Hey friends! I didn’t take many photos this week (we ate our usual faves + did our normal at-home virtual workouts), so instead of sharing my thousandth microwave banana oatmeal photo or solo run selfie photo I thought it would be fun to mix it up and do a little survey of favorite/most popular posts instead.

Read on to learn more about the blog posts on my site that receive the most traffic, the post I wrote that was most controversial, and more!

Feel free to play along in the comments with your all-time favorite/most useful posts, too, if you’d like!

Most Popular/Favorite Posts Survey

1. My Most Viewed Post so far in 2020:

My Healthy Stir Fry Recipes post (one of those meals is pictured above)!

That post seems to be a big hit for quick and easy dinner ideas. It’s one of my “mix + match” style posts, which are recipe posts that involve a few key components that you can switch around based on what you have on hand.

In the case of stir fry, you can mix & match vegetables, proteins, and sauces to your heart’s content, and that post has a bunch of different combination options for you to try – check it out!

A close second for most viewed post so far in 2020 is my Banana Spinach Smoothie. That recipe is originally from back in 2009 or 2010 – it’s one of the older posts on my blog – but it remains popular because it’s so simple!

It’s a super basic green smoothie recipe that you can use as a base and then add in extras to your heart’s content. Give it a shot and let me know what additions you like!

Neither of these posts are from 2020 but they continue to get a lot of views/love from Pinterest (follow me over there if you’re into it!) + Google!

The next questions aren’t related to 2020 blog posts, but rather just posts I’ve published over time on the blog.

2. My Most Controversial Post:

Probably “Why I Don’t Recommend Whole30” – lots of interesting comments on that post!

Check it out to learn more. 😉

3. My Most Helpful Post:

Hmmm… I’m thinking What Causes Sugar Cravings or 7 Common Nutrition Myths? I know the nutrition-focused posts are always helpful, especially because there’s so much conflicting nutrition advice on the internet. Another old favorite is my Best Cooking Oils for High Heat, Baking, and Salad Dressing post.

Or on the non-nutrition front, my Favorite Natural and Organic Personal Care Products for Babies + Toddlers… or At-Home Activities for Toddlers?

What do you guys think – any other posts of mine you’ve found especially interesting/helpful over the years?

4. A Post That Surprised Me By Its Popularity:

Quinoa Taco Salad!

This recipe has been crazy popular on Pinterest for years now and it’s so random because it’s such a simple, easy recipe – maybe that’s why it’s so popular?!

It only has 6 ingredients and you don’t have to measure anything. It’s super flexible and a great light dinner or healthy portable lunch.

5. The Post I’m Most Proud Of:

Why You Should Throw Away Your Scale.

Here’s an excerpt:

For many of my clients and people in general, I find that the scale has become a sort of evaluator of self worth.

Each morning, they step on the scale and let it tell them how their day should go.

If the number is low or where they want it to be, they feel happy. In control. Like the day will be a good one.

But when the number is higher than they’d like (which, it’s worth mentioning, isn’t even accurate/indicative of true gain or loss – weight fluctuates all the time for a lot of reasons!), suddenly that number becomes something else entirely.

It now represents their failure. They are out of control. Worthless. Not in charge of their own lives. They now feel uncomfortable in their own skin, even if a few minutes earlier they were feeling strong and confident. Negative self talk ramps up.

A good day is now a bad one, and that sentiment carries them through the day.

6. A Post I Thought Would Be Super Popular But Wasn’t (Yet, Anyway):

I thought there would be more interest/conversation around my Intuitive Eating for Runners blog post from last week!

Maybe it will be one that gets more interest via Pinterest/Google later on – we will see. 🙂

I will leave you with some posts of interest from around the web. Have a great weekend!

  • Grilled Scallops with Sweet Corn and Tomato Salad – this looks like a delicious summer meal and I love scallops! You guys know we love grilling (our two faves right now: Honey Lime Chicken with Grilled Peach and Corn Salad + Grilled Steak and Strawberry Salad with Strawberry Vinaigrette)… can’t wait to make this soon.
  • You guys know I love my grain salad bowls, and this Buddha Bowl is next on my list to try… the peanut sauce looks so good!
  • Here’s a Barre Arms + Core Workout you can do anywhere (all you need is some light weights, or cans of soup/beans)!

I was surprised that your intuitive eating for runners post wasn’t more popular too! But then I realized that I don’t think I have fully read it yet, either ?‍♀️. I did go and listen to you talk about it on that podcast you were a guest on. It was really informative!

Yeah I was thinking maybe it's one of those posts people save for later and read more in depth when they have time! I'm glad you enjoyed the podcast version, though! :)

I've referred to the cooking oil post more than once! Really helpful when confronted with the endless choices at the grocery store.

I like scanning your recipes for new meal ideas. There's one that was just a paragraph about mixing curry paste with coconut milk and olive oil for a sauce on chicken that I make when I want to impress people. You suggested using the remainder of the can of coconut milk to cook the rice and I have steamed broccoli with it. SO GOOD and the house smells great--guaranteed compliments! I also like to see what you combine in your sandwiches and tacos. You have a knack for making them healthy, tasty, and a little different than just the same ole thing. Another favorite was your recommended book list. I think I read every book you listed and enjoyed them all. Of course I enjoy reading about your sweet family and your fun adventures!

I remember just about all of these, especially the quinoa taco salad one and the one about throwing out the scale! All good fund, thanks! But, life won't be the same without periodic microwave banana oatmeal or whatever!

Before I opened this post, I had a feeling your Whole 30 post would be the most controversial. ;) I did W30 once and I am definitely one and done. I did it more so as an experiment to find out what other foods I might have a sensitivity too. I already know I am gluten intolerant but W30 also showed me that dairy is no bueno for me either. But I still have dairy in limited quantities because I feel like I can't get the calcium I need otherwise. The posts liked the most are your pregnancy ones! I was about 3 months behind you so it was nice to read and see what I had to 'look forward to'. Ha. I also like the posts about Riese's development for the same reason. It's a sneak peak into how Paul might change/grow. Although kids are all so different and do things at different speeds so it's not really a road map - moreso a 'he could be into this in 3 months'.

I think W30 can definitely be useful as an elimination diet of sorts for sure! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my pregnancy posts - I always enjoyed reading posts from other bloggers who were a little ahead of me, too - or going back and re-reading their posts later on!
