Hello, 2020!

running around washington dc national mall

I'm back - hello, 2020! Anyone else think we'd for sure have flying cars by now? ;) We got back late on Friday night from our adventure in Aspen and were happy we had the weekend to get organized before rushing right back to work! We had quite the adventure in Colorado - more on that on Wednesday so stay tuned.  On Sunday morning, I Continue Reading …

In anticipation of the new year, I thought it would be fun to leave you with a round up of my top 10 most popular posts from 2019. By this I don't necessarily mean posts I published in 2019, but rather the posts on my blog that received the most views this year. If you haven’t checked these posts out yet, I hope you will! I’ll start with #10, Continue Reading …

Running into the Holiday Spirit

christmas tree light run around DC

On Wednesday night, something unusual happened: I went for a run! I'm NOT an evening workout person - I can occasionally rally for an evening yoga class, but running in particular is really tough for me to motivate in the evenings, unless there's something extra awesome going on, like: my annual-ish DC Christmas Tree light run with my friend Continue Reading …

How to Have a Stress-Free Holiday Eating Experience

how to not be stressed out at a cookie swap

I share a variation of this post on how to have a stress-free holiday eating experience almost every year. I figure it's worth updating and re-sharing because I know it’s something that’s on some of your minds right now, what with the month of December being a whirlwind of holiday parties, dinners, cookie swaps, etc. So - how do you enjoy the Continue Reading …

Soaking up the Sun

running with pretty views of washington dc

It has been pretty gray/rainy here lately, so getting a perfect running weather day yesterday was such a nice treat! Perfect timing because I already had a run date planned with a few friends!  It had been about a week and a half since I got in a solid run (due to being sick, and then Matt out of town), so I felt a bit sluggish, but Continue Reading …

Solo Week

Hi friends! Checking in with some Friday randomness for you. First up: soup! We've had a lot of soup this week - it has been good weather for it, and I'm still getting over this lingering cold! This one had basically every veggie in our fridge plus some chickpeas and rice... it hit the spot.  Continue Reading …

Honey Miso Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Need some non-boring veggie side dish ideas for your holiday dinner spread (or just your next weeknight meal)? Look no farther than these sweet, savory, and crispy Honey Miso Roasted Brussels Sprouts! Like most people who grew up in the 80's and 90's, I used to think brussels sprouts were gross, because I'd only had them boiled (and mostly Continue Reading …

Festive Weekend

Well, my friends, I don't have a race recap for you guys today because unfortunately I didn't end up doing the race! :( In my 15+ years of running races, I don't believe I've ever actually bailed on a race the day of - but I woke up sick on Sunday morning and as much as I wanted to still run, I knew it wouldn't be smart. I'm still feeling pretty Continue Reading …

Jingle Ready(ish)

dc running sunrise view from lincoln memorial

My friend Sokphal and I are running the Jingle All the Way 15k (that's 9.3 miles) together this coming weekend - eeek! I'm nervous because I haven't run more than 7 miles since... April 2017, I think, when I did the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler while early in pregnancy. I figure I can take it nice and slow and walk a little if I need to... we'll see! Continue Reading …

2 years - whoa!! Today I'm sharing an update on how my favorite little lady and I are doing at the 2 year mark. Read on to learn some of her current favorite things, plus answers to your questions (like: do we want another baby?, are we switching Riese to low/no fat milk?, have we started potty training?, etc.). I shared the following intro Continue Reading …
