) and then come home and have a great breakfast and 1/2-1L of water and if the kids are still sleeping I use it to read my blogs and plan out my day.

  128. 128

I make sure to start by day off with at least one big glass of water, and give myself plenty of time to get ready and enjoy the morning (no matter how early or late it may be)

  129. 129

I linked this contest on my blog

  130. 130

I start my morning off every day with a long walk and a healthy breakfast (usually oatmeal or a green smoothie)!

  131. 131

I take care of myself in the morning by doing some gentle stretches soon after waking up.

  132. 132

i always start my day off with a morning workout – perfect for giving me the energy i need to get through the day!

  133. 133

I start my morning with making sure that I pack a healthy lunch and healthy snacks for my day. If I don’t, I end up eating pizza from the school cafeteria- bleh. (I’m a teacher).

  134. 134

Eating breakfast is the best thing I can do for myself. Being in college that is my main issue, you can’t learn anything if your stomach is talking louder than your professor!

  135. 135

I make sure to have breakfast every morning before I leave the door, and I try not to have the same thing two days in a row. I also tweeted this @JennaST.

  136. 136

I’m very in to rituals, especially in the morning; it sets the tone for your entire day. First I like to make sure that I get enough sleep (eight hours ideally!). Then I like to get ready and prepare all of my meals/snacks for the work day. Typically I stop for a soy latte on the way in, and I make sure to drink a big glass of water while I’m waiting on it because I know that’s what I really need to wake up. (The latte is so creamy and delicious though!) Then I usually get settled in at work and have a bowl of oatmeal. I’ve been inspired by your oatmeal creations, and I’ve been trying some different mix-ins. Some fail (or turn out other than expected), but it’s a fun way to start the day with a tiny bit of creativity.

I love Bob Harper! And oatmeal!
I take care of myself in the mornings by waking up EARLY (like 5am), enjoying some coffee, answering work emails. Then I get a nice workout before I go to work for the day. I almost always eat oatmeal too. Yum!

  138. 138

I go for a speedy walk outside with the pup to get moving! I make a fresh juice or spinach smoothie and take a few supplements. Then I have a proper workout (hopefully back outside… less and less of that this time of year) and a BIG breakfast to get me through the day!

  139. 139

What an amazing box of goodies! I take care of myself in the mornings by making sure I fill my tummy with nutritious food to power me through the morning. An early morning walk with the dog helps too!

  140. 140

I take care of myself by getting a good night’s sleep and eating a wholesome, filling breakfast! :)

  141. 141

I take care of myself by getting a good night’s sleep – no TV or Internet too close to bedtime!

  142. 142
  143. 143

I have ALWAYS been a breakfast eater! I eat a healthy breakfast and work out every morning. I like to make the day start right so that at least one thing about my day goes well.

  144. 144
    Lauren Stewart says:

First, I love Quaker products, and I love Bob the trainer! I believe that taking care of yourself in the morning is extremely important for two reasons: it sets my attitude and outlook for the entire day, and it also sets the tone for what you will put in your body the rest of the day. I choose my attitude and think positive. I also pick my breakfast wisely (often searching my favorite blogs for ideas), whether it be a warm bowl of oatmeal, or dry cereal in a baggie partnered with a banana. Happy Veteran’s Day ;)

  145. 145
    Terri from Sunnyvale, CA says:

I take care of myself by never skipping breakfast. My workweek breakfast is usually cereal, oatmeal (when it’s cold) or yogurt, fruit & granola.

  146. 146

    A big bowl of OATS!

  147. 147

I feel like I do a pretty good job of taking care of myself – especially in the mornings. I get 7-8 hours of sleep and wake up to do an hour workout and top it off with a great breakfast. Lately it’s been oatmeal with yogurt, banana, chia seeds, soy milk and some pb! It’s filling and keeps me going ’till lunch. I’ve recently gotten into yoga too so that DVD looks really good!

  148. 148

I take care of myself in the morning by giving myself a solid, well-rounded breakfast with the protein I need to keep me going on my busy days!

