Good morning!

I have a giveaway on the docket for you guys today — for one of my favorite pasta brands, Barilla PLUS!

IMG_6222

Matt and I are big fans of pasta for dinner, especially when meat sauce and lots of veggies are involved — it’s one of our standard go to weeknight meals. Barilla PLUS is actually the brand of pasta I usually buy at the store, so when they reached out to me about doing a giveaway, I was fully on board! Their pastas are whole grain and higher in protein and fiber than traditional pasta; they are also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, but they taste just like normal pasta.

IMG_6223

Barilla sent me a gift card and some pasta to create a feast with, and that we did!

IMG_6228

Into the mix went tomato, basil, zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, and some lean ground turkey.

IMG_6230

Matt sautéed the veggies together in some olive oil and garlic, plus pepper.

IMG_6231

Meanwhile, we seared the meat in a separate pan with some cooking spray and garlic; when it was fully cooked, we mixed it in with some tomato sauce, which was heating in another pot.

We threw it all on top of the spaghetti… et voila!

IMG_6234

Delicious. My favorite thing about this “recipe” is that it’s not really a recipe — every time we make it it’s a little different. So much room for creativity!

IMG_6233

And now it’s your turn to create your own fun Barilla PLUS meal!

Barilla is offering a $25 Visa gift card and 2 boxes of pasta to one lucky fANNEtastic food reader. Here’s how to enter to win — each option is an additional entry.

  1. Leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite pasta recipe, or what you would make if you won this giveaway. I’ll go first — my other pasta recipe faves are my Simple Mediterranean Pasta Salad and my Tuna & Veggie Pasta Salad!
  2. Follow me on twitter if you aren’t already, then tweet about this contest (include a link to this post and @fannetasticfood). Leave another comment telling me you tweeted.
  3. If you have a blog, mention and link back to this contest in one of your posts, and then leave another comment letting me know you blogged about it.

Be sure to post a separate comment for each entry option you do.

–

U.S. residents only, please. Good luck! I’ll pick a winner tomorrow (Friday, August 31) morning.

Disclaimer: Barilla is neither a sponsor nor an administrator of this contest, but I received a gift card and pasta in order to create my recipe for this post.

This time of year I love to include winter squash in my pasta dishes- pureed it makes it creamy and when it is roasted it adds so much dimension and flavor. Also- if you add bacon + butternut squash to anything it tastes amazing!

I'd make a pasta dish with goat cheese in spicy tomato sauce, using red pepper flakes. The heat from the pepper and the creaminess of the cheese balance each other so well. I had this dish in a restaurant and was able to nearly replicate it at home, so now it's a favorite!

I absolutely 100% love chicken riggies. They're an upstate NY phenomenon! Creamy sauce with rigatoni, the spicyness of cherry peppers, crisp green and red peppers, and diced chicken. I make them about once a month and look forward to it every time. I try to make them healthier using substitutions and usually use whatever kind of past a I have on hand. Soooooooo good!

I would make my grandmother's Italian spaghetti recipe using the Barilla Plus Pasta for the delicious sauce that takes all day to cook. My mother was Italian and she tweaked the recipe. I have used both my mom's and my grandmom's recipe and "sorry" mommy, I like Nana's best.I'm 62 years old so you can imagine how old the recipe is. haha
