Lululemon Run Club & Georgetown Boot Camp

Morning, friends!

Last night was my favorite — the Tuesday night Lululemon Georgetown run club!

We did one of our standard loops — a 4.2 ish mile run down along the water, across the river to VA, up the other side, and back to Georgetown. It was pretty hot out but we had fun chatting — definitely one of those nights where if I’d been running alone, I probably would have been walking. Ah, the benefits of running with other people — wherein your ego keeps your legs going. :)

We ended our run at the beautiful Georgetown campus.

This was our fearless leader Stacy’s last week working for Lululemon (though she hopes to join for the run club occasionally still — and don’t worry, there are still people to lead the group!), so we had a mini-boot camp after the run in her honor. She went to Georgetown, so it was her boot camp location of choice! Such a gorgeous campus — it was fun to be up there.

Chris from Crossfit Dupont led us in a 4 minute workout named “Stacy.” For 4 minutes, we repeated the following:

  • 10 bench step ups (5 step ups on each leg)

  • Broad jumps until reaching the sidewalk

  • 10 push ups

  • Waking lunges back to the benches and repeat!

Whew! It may have only been 4 minutes, but my legs were burning. :) Great workout with great company, too! As I’ve said before — come join us if you’re in the area! The run club is totally free and every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., leaving from the Georgetown Lululemon store.

Have a happy Wednesday, friends!

Are you part of a run or workout club where you live? Do you find it helps your motivation to push yourself? My workouts with other people are almost always way more fun and effective than those by myself.

Looks so fun!!! I love an outdoor boot camp!!! Or any workout outside for that matter :)

  2. 2

I’m part of DC Road Runners – training for Marine Corps in October! There is no way I’d be able to get through marathon training without a ton of other people experiencing the same thing.

Love hearing your reports on the Lululemon run club–I’m finally going to try to come next week! I always want to go to Crossfit Tuesday nights but reading about your fun times at the run club is inspiring me. And LOVE that you guys did a bootcamp on the Gtown campus!

You should definitely come! Matt and I were sad to miss Crossfit last night – love that the SWOD was handstands – as former gymnasts, Matt and I would have been all over that! :)

I’m nervous because I really am NOT a natural runner, but as long as there’s a slow group, I’m set. And actually because it was a CFDC class (versus the CFDupont coaches), we did front squats instead of handstands! And lots of thrusters and burpees (= death). So you and Matt didn’t miss anything too exciting haha! Hopefully tonight’s class will be more of a gymnastic/playtime workout.

Don’t be nervous! That’s weird about Crossfit – why was it CFDC instead of CFDupont?

Well you know the classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays taught by Tom and Chris? They technically run CFDC and just run their classes at CFDupont. They have a different website too: crossfitdc.blogspot.com vs crossfitdupont.com So sometimes the programming ends up being slightly different. Have a great weekend Anne!!

    I like working out alone.
But I always see different Running Clubs and various Fitness/Boot Camp Clubs workout in front of my home, Bayshore Blvd
(the groups are out there from 5am until 8pm -so it always keeps me excited to workout)

Even though I workout alone, it’s nice to see the same faces run and bike past me everyday.
It’s great to have some motivation and support to keep it exciting! ;-)

Never joined a workout or a run club – I think it’d be fun though! Definitely would be motivating when I’m having a lazy day.

Your running club looks like so much fun!

I’m not part of an official club, but we run with myTEAM TRIUMPH (an athletic ride-along program for challenged athletes-known as Captains. They’re partnered up with able-bodied athletes-known as Angels-and are pushed in adaptive race chairs), which hosts training runs once a week so we can meet and run with our Captains. It definitely helps keep me motivated! I’m hoping to find a running club to join after the mTT race season is over, though!

It’s so funny how much Georgetown looks like Princeton. I wonder if they had the same architect. Granted, I have no idea if they’re even remotely close in age, but, I’m going to wonder all the same.

    Looks like so much fun.

Beautiful pictures! Love running by the water. I find my workouts with other people motivate me to workout harder and for longer. It is the ‘ If they can, so can I’ mentality’. It is also a great way to not let exercise become too solitary, keeps you socialising and having fun at the same time!

Well done, neat pictures, and great workout. Always more fun training with others, especially during touch weather. Great work!

Wow!! Great job Anne, really hard, I would like to do or to be more fitness, but I cannot get the time, I think in your case single (for now)is not so complicated to have time to dedicate to fitness…I would like to do this more later, but I enjoy your blog always and preparing some of your recipes. Have a great week. Go ahead!

Ahh I’m pretty sure I saw you guys running up the exorcist stairs! Glad to see you had fun at my Georgetown home :)