I think trying a Bob Harper yoga dvd would be another great way to take care of myself in the mornings. ;)

  149. 149

I take care of myself by eating breakfast which is a big deal for me (since I haven’t always been a breakfast eater). I’m a huge fan of oatmeal too! :)

  150. 150

I wake up and make myself a warm mug of lemon water, it wakes me up and hydrates me!

  151. 151

In the morning I always make sure I eat a healthy breakfast. It the first thing I look forward to starting my day!

  152. 152

I take care of myself by packing my breakfast and lunch in the morning so I eat good throughout the day

  153. 153

I take care of myself and my dog every morning by taking him for a 30 min run around the neighborhood.

  154. 154

I always lie in bed for about ten minutes – the first five minutes are spent thinking about things to be happy about for the day, and the second five are spent thinking about my schedule for the day. I find that this ten minute routine helps me prepare for the day and puts me in a good mood, even on the days when I wake up on the wrong side of the bed.

  155. 155

I always always always have breakfast and pack my food for the day so that I don’t end up buying junk!

  156. 156

    I tweeted! @fabulous_april

  157. 157

  161. 161

I make suree to give myself extra time to relax and read in the morning! :)

  162. 162

I’ve been plagued by back pain for years so to take care of myself every morning I wake up early, drink a bunch of water, then do physical therapy exercises before work. It is so important that I keep up the habit and keep my core strong to prevent further injury.

  163. 163

I sleep, lots and lots of sleep. And make sure I drink enough water!

  164. 164

I just tweeted!! er, retweeted you but it’s a tweet none the less!

  165. 165

In the mornings I either run or go to yoga and have a warm bowl of oatmeal and a pipping hot cup of coffee. I love adding toppings to oatmeal, packaged or the bulk stuff!

  166. 166

I love running to the sunrise in the morning!

  167. 167

In the morning I make sure to pack healthy food for the upcoming work day. On weekends when I have more time I make myself a bowl of Quaker old fashioned oats at least one of the days. Something about it is so comforting.

  168. 168

I take care of myself in the morning by getting prepared the night before.
I go to sleep at a reasonable hour, laying out everything i need for a smooth morning. I set up the coffee maker, and plan breakfast. In the morning, having all these things ready helps me not have to think about getting off to a good start. I’m not fully awake until like ten, so i’m on autopilot until then.
It would be so easy to just wake up late and stop for a sugary coffee drink and a pastry somewhere, or swing by the drive through, but if things are set out the night before, i won’t even think about those options.

  169. 169
    Katharine Burd says:

I have a bowl of oatmeal and go for a run!

  170. 170

I work out each morning — stationary bike or running and then eat cut-up fruit and a slice of banana bread! (And I have a mug of coffee before all that, too!)

  171. 171

What a great giveaway! I take care of myself in the morning by eating a hearty breakfast that will fuel me well through the morning. Without adequate food in the morning, I am worthless (and a grump!).

  172. 172

I love my morning routine and it helps me start the day out right, a few days I am at the gym and others I enjoy listening to the radio while getting ready. As soon as I get to work I have a big cup of tea and oatmeal.

  173. 173

Every morning, I get up and walk my dog. We take about a 30-45 min walk around the city. It gives her and I exercise and wakes us up!

I also sit with my coffee and have Me time. Whether I read some of my book or play scrabble on my phone. It is 15 min of silent time before work.

  174. 174

Thanks for the great giveaway! I take care of myself in the morning by taking my vitamins and eating a hearty, healthy breakfast. I also love drinking several cups of green tea in the morning to make me feel recharged and renewed.

  177. 177

Hi Anne, it was great to meet you at the Foodbuzz Festival. Thanks for taking the time to say hello and chit chat with me. We crossed path each time I was ready to taste more food :)

I take care of myself every morning but making sure I start the day off right by eating a healthy and delicious meal and I pack my healthy lunch to work every morning too.

    Thanks for doing this giveaway.

