Kayaking the Morning Away

Well, if the weather here in NC insists that it’s still summer… then I will act like it’s still summer.

011

This morning, we threw on our swimsuits and went kayaking! 🙂

008

014

My friend Lauren got a Groupon ages ago for Paddle Creek, and today was the perfect hot, sunny day to use it.

013

On the adventure was Matt, me, and my friends Stephanie and Lauren from my grad program. Fun! I love this picture of the two of them 🙂

005

We had a great time gliding along (and sometimes ramming into each other).

023 017

It was so peaceful out there!

016

Plus, look who we found, out sunning himself as well! 🙂 So cute!

019

It was a wonderful way to spend a hot “it’s-really-fall-but-feels-like-summer” morning 🙂

010

I’m off to relax for a little bit and then head out to meet up with a couple of my fellow classmates to get some work done!

…

p.s. In other outdoorsy news, my friend Evelyn’s company is helping to launch a fun new family-geared event called “Hike and Seek” that I thought some of you guys might be interested in!

There’s one on October 2nd in both DC and Chicago, and another on October 16th in Seattle. Hike and Seek is a National Wildlife Federation fundraising event and is a cross between a nature hike and a scavenger hunt! Sounds cool, right?

Plants Stop & Study

Lake 2

The event is aiming to inspire families and friends to spend more time together outdoors, engaging in an active lifestyle. Hikes are 1.5 to 2 miles depending on the city, and all ages and fitness levels are welcome.

The DC hike will be in Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, MD. Evelyn went hiking there the other day to check it out and sent me these beautiful photos!

I hope some of you (especially those with kids) will consider participating!

Check out their website for more information: Hike and Seek.

…

Have a wonderful Saturday, friends — is summer still holding strong where you are, too?

All the American bloggers I read are having a seemingly never-ending-summer, and I'm jealous! Thanks for embracing it with some kayaking so I could live vicariously through you...

Looks like an awesome place to go kayaking - I might have to check it out! Seeing as I'm just down the road from you (in Durham) I can definitely relate to summer being in full force. I am so excited for fall to come!! But, I'm sure as soon as winter arrives I'll be back to wishing for summer :-) The Hike and Seek website looks AWESOME - if I had kids and still lived in DC I would totally want to sign up! I hope it expands to more cities in the future :)

It was 90 degrees here in PA on Friday... Today it seems like it's more fall-like. What a fun trip! I love kayaking (or Rowboating, or Paddleboating.) Super cute turtle!

Sounds like a great Saturday with the outdoors, great company, and lots of laughs! Yesterday in my area it was up in the 90s, but then it was in the 50s at night so it wasn't too bad at the end of the day. Hope you had a lovely Sunday!
