Win a $50 iHerb.com Shopping Spree!

Recently, a company called iHerb contacted me, asking if I would like a $50 shopping spree for myself and a $50 shopping spree for one of my readers. Um, yes please!

iHerb

I’d actually never heard of iHerb before, but I soon found out that they are an online reseller that carries close to 20,000 natural products, including vitamins, herbal supplements (vegan, vegetarian, raw, gluten free), cosmetic/skincare products, and, my favorite — over 1,000 grocery items (many of them organic)! This site is awesome if you’ve been having trouble finding things like brown rice syrup, chia seeds, whole wheat pastry flour, and the like locally. They have it all — it’s like an online Whole Foods or something! Sweet :) Plus, they offer free shipping for orders over $40 and their website is super simple and easy to navigate.

With my $50 shopping spree, I purchased the following goodies:

002

First up — Organic Whole Wheat Pastry Flour. I was all out and as you know, I use it in almost all my muffin recipes!

004

Next up — a huge container of Chia Seeds! These are nutritional superstars and I toss them in oatmeal, cereal, and baked goods.

008

Next were a few things I’ve been wanting to try but hadn’t gotten around to yet — Nutritional Yeast Flakes:

007

Organic Coconut Oil:

006

And Hemp Seeds! Also majorly nutritious.

003

I’m excited because nutritional yeast, hemp seeds, and coconut oil are called for in a number of the awesome looking recipes in this book by Brendan Brazier.

010

It’s called Thrive: The Vegan Nutrition Guide to Optimal Performance in Sports and Life. Clearly I’m far from vegan, but I’m a big fan of vegan and vegetarian recipes and it’s always fun to mix things up and try cooking with ingredients you don’t know as well. If you’re looking for some new super healthy recipes and a very interesting read (he goes into a lot of detail about which foods are good for you and why, nutritionally), I’d highly recommend this book. It even includes a 12-week meal plan and over 100 allergen-free recipes with raw food options. Cool!

The last thing I purchased with my $50 shopping spree was this little tube of Vanilla Vegan Hemp Lip Balm! Hehe. Just for fun :)

005

ANYWAY! Back to the purpose of this post — a giveaway! Want to win your own $50 shopping spree on iHerb.com?

  50. 51

I was so confused when I first opened your post – I had been on iherb MINUTES before and thought I had clicked on the wrong page. I’ve ordered vitamins and other supplments before and have been very pleased. I’d like to order a calcium supplment and some nutritional yeast flakes.

  51. 52

I am SO jealous you got to spend $50 on this site! They have so many amazing products! If I won I would buy a bunch of supplements: liquid aloe vera, DHA, and probably a good B vitamin! This site has so many things to choose from it was really be hard! I WANT EVERYTHING :)

    ReTweet!

  57. 58

I would also like to buy coconut oil and other fun ingredients that are hard to shell out the money for at the store when you are not sure you will like them or will know what to do with them. Maybe I will buy ingredients to make homemade sushi! That would be fun and I have never tried to make sushi before!

  58. 59

I would love the wheat bran, flax seed, lip balm , and to try all the different coffees!

  59. 60

  64. 65

I can never find the fancy flours in a bunch of recipes, so it’d be great to get those!

  65. 66

  68. 69

So fun! I’m entering. :) What do you do with Nutritional Yeast Flakes? I’ve never heard of them!

Now Foods, Healthy Foods, Certified Organic Flax Seed Meal (also never used flax seed and think I could bake some yummy things with it)
Bob’s Red Mill, Organic Extra Thick Rolled Oats (because I love making homemade granola and always need oats)
Avalon Organics, Lavender Renewal & Vitality Hydrating Toner (because this sounds SO refreshing!)

I might get a box of Larabars that aren’t available in Canada – chocolate chip cookie dough or chocolate chip brownie? (or both) They’re out of stock at the moment, however.

Other things that caught my eye include raw cacao nibs, coconut oil & body lotion.

  71. 74

Thanks for the giveaway! I would try flax seeds & coconut oil

  148. 152

I would love to check out this company for more alternatives to supplement my newly-acquired wheat-free/dairy-free diet. Living in upstate New York, where we are deprived of both Whole Foods AND Trader Joes, I’ve been purchasing most of my spelt, chia seeds, xanthum gum and potato starch either online or directly from the ONE gluten-free bakery in the area (which is $$$). So I will be checking out this company even if I don’t win your contest!
Love your blog and your recipes! And a very big THANK YOU for letting your readers travel and run marathons vicariously (two things I’d love to do but somehow don’t get around to : )

  149. 154