  178. 178

I give myself time to relax, wake up, and prepare myself for my day ahead. This includes a good, filling and healthy breakfast, tea, and time to sit back and have a moment for myself.

  179. 179

I make sure that I get up early enough to have some time to myself first thing in the morning. Sometimes that means going to for a jog, watching morning tv, or just sitting in the dark sipping coffee. It is my favorite part of the day no matter what I do :)

  180. 180

I take time in the morning to make sure that I fuel my body for the day ahead. I sometimes have to get up really early to get to clinicals/the hospital at 7, sometimes with a drive an hour to get to that place – I know it’s early, but I still make sure that I get a good and healthy breakfast in my stomach before I walk out the door!

  181. 181
  182. 182

I take care of my self by doing a little bit of stretching right when I wake up, and having a big healthy breakfast prepped the night before!

    Monique Gagnon says:

People make fun of me, but I make sure I’m in bed between 9:30 and 10 so I can get a solid 8 hours of sleep! Sometimes I work out first thing, sometimes I don’t, but I always have a breakfast packed with me to eat when I get to work, which will always include fruit (banana and berries) and either cold cereal, hot cereal, english muffin, or a yogurt bowl.

  184. 184

I take care of myself in the morning by doing as much as possible the night before! (prep work clothes, pack lunch and snacks, plan and prep for breakfast, and put anything I need for the next day in one spot!) This way I get a good nights sleep without those “did I remember to…” thoughts crowding my mind.

  185. 185

I make sure I make my breakfast whether oatmeal or eggs the night before so that if I sleep in I am still able to have a good breakfast, I just bring it to work and reheat!

  186. 186

I take care of myself by always eating a substantial breakfast and taking my vitamins… in the form of gummies and chocolate calcium supplements of course :)

  187. 187

I start my day with a relaxing cuppa green tea and a healthy and delicious breakfast, and sit down to read a chapter of a book, the paper or blogs… just a little morning de-stresser!

  188. 188

Besides always working out in the morning and getting enough sleep, I always dedicate AT LEAST 20 minutes to ‘just me’ time in the morning to drink coffee and let myself wake up. No matter what time I’ve went to bed the night before- I always have those 20 minutes to not think about anything!

  189. 189

this box is so full of love. amazing.

  197. 197

Wowzers, Quaker, nicely done! I often do just a little workout in the am just to kick the day off right. I walk the dog for about 15-20 min and then usually do a little weight lifting or yoga. Better than a cup of coffee, I tell ya!

  198. 198

I get three children up and ready by myself every morning (husband leaves for work VERY ealry), so I make sure I take care of everything the night before. Backpacks, lunches, my running gear, etc. are all set before going to bed. I still manage to get a good night’s sleep and wake ready to start my day. I get my breakfast (greek yogurt, fruit, and oats) and coffee in before I have to get the kids up. It’s the only way our family can function stree free!

  205. 205

I take care of myself and my kids by getting up early enough to eat a good breakfast (Quaker’s low sugar oatmeal–and I’m not just saying that so I win) and to spend some quality time together before we all head in our own direction for the day. Nothing prepares you for the day like laughing with your family.

  213. 213

  230. 230

  231. 231

I wake up early to walk the dog, exercise, and eat a good breakfast — usually involving oats, natch!

  232. 232

I do the same as you: sleep and a good breakfast, but recently I also started drinking 2 glasses of water. I down those glasses as the first thing I do, before breakfast. During a workshop at work a fitness expert suggested it as a way to “flush the system” and get your day started off on the right foot. And I’ve stuck by it ever since then. Not sure how factual it is, but it definitely makes me feel good and awake each morning. Then I follow that with a yummy, quick breakfast and I’m out the door. :-)

  233. 233

I always try and eat a good hearty breakfast every morning. I really wish I could get up earlier and practice yoga before work.

