I had such a great trail run this morning with my new friends and fellow masters students! 001

I love trail running and I’m so excited to know this trail is nearby! I’m also super excited to already have running buddies – that’s the hardest thing about moving to a new place as far as I’m concerned. ;)

003

We ran 5.14 miles in about 54 minutes. It’s hard to run fast on a hilly and rocky trail – gotta watch your feet so you don’t fall! :)

004

Are you guys fans of trail running? I think running on a trail makes running SO much more entertaining. We had a blast maneuvering through the hilly, rocky terrain and chatting away the whole time.

After the run, I bonded with an old friend – my foam roller! If you’re a runner and you don’t own one of these, I’d really recommend getting one! Here’s a link to the one I have. It made SUCH a huge difference for me when I was training for my first half marathon in the spring. Really helps with soreness and muscle recovery!

005

Speaking of my half marathon, look what I finally got around to buying for my car! :D

13.1, baby! :)

After my run, I met up with a high school friend for lunch (so excited to have an old friend nearby!) and then headed to Franklin Street (the main drag in Chapel Hill) to meet a friend from DC who is in town!

Hi Kristen! :)

We walked around, chatted, and decided that the only solution for such a hot day was frozen yogurt. Duh.

:)

I’m off to enjoy a rocking Saturday night by myself – Matt left this morning for a week-long work trip. Boo! I figure since I have no plans I should try to get some work done so I can play tomorrow :) However… I have a TV for the first time in 2 years. We just got it hooked up yesterday and I forgot how awesome TV is! This could be dangerous. I am so out of the loop and don’t know what most of the shows are. Also, why are commercials so much louder than the regular shows?!

Hello friends!

After a productive morning, I decided to take the afternoon off to play. The past few months have been SO busy it was nice to just take some time to myself! I threw on workout clothes, grabbed my sunglasses and my DSLR camera, and headed into Chapel Hill, walking all the way through town into Carrboro, the neighboring town, taking pictures and stopping in stores along the way. It was a wonderful way to see my new city and get some exercise and sunshine at the same time!

Enjoy :)

Have a wonderful Friday! I’ll be back tomorrow with a recap of the fun 6 mile run a bunch of my classmates and I have planned. Here’s hoping we find better trails than the one I ran on the other day ;)

I’ve successfully completed my first week of classes in my masters program! No class on Friday? Yes, please.

I had another delicious packed lunch today in celebration:

007

That would be this fun veggie tempeh I picked up the other day!

002

On top of a toasted whole wheat pita, I slathered a laughing cow light swiss cheese:

004

Followed by half of the tempeh, sliced in half so it was more spread out:

005

And then a few squirts of mustard and some pickles, since they make all sandwiches more awesome:

011

The final topping was a huge handful of unpictured spinach! This was super tasty – and surprisingly very filling. Tempeh packs some staying power!

If you like tempeh, what’s your favorite tempeh sandwich? Mine is probably laughing cow, tempeh, sliced tomato, BBQ sauce, and spinach. Delish! And yes, I eat the tempeh raw :)

On the side: a juicy peach!

And my afternoon snack was some trail mix.

Matt and I are off to socialize with some of my classmates – there’s a free outdoor concert and restaurants set up selling food and drinks, sweet!

Speaking of Matt – I must share this hilarious photo of us from our friend’s wedding last weekend!

Heh.

Have a great night!
