Hello, hello!

I had a wonderful Friday showing Tina around Chapel Hill today 🙂 Here we are on campus with the famous UNC well!

The weather was GORGEOUS here today — nearly 80 and super sunny! I took Tina straight from the airport to a fun outdoor lunch at one of my local faves — Sandwhich.

010

We had a blast hanging, catching up, and enjoying the weather 🙂

006

I had the “Mr. Crunch” sandwich, which was thinly-sliced prosciutto, lettuce, fresh mozzarella, mint & lemon oil on a baguette. SO good!

009

The lemony peppery oil was the best 🙂

And we enjoyed a plethora of liquids. Mint tea and water for both of us; a beer for Tina and a glass of wine for me!

007

What?! We’re on vacation 😉 Disregard the fact that I live here, heh.

After our leisurely lunch we headed out to explore Chapel Hill and the UNC campus by foot! We walked around for a couple hours enjoying the sights — the flowers were all in bloom and I was happy to see campus was looking it’s best for me to show it off 🙂

So pretty! I love it here.

Next on the tour of my local favorites — a power yoga class at my favorite studio, Franklin Street Yoga!

Amazing class tonight. It felt good to get some sweating and stretching in!

Last on today’s tour of the south? BBQ, of course 😉

022

Matt, Tina, my grad school friend Lauren, and I all hit up Allen & Son Barbeque for dinner — it’s the best! A random house in the middle of nowhere… super southern and authentically delicious. I love that they don’t even have a website!

I enjoyed the BBQ sandwich with a side of baked beans. SO good.

026

BBQ here is a lot different here — instead of thick, tomato-y BBQ sauce like I’m used to, NC BBQ sauce is more thin and vinegary. It’s also really good, just different!

027

We also all shared some hush puppies 🙂

023

Time to relax! We’re pooped after our busy and active day. We’re off in the morning to our insane 5k obstacle course adventure race over in Greensboro — stay tuned for an epic recap 🙂

G’night!

Ahhh this seriously makes me miss Chapel Hill SO MUCH! I live ten minutes (if that) from the Old Well! Cannot wait to be back in June. Do you ever eat at Med Deli? It's one of my favorites... their hummus is divine and they make their pita fresh every day!

I'll have to try that bbq place, I loooove Carolina bbq! There's a SUPER cute old fashioned ice cream shop in down town Pittsboro, if you ever go a little farther south on 15-501. Its called S & T Soda Shoppe. They have amaaaazing shakes and sundaes!

i know it sounds silly, but the Allen and Sons on 15501 south headed towards Pittsboro is even better than the one north of town on the way to Hillsborough. I highly recommend a taste test!