  235. 235

I workout every morning. I start with a minimum 30 min. warm up followed by a strength training workout. I have a German Shepherd who is my running partner so after the strength training, we go for our run.
He’s been a good influence since I BQ’d! Yay! I’ll be in Boston come April.
(sorry – a little burst of enthusiasm there…)

My workout is followed by a healthy breakfast of oatmeal with fruit and a protein shake. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

    GREAT contest!

p.s. I’ve done a similar concoction with my oatmeal (the pumpkin one)! It was SOOO yummy!

  257. 257

I try to eat a really healthy breakfast first thing in the morning. It sets me up for a good day of making healthy choices.

I love oatmeal in the morning and I always try to buy Quaker!! I also love how motivational Bob can be!!! Oatmeal and Bob in the morning, how could you NOT have a great day!!

  260. 260

  263. 263

Weather permitting, I take care of myself by getting up early for a run – even when the first thing I want to do is hit the alarm and head back to bed. Such a physical and mental boost! Being outside in the chilly air, all by myself can be such a treat to start the day – and it’s almost decadent to see the city and surrounding area before everyone else gets up.

Giving myself 15 minutes before my daughter wakes up to drink some coffee and slowly come into consciousness- before the daily roller coaster begins!

  270. 270

    Oooooh… I want!

I watch or listen to the news while getting ready for work – this helps get my wheels turning. Additionally, I take a women’s multivitamin with a giant glass of water. And of course I always make sure to eat a hearty, filling breakfast before heading out the door.

  271. 271

I wake up to my wonderful daughter and we share a healthy breakfast and a few laughs. Also a large glass of water for the both of us.:)

  274. 274

I take care of myself in the morning by getting lots of sleep (and I always try to wake up around the same time each day for circadian continuity when possible) and eating breakfast every day! Quaker oatmeal is a definite go-to in cold cold Boston!! I keep some at work too for days when I need to just get myself started at work ASAP, I can still have my oatmeal :)

  275. 275

I used to be a terrible breakfast eater, so for the past several years I have been planning out my morning breakfast at the beginning of the week. I typically make some sort of egg bake or muffin to reheat throughout the week and then add a fruit with it if needed. But it makes a huge difference in my energy level throughout the morning.

  276. 276

Fun giveaway! I definitely get plenty of sleep each night and I make sure to eat a balanced breakfast with plenty of protein, carbs, and a fruit!

  277. 277

I wake up and immediately chug water– I like to start my day fully hydrated!

  278. 278

My mornings are early and are best spent on the sofa in my slippers, journal and Bible in my lap. Then comes breakfast (and coffee is a plus), and sometimes I even throw something easy in the crockpot that will be ready when I get home from a long day of work… so I’d say that’s care that lasts all day long!

I made an entry at my blog: http://fatfeministfitnessblog.blogspot.com/ to get people to come over here and enter. Who doesn’t love free stuff? Especially free yoga and oatmeal related stuff?

    Here’s the specific post:

    I also tweeted about it. I’m @dijonddavis.

  281. 281

I always make sure to have breakfast and copious amounts of coffee before leaving the house. Well, I am not sure if the coffee is to take care of myself or protect the rest of humankind… :-)

  282. 282

I adore my mornings: I wake up with my darling puppy usually sleeping on my back or in the nook of my neck. We take a short little walk, she eats her puppy food, and I usually eat fiber-rich cereal or weight management oatmeal with cut up sliced frozen banana! It is a lovely, and all too-short morning ritual!

  283. 283

I take care of myself in the morning by opening my eyes and immediately thanking God for the many blessings He has given me! I listen to the sound of my husband and daughter in our little house and I know that I am blessed.

  284. 284

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I always make sure that I have something quick and healthy on hand like kashi heart to heart or oatmeal. I love oatmeal!

  285. 285

I love getting workouts in in the morning (if I can pull myself out of bed in time) and always make sure to have a healthy breakfast full of protein, fiber and good fats. Actually 98% of most mornings I begin with eating oatmeal! :)

  286. 286

I take care of myself in the morning by going on a long walk with him in the mornings. Getting some outside time and puppy time in the morning wakes me up and gets me ready for the day at work. On snowy days like today, I’ll do some morning yoga.

