Good morning!

I’m back in D.C. and about to head off to work. Sigh. Back to the real world! My flight last night was delayed two hours and we JUST made it in under the 10:30 p.m. landing “curfew” that the DC airport has. Whew!

So, I have to tell you about my fun night on Wednesday 🙂 If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you’ll remember our family friends in Tampa, Jill and Natalie.

051

They are twins, super fun, and total foodies. Jill and her husband had my family over for both Thanksgiving (picture above) and Christmas dinner (check out those posts for some MAJOR food porn!), and both meals were up there among the most amazing I’ve ever had!

Jill and Natalie took me and my mom out for a girls night out in Tampa on Wednesday 🙂 We had such a blast! They are hilarious. I want a twin!!

013

We started with cocktails at Ocean Prime at the girl’s insistence! They had such a cool, unique cocktail menu, and everything is made fresh right in front of you! We got a bunch of cocktails to share between the four of us and they were AWESOME. Especially the Cucumber Gimlet drink, which was my favorite. Not too sweet and very smooth.

Apparently they use dry ice in some of their drinks (bottom left picture) so the drink stays cold but doesn’t get watered down. It was bubbling and had smoke coming off of it!! SO cool 🙂

After drinks, we headed for the main event: dinner at Council Oak in the Tampa Hard Rock Casino! It was amazing.

We started with the crab cakes, which were divine. I LOVE crab cakes:

007

And then we got a MASSIVE seafood platter to share between all of us. It was the most amazing thing ever, especially the crab!

010

For our entrees we all got steak and shared some asparagus and sautéed mushrooms. YUM! I hardly ever have steak but every once in awhile it’s amazing. I was only able to eat a few bites by that point so the rest made an appearance in my packed dinner sandwich at the airport last night 😉 Sadly I didn’t get a good picture of it 🙁

The most amazing part of dinner? Dessert. HOLY CRAP!!!

015

Yes, our dessert was set on fire!! OMG. We shared an order of their specialty — the Council Oak 151 Volcano! It’s vanilla ice cream, covered with heath bar crunch and doused with a shot of 151! It’s then set on fire at the table to burn off the alcohol, melt the chocolate, and bring out the flavors. It was probably one of the most amazing desserts of my life. Gah!!

Needless to say, it was an awesome night 🙂 Thanks again for treating us to such a fun time, girls!

I’m off to work! Happy Friday!

GOD that dessert looks out of control! Well, it's on fire so it doesn't get much more out of control than that! It sounds awesome!
