CrossFit Squat Fail & Dinner Fun

IMG_2550

Morning friends! You know what’s awesome? Even though it’s only Tuesday, it’s actually more like Friday, because tomorrow is a holiday from work for me! Woohoo — can’t wait to sleep in. :) Last night, Matt and I hit up Crossfit Dupont for their 6 p.m. class. The WOD (workout of the day) was a weighted squat, where you hold a barbell on Continue Reading …

Hospital Internship Musings & Pete’s APizza

Good morning — TGIF! I’ve spent this week at my hospital dietetic internship on the cardiac floors — it’s been really interesting and I feel like I’ve actually helped some people because these are the types of patients that really need help with nutrition as they are getting ready to go home from the hospital. Oh, and FYI — if you Continue Reading …

Bloggers Take Boston

Good morning from Massachusetts! :) Man, I love New England and Boston, too. It’s nice to be back for a visit! As I mentioned, I’m here in town for a blogger event with Reebok today. Bloggers are coming in from all over, but there was a group of us that came up straight from the Fitness Magazine event yesterday in NYC. We traveled on the Continue Reading …

Goodbye, Biochem!

Guess what, friends? Today I have my very last exam of graduate school! Woohoo!!! Our biochem final exam is at noon. We had a review session at school yesterday, after which my classmate Maria and I stayed for a bit more studying, although we weren’t feeling very motivated. All of us are feeling rather wiped out at this point and tired of school, Continue Reading …

Raleigh in 3 Hours

A couple months ago, while procrastinating during one of our study sessions, I told my friend Maria that I’ve lived here in Chapel Hill for almost 2 years and basically never been to Raleigh (besides a couple super quick trips for specific events at night). Given that Maria went to NC State undergrad and has lived in the Raleigh area for years, Continue Reading …

The Hunger Games & Weekend Adventures

Hello and happy Sunday! Matt and I have been having a nice weekend here in Chapel Hill. On Friday night we saw The Hunger Games! We both loved it (and have both read all the books — don’t see the movie before you read the books!) — what did you guys think? I was really impressed with how they translated it all into a movie. Plus, it was Continue Reading …

Sore.

IMG_1569_thumb.jpg

Good morning, friends! Boy, was I sore yesterday after Sunday’s Tobacco Road Half Marathon! I’m still pretty sore today! Normal walking is okay, but going down stairs? Yikes. Scary sight: I definitely utilized the hobby/sideways shuffle down the stairs approach. :) Thankfully, though, I’m just super sore — nothing hurts or feels Continue Reading …

Back in the District

Hello from DC! It’s nice to be back in my old stomping groups — and especially my favorite running trail, the C&O Canal. My dad and I hit up the trail for a nice late morning run today. Great running weather out there! We did 5 miles in 40:45 — with negative splits, meaning we got faster as we went. Splits: Mile 1: 8:52 Continue Reading …