  287. 287

I make sure to take my vitamins…and I try to get up early enough that I have a few minutes to mentally prepare for the day instead of feeling stressed before I even leave the house!

  288. 288

I take care of myself every morning by rolling out of bed, opening my curtains, & preparing a muy delicioso breakfast that usually consists of: a piece of fruit, yogurt, & cereal (hot or cold) to make a parfait! Most recently, in honor of fall, it is: pumpkin puree+cottage cheese+cinnamon+sugar+apple+kashi go lean OR oatmeal… OH EM GEE :D (I ordered 12 cans of organic pumpkin puree on Amazon a couple of weeks ago when I worried about the pumpkin shortage… Ironically, as soon as my order arrived, pumpkin puree made its debut back in stores :P)

While devouring this deliciousness, I typically watch The Today Show (giggle out loud often) & catch up on emails…

  289. 289

I take care of myself in the morning by getting enough sleep, making a nutritious breakfast and most importantly, allowing myself enough time to relax and eat breakfast. I need to wake up slowly. If I don’t have a good start to my day, I know the rest of my day won’t go as well.

  290. 290

I do not miss my oatmeal bowl every morning. Someone asked me the other day if I ever get tired of it and I said no! I just mix it up, I change the toppings from time to time and that is variety!

  291. 291

I take care of myself with a kick butt workout followed by a hearty, delicious, healthy breakfast – usually oatmeal or a yogurt bowl :)

  292. 292

My taking care of myself routine is pretty basic …get 7-8 hours of sleep, a good workout and a healthy breakfast. Of course some days the workout suffers for the sleep…but I always get the breakfast right :)

  293. 293

    YUM!
I take care of myself by getting up a little early, making a yummy breakfast and enjoying a cup of coffee while getting ready for work. I hate to be rushed it stresses me out! So, a little less z’s make me much happier!

  294. 294

Thanks to finding inspiration on healthy living blogs, I now start my day with an early morning run or yoga and a big bowl of oatmeal with almond butter.

  295. 295

I make sure that I start the day by drinking a few glasses or water to help rehydrate my body. I also brush my teeth well and have a good-for-me breakfast like oatmeal or Greek yogurt. And every now and then I turn on the iTunes dance mix and move a little before I leave for work!

  296. 296

I always start the morning with some fruit and H2O with lemon to flush out the toxins.

  297. 297

I take care myself in the morning by (and I know this is going to sound cliche) eating breakfast! It’s my favorite meal of the day, so I never miss it, and I know it’s good for me to start the day off with a good meal

  298. 298

I always get plenty of sleep and get up early so I have time to make a healthy breakfast (usually oatmeal or eggs and whole wheat toast), pack a healthy lunch and snacks for work, and go for a little walk with my dog to start the day. Nothing wakes me up in the morning better than walking my dog in the fresh air! Great Giveaway!

  299. 299

I always get plenty of sleep, spend a couple of minutes on my devotional and get a healthy breakfast.

  300. 300

i always try to get a good night’s sleep and first thing when i wake up i take vitamins and drink at least 16 oz of water to get me started for the day…sometimes i run but regardless i floss my teeth, many people overlook flossing and it’s soooo important to health!

  301. 301

    i just tweeted ;)

  302. 302

I usually look forward to having oatmeal in the morning. Banana in it makes a world of difference. A few raisins and almonds mixed in and the morning starts off right! I also give my dog and cat a big hug and kiss every morning!

  303. 303

Good night sleep, work out and breakfast!

  304. 304

Mornings are pretty early for me … I wake up at 5:30 for work. I have learned that I MUST allow myself enough time to wake up. I do not feel good all morning if I rush to get to work. I give myself enough time to wake up, feed my dog, feed myself :), play with my dog for a few minutes, and check my email before heading out the door.

  305. 305

start off with breakfast – plan my workout for the day

  306. 306

I begin my day with a good run, a big bowl of oats, take my vitamins and I try to read a verse in my Bible or a word of inspiration. Then I’m ready to teach 17 little first graders.

