I’m back in the game — the running game, that is! Today was my first real run since the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler last weekend. I did a short run/walk in my hilly neighborhood on Friday morning before work, but otherwise the rest of the week was spent cross/strength training, yoga-ing, and relaxing
Speaking of the race, they sent out the race pictures! Sadly there weren’t any of me finishing Guess I was just running way too fast
Here my friend Ashley and I are getting ready to start with a bazillion other people:
Hahah it looks like we are holding hands in that picture!
And here’s two from during the race!
Good times… gotta love awkward race pics
Anyway! It felt good to get back out there today, minus the weather. Apparently it’s winter again!?
Ashley and I did 6 miles in 52:02, for an average pace of 8:40 min/mile.
- Mile 1: 8:32
- Mile 2: 8:27
- Mile 3: 8:47
- Mile 4: 8:36
- Mile 5: 8:53 (Legs were tiiiiired today)
- Mile 6: 8:42
Yay! Running with someone else is so much better than running alone — my legs started feeling reeeeally tired and heavy near the end of the run, but then we got into a really interesting conversation about religion and I completely forgot how tired my legs were Do you train with a friend or by yourself? I seriously don’t think I could have done some of these long runs without Ashley! We stick together the whole time during races, too
I was planning on trying out my new CamelBak today (my running water bottle was stolen from the trail a few weeks ago), but I decided to wait until it’s hot and sunny again so I can fully appreciate it Also, I was a little confused about where the water tube is supposed to go when I’m running. Do I secure it on the strap and just leave part of it out by my mouth?! I’m so clueless, lol. Help!
But I DID try out a new sports bra I was sent to review by the lovely people at Handful, Inc.!
How cute is the back?? I LOVE the criss-cross straps. I’ve always wanted a sports bra that had those!
Handful sports bras aim to “flatter, not flatten!” From their website:
The Handful bra has removable pads that contour and conceal, and center stitching to prevent gapping. The polyester lining wicks moisture away, while the nylon/spandex (92%/8%) shell dries quickly and allows for smooth layering. Feminine thin straps won’t stretch out. The Handful is packaged in a reusable mesh bag for less waste and convenient laundering. Machine washable.
Cute AND functional — sounds good to me! The sports bra felt great for the whole run — very supportive and didn’t move around or chafe at all! I love that it has a more contoured shape and the removable pads — avoiding the uniboob look is a good thing!
If you’re in the market for a new sports bra, I’d highly recommend checking these out. They come in black, white, cocoa (dark brown — what I got), nude, and pink! Thanks to the folks at Handful for letting me try it
I’m off to a BBQ and then to “afternoon tea” at a hotel in D.C. for a friend’s birthday! How fun Enjoy your day everyone!
