Girls’ Night: Yoga & Homemade Pizza

Morning!

I had another fun exercise + dinner date with my college BFF Turner on Tuesday night! We had plans to go running but it was stormy out; we decided it was perfect yoga weather, instead. :)

We hit up Stroga in Adams Morgan for a 50 minute power hour class. I was in need of some stretching — it felt GOOD! After yoga, we headed back to Turner’s apartment, where she made us pizza! Next time it’s my turn to make dinner. ;)

I was thoroughly impressed to find that Turner had made her own dough the day before! She swears by the NY Times No Knead Dough recipe — I need to try this. All you do is mix the ingredients and then let it sit overnight!

While we waited for the pizza, we enjoyed some wine. :)

And shortly, the timer was beeping (and the fire alarm was going off unnecessarily… ohhhhh, DC studio apartments) and our pizza was ready!

It was AMAZING. Best pizza I’ve had in ages. I think I might need to try this whole no knead bread dough thing out! I loved that the spinach was sautéed before being put on the pizza, too.

    This may sound weird but you are always doing such fun things. Every time I read your blog I think “man, that looks like fun”. So in short if I lived in DC I would totally want to be your friend! Sorry if this comment was strange…

    I have used a similar recipe (from Bon Appetit magazine) for pizza dough. I almost always make my own (the Bon Appetit receipe called for 7 cups of flour so I always have left over dough that I freeze for later). We are planning to make pizza this week though but I bought dough from Trader Joe’s instead this time.

    Yoga, Pizza, and Wine. Does it get better than that? Growing up we used to make our own dough pretty often but I haven’t done it yet as an adult. Maybe I’ll give this recipe a try – thanks for posting!

    I’ve never tried making my own dough! That pizza looks amazing, so clearly I need to try it sometime.

    That’s it, I’m having pizza for lunch. Looks so good – dare I try the dough too? I’m still scarred from my epic fail at growing a sourdough baby.

    Definitely make your own dough! It’s so easy and a lot of recipes make enough for 2 pizzas – so you can freeze half for later. I’ve used Jenna’s recipe (Eat Live Run) and just tried this no-rise recipe: http://www.kitchentrials.com/2012/01/05/quick-no-rise-pizza-crust/

    Anne, that pizza looks so good. That is one of mine and my husband’s favorite food. Yes, I make my own pizza crust and I make sure that I make it for me and my honey at least once a week, usually on Saturday afternoons. I never had an opportunity to go out with the girls. I married at 17 and have been very very busy since then. Hahaha. 10/23 is our 45th anniversary.

    I make my own dough all the time; we use what we need and freeze the rest for later. Just made some this morning; I’m going to top it with some leftover roast turkey, garlic sauce, and veg.

    My ultimate fav is Jenna’s Best Pizza Dough – http://www.eatliverun.com/the-best-pizza-dough/ I love adding rosemary to it. SO delish. But usually, I only have time for Trader Joes herb or a locally made pizza dough.

    I love homemade pizza but I have never made my own dough. I typically use store bought from Trader Joe’s. My favorite toppings are pineapple, and buffalo chicken. Great combo. :-)

    Yummy! That pizza looks delicious! I’m going to have to try that dough recipe. It sounds pretty easy.

    I always make my own dough! I use this recipe from Giada de Laurentis that I picked up from Bon Appetit like 5 years ago – it only takes about 1 min of kneading, can be ready in as little as an hour, and makes enough for 2 thinner crusts, perfect for the grill (which we often use to make pizzas)!