  307. 307

I tweeted!!! But besides breakfast I always allow some me time. Sounds crazy that I get even earlier than need be but I enjoy my coffee/tea and watching some news with my slippers on! Starts a crazy day off right!! :)

I, unfortunately, am still getting my morning routine down. I was doing well for a while in terms of eating a good breakfast and whatnot, but now I’m slipping. This morning, for example, I had an eggo waffle and a spoonful of mint chocolate chip ice cream, then coffee and a handful of almonds once I got to work. Weird? Yes. I need to hop back on the oatmeal train though – it’s so filling and delicious!

  415. 415

sounds like the makings of a good family breakfast

  416. 416

I like to make myself a good breakfast of oat bran and chia seeds! I add in banana or applesauce for flavoring, and a little splash (just a tablespoon or so) of half and half on top. Yummy! If I’m in a time crunch or traveling, I will use a packet of instant oatmeal. I especially like the lower sugar and ones with nuts. Even better would be an option with some flavor jazz, like cranberries or apple, yet no sugar at all so that we are free to choose our own. People are so picky about their sweetener of choice that it’s hard to please everyone.

  417. 417

I usually don’t have that much time in the morning, but once I get to work I make some oatmeal or have a banana with my tea while reading my email to catching up on blogs. It’s usually nice and quiet and helps me get in gear for the rest of the day.

    Thanks for the fabulous giveaway!

I get everything ready the night before so I am not stressed. I make sure to get 7-8 hours a sleep.

  441. 441

I get up before my roommate so I can have a quiet cup of tea. A few minutes of me-time never fails to make the mornings pain free.

  442. 442

I start my mornings off with planning ahead, which allows me to not be running around like a crazy person, in a huge rush. I think how your day starts off, very much sets the tone for the rest of the day.

I try to get my seven hours of sleep and always set the coffee pot to go off about ten minutes before i am getting up. Nothing like waking up to the smell of a freshly brewed pot of coffee!

The first thing I do at 4:30 am is to thank the God that created me for another day to serve him and to take care of the body that he blessed (cursed) me with ; ). Then my husband and I have coffee together and then we go upstairs at which point I either do free weights for my bone density and then 30-45 minutes of step or recumbant bike or 45 minutes of intervals on my elliptical. Our dog helps us exercise as well by bringing us the ball in between rests with the weights and having us throw it to him. We then shower and have a hearty breakfast together. We believe the couple that exercises together stays together!

  446. 446

I start my morning with a glass of water. After getting dressed and ready for work i then have oatmel or whole grain waffels along with 8oz of skim milk

  447. 447

I take care of my self in the morning by getting my exercising done first thing and then having a healthy breakfast before heading off to work.

  448. 448

Hey Anne! I always go for a small jog or a long yoga session in the morning. combine that with an AMAZING breakfast and a hot shower… woooohoooo … that’s how Ive been taking on Med School for the past 2 & a half years lol
I always advise my classmates to do SOMETHING.. ANYTHING.. get moving! WALK UR DOG! U’d think us future MDs would practice what we preach but most of my classmates eat leftover pizza for breakfast or skip breakfast all together.
I’m a morning person (were close to extinct lol) so I love working up a sweat, making some yummy oats or a cool bowl of yogurt and granola or a bowl of cereal.
    MUST GET FUEL!
& dont forget the coffee =]

I always start my morning off with a good sweat in the gym! It feels so great to start my day off by taking care of my body with good exercise!

  451. 451

I start most mornings by running or doing yoga around 5:30. Then after showering, a good breakfast (often with oats; but I have to change it up to not get bored!) with my husband and two-year-old son. I do my best to start my little one’s day off right by serving him a healthy breakfast too.

  452. 452

I hit the snooze but quite a bit, I eat breakfast…that’s about all I can do for myself in the a.m.

  453. 453

I make sure I have a good breakfast, usually oatmeal, fruit, nuts and coffee. Then I exercise to set me up for a good day!

