Summer/Winter Weekend

This weekend, DC couldn’t decide whether it was late summer/early fall or dead of winter! We took advantage of the late summer/early fall portion of the weekend on Saturday with a hike! It was phenomenally nice out – mid 60’s with a nice warm sun and clear blue skies. We headed up to Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland with friends Shane, Continue Reading …

Marine Corps Marathon Training Reflections

Good morning! I wanted to share some reflections on my Marine Corps Marathon training based on questions I’ve gotten from you guys over the past couple months. Can’t believe it’s already been a week since I ran my third full marathon! Just a note that of course what works for me might not be what’s best for you. Listen to your body – and consult Continue Reading …

Marine Corps Marathon 2016 Race Recap

On Sunday, I ran the Marine Corps Marathon – my third full marathon, but my first in nearly 3 years, so it felt kind of like the first time again. Wow – where to even start with this recap?! (Previous marathon recaps: Richmond Marathon in November 2013 and LA Marathon in March 2014.) This was not an easy race (or training season, due to our Continue Reading …

Ready for 26.2!

I can’t believe that in just two short days I’ll be running the Marine Corps Marathon, my third full marathon! On one hand, it seems like I’ve been training FOREVER… but on the other hand it kind of crept up on me. I’m excited but also nervous… it’s been nearly 3 years since I’ve done a full and they are such a different beast from half marathons. Continue Reading …

Home Again!

Hey guys! I got back to DC last night after my travels in the beautiful Pacific Northwest! In case you missed it, here are the recaps: adventures in the other Washington + hiking Mt. St. Helens (<—intense but so cool). After saying goodbye to Matt on Monday morning, the rest of my time out west was spent on a press trip with fellow dietitians Continue Reading …

Fall Running in Boston

Hey guys! I spent the past few days in Boston for FNCE, the huge annual national Registered Dietitian conference. I’ll be back later this week to recap some of the conference and food happenings from the weekend, but first, some running fun! :) Rocking my Will Run for Bacon tank obvi :) We had absolutely phenomenal weather while in Boston – crisp Continue Reading …

Last Marathon Training Long Run!

This morning I got in my LAST long run of Marine Corps Marathon training!!! So exciting. The race is in 2 weeks and the weekend before the race I’ll be doing a long hike out in Seattle so I’m counting that as my last long run. ;) I had to get my long run in early once again this week because tomorrow I’m heading off to FNCE, the big annual Continue Reading …

Marine Corps Marathon Training 22 Miler

On Friday, before leaving town for the weekend, I tackled the longest long run on my Marine Corps Marathon training agenda: a 22 miler. When I was training for my first full marathon, the Richmond Marathon back in 2013, I did a similar approach with my two longest runs being a 20 miler and a 22 miler. I know some training plans only call for Continue Reading …
