Turkey Bowl & Turkey Soup

Hello friends! I’m back in North Carolina and thoroughly sick of airports and planes. But, I had a 3 hour layover in DC so my mom came to meet me for dinner! Yay :)

I had a fun last day of Thanksgiving vacay up in Pittsburgh — there were even some snow flurries! Brrrrr! It was FREEZING all day.

007

In honor of the snow, I made a batch of my Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal this morning for Matt and his parents!

002

They liked it :) Yay!

004

Along with it, we had some pretty grapefruit. Yum!

006

Then this afternoon, Matt and his buddies had their annual “Turkey Bowl”!

026

Matt wore a Santa Hat, obviously.

027

Janice (Matt’s friend Tom’s girlfriend) and I decided it was way too cold to sit and watch the boys play and headed off on a workout of our own!

024

Ready for action ;)

025

We ran about 3 miles around town — it felt good to get a workout in! My legs were actually still kind of sore from an awesome workout at Matt’s parent’s YMCA on Thanksgiving day, though, haha.

Upon arrival back at Matt’s parent’s place, we discovered Matt’s dad had made an AWESOME homemade leftover Thanksgiving turkey soup!

020

Beautiful, right? It was full of turkey, veggies, mushrooms, and wild rice. Deeeelish and the perfect warm meal after our cold workouts :)

019

I’m off to bed — goodnight! Stay tuned — tomorrow I’ll be posting the recipe for the awesome ceviche you guys saw pictures of in my Thanksgiving feast post!

That’s such a good idea to make turkey soup. I usually make a turkey salad with a bit of mayo for sandwiches. This is a good switch.

Looks like such a fun time! :) And the soup looks incredible… I might have to whip up a batch of my own soup after a cold run this afternoon!