Oh my gooosshhhh. This is going to sound so SILLY and desperate, but I’m in serious need of an alarm clock. Of all the goodies in the entire package, I would be most excited about winning that (hard to believe when there’s such an awesome selection of oats!!). I’ve been super thrifty lately, waiting for one to land in the consignment store where I take my donations because stuff is really cheap there, but no luck so far! haha. I take care of myself in the morning by always eating breakfast. It’s so important!! I love a good filling bowl of oats or cereal with some kind of protein…and usually, banana & pb is a must!! xo.

I work for a corporate restaurant so no steady sleeping, exercising or eating patterns. I make sure I start the morning with a yummy bowl of oatmeal. This is the one thing I am consistent about. I love Quaker Old Fashioned Oats. I do make my own nut butters so the oatmeal is topped with 2 tablespoons of granola & 1 tablespoon of nut butter (usually peanut or almond). PERFECT! If I change it up & eat yogurt or something else… big difference. Does not hold me over like the bowl of oatmeal does.

I make sure I have enough time to make breakfast and that I’m not rushing. When I rush, I have a not-so-great start to the day!

  461. 461

    And I tweeted :)

  462. 462

I don’t get enough sleep and rarely have breakfast so I can’t really say I do much at all for myself. I take care of my husband and my kids..

  463. 463

I like getting up a little early so I can make steel cut oatmeal. It’s my favorite type of hot cereal and so worth the 20 minute cooking time! While eating breakfast, I watch the news and read my websites. It’s a nice peaceful way to start the day and it gives me “me” time.

  464. 464

I try (I admit sometimes I sleep too late) to get up and get a healthy breakfast every morning.

  465. 465

I take care of myself in the morning by sticking to my morning routine. I always drink water, exercise and eat breakfast.

  466. 466

On weekdays, I go to the gym and get in some exercise every morning before work. On weekends, I get some extra sleep!

My mornings are full of routines! When my music alarm goes off (i hate buzzers) I lay in bed and take a few big deep breaths. I find this really wakes up my brain and allows me to grasp getting out of a warm cozy bed. I can think about the day ahead of me and what needs to be done or try to remember a silly dream. Even if I wake up on my own, without an alarm I like to take a few deep breaths and stretch a bit in bed before getting up. After I get up I head downstairs to the shower, and brew 2 cups of coffee before hoping in. After I get myself ready, I always drink a glass of water before eating or drinking anything else. You loose lots of water through sweat throughout the night- time to hydrate! Then I make my lunch and eat breakfast- in varying orders. Breakfasts range from organic yogurt topped with walnuts and/or fruit, eggs and whole grain nutty toast with OJ or fibrous cereal with 1.5% milk topped with walnuts and/or fruit. Sometimes I have time for reading the news on the internet- and others I dont! Mornings are great. :)

  472. 472

I like to pre-cook steal cut oats with flax on the weekend to eat all week and flavor with whatever suits my fancy that day….usually homemade nut butter. Then I take the time to eat the whole bowl with my dog so that she gets some “mommy time” before the hussle and bustle!

I take care of myself in the morning by doing as much planning and laying out of stuff the night before as possible. I like no stress and chaos in the morning, just the sounds of my kids slurping their cereal, and me slurping my coffee, so I make sure that there are few surprises in the AM.

I heart oatmeal, and eat it for breakfast at least 3 times per week. I try to get enough sleep and just recently have started getting up to workout before work. I have found I am a much happier person throughout the day when I do.

  492. 492

Every morning without fail I start the day with a banana and glass of OJ. This is before I have my actual breakfast. And 8-9 hours of sleep.

  493. 493

by drinking lots of coffee ;)
i make sure to get a good sleep and get ready at night for the following morning so i’m not stressed in the am

I wake up bright and early and have a pre-workout snack consisting of a Larabar or Clif bar and a banana. Then I head off for a fantastic workout- it really makes me a better person for the day. Then I pack oatmeal with raisins, walnuts, flaxseed, maple flavoring, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and canned pumpkin. It smells so delicious!
