I’m back with highlights from day 2 of Fitbloggin’ — the fitness and health blogger’s conference! It FLEW by — I can’t believe the conference is already over!
Love this picture! From left — Brittany, Sana, Theodora, Jaclyn, Courtney, Gabriela, me, Tina!
Day 2 of Fitbloggin’ was just as fun as day 1! Some highlights:
1) Playing hooky (twice) and strolling in the sunshine with blogger friends. I heart walking breaks!

It was gorgeous in Baltimore yesterday!
2) Filming videos of fellow bloggers for Stonyfield’s “Fueled by Oikos” campaign — stay tuned for a video compilation post soon! Matt (one of the few male healthy living bloggers) and Jennifer (pictured below with me) and a few other bloggers also gave me interviews. Thanks guys!
3) A really interesting session on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) from another Matt — my friend Matt of No Meat Athlete!
SEO is basically whether, when someone searches for keywords that are related to your blog (like fitness, health, recipes, nutrition, etc.), your blog actually comes up in Google or not. SEO is not my strength at all (I get almost no traffic from Google searches) so this session was really helpful!
Some SEO tips if you’re a blogger:
- Make your links keywords instead of just your blog name. (For example: “My name is Anne and I blog about easy healthy recipes and running at fANNEtastic food!” vs. linking the “fANNEtastic food” part)
- Write your own bio (with specific keyword links) to include if you’re sending someone a guest post.
- Clear, keyword-related and search-able blog titles > “cute” blog titles
And that’s a wrap! As always, the best part of blog conferences is seeing my friends and making new ones
Great seeing a bunch of you guys!
My mom came and picked me up in Baltimore around 5:30 last night after the conference ended so I could spend the rest of the weekend in DC. We have a ton of family in town for a mini-family reunion so it was perfect timing, and last night was my grandmother’s birthday party! I’m so glad we were all here to celebrate
I’m off to some more family fun — have a great Sunday!

It was so awesome meeting you! I can’t wait for that video to come out
Anne, I did not know what SEO meant until know. That is exactly how I found your blog. It was about the time I had decided that it was time for me to take control of my diabetes and I started grasping for anything I felt I could do to help the situation. I had a brainstorm to Google and that’s what I did. I Googled healthy foods, fitness blogs and up popped fannetastic food.com. The rest is history. I became an avid reader and follower of your blog ever since. Love you.
No way, really? Well that’s awesome that apparently I sometimes do come up in searches, hehe. Thanks!
It was great getting to hang out again Anne!!
I’m so glad your visiting Mom and her family…wish I was there!
Please give Grandma a kiss, and wish her a very Happy Birthday from us
(I LOVE birthdays!)
Enjoy the weekend with “the crew” and please send them out best!
We are all basically awesome
It was so great to see you, although I wish I’d had more time to chat
I loved the SEO session, too, especially the tips to start using anchor texts more carefully…
I wish we’d had more time to chat, too!
I had such a good time hanging out with you this weekend! I only wish we had more time
Hopefully we’ll get together again sooner than later!
I think that first picture is my favorite of the entire conference! We definitely lucked out with the weather yesterday. It was great spending time with you and everyone else, hope you enjoyed the rest of the weekend with your family!
I keep seeing all these recaps from fitbloggin im soo jealous!
It was great seeing you again! I had fun walking around – the weather was gorgeous!! Hope to see you soon!!
(I stole some pics!)
I had such a good time rooming with you!! We definitely missed you last night! We needed your superb dancing skills.
I didn’t know there was a convention for fitness and bloggers. Thanks for sharing some of the tips you learned. I’m going to have to look for that conference next year.
Looks like a great time at the conference!
I’m a bit jealous we dont have food/fitness conferences for bloggers here in the Middle East!
I still have so much to learn about SEO. Looks like a fun time!
Thank for sharing those SEO tips. Do you know the name of the panel so I can look it up online?
I’ve been reading a few others and I really want to make an effort to make it to the next blogging event!! So much helpful info!
It was called: SEO for Fitness Bloggers: Increasing Visits and Monetizing Search Traffic.
