A Wedding at the Carolina Inn

Hello, hello! How were your weekends? For those of you that were in DC for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler and related festivities, how was it?! I can’t wait for the blossoms to fully bloom!

As I mentioned, Matt and I were down in Chapel Hill, NC this past weekend for the wedding of one of my best friends from grad school at UNC.

It was so great seeing my grad school girls again! On Saturday morning, we did what has now become tradition: a morning of the wedding run with the bride! (Here’s the recap from my own morning of the wedding run: Why Running the Morning of my Wedding was an Awesome Idea)

IMG_1588

We did a 30 minute run around UNC’s campus and it was so fun to get some time with the bride before the big day. Loved being back in our old stomping grounds, too!

Here is an awkward selfie from in front of our school of public health building! 🙂

After our run and a quick change and snack, Elle and I walked over to Franklin Street Yoga to meet our friend Libby for one of our favorite classes: the 9:15 vinyasa flow taught by Lori, the studio owner and our favorite instructor. I always make a point to visit my old fave yoga studio when I’m in the area. 🙂

It was a great class, as always, and from there it was on to brunch,, where we met up with the rest of the girls, minus the bride and Jill who was in the wedding, and plus our other grad school friend Maria, who wasn’t attending the wedding but lives in the area.

Obviously we hit up Jessee’s in Carrboro, home of the greatest brunch ever: the open-faced biscuit sandwich. Mmmmm. I miss this so much!

As for the rest of Saturday, the excitement was the wedding itself! We were staying at the Carolina Inn all weekend, which was where the wedding and reception were. Such a beautiful hotel and great location, too, right on UNC’s campus and walking distance to Franklin Street restaurants and bars.

The weather couldn’t have been more amazing for a wedding! The ceremony was outside and it was perfect.

The reception was an absolute blast – sweet speeches, a great band, and lots of dancing. I had so much fun I didn’t take any pictures! 🙂

Congratulations, Lauren and Dave! Wish we’d snagged a photo with you two!

On Sunday morning, with my other friend Lauren (not the bride, obvi) and I headed out for a run! The two of us have done a run the morning after everyone’s weddings and it’s become a favorite tradition of ours. 🙂 Great way to sweat out the night before and catch up, too. <3

We took it nice and easy and ran for about 30 minutes, stopping for photos at some of our favorite spots.

We aren’t sure when we’ll be back in Chapel Hill, so this was a nice farewell. 🙂

One of my favorite stops was a visit to the baby blue track! I had many an early morning workout here during my time in grad school at UNC.

Our run concluded with a drink from the Old Well for good luck. 🙂

Last but not least, Matt and I grabbed brunch with our friends Sarah, Matt, Tim, and Lindsey on our way out of town. Didn’t want to miss the opportunity to see them (and their adorable offspring) while we were in Chapel Hill! We hit up Crook’s Corner, where I had the shrimp and grits because it seemed appropriate. Delish and great to catch up with our friends, too. Wish we’d gotten a group shot!

Such a fun weekend with great friends. I miss them all already!

How was your weekend?

Looks like an amazing time! And you didn't miss the cherry blossoms, either :) Peak bloom is supposed to be this week. I went to DC with an old college friend to hang out and eat seafood at Maine Ave Fish Market. Fun times!

Cherry Blossom 10 Miler was great, but it's hard to beat runs by the Old Well, Bell Tower and staying at The Carolina Inn :)

Anne - could you by chance find out where the bride rented the gray suits from? I am getting married in November and would like dark slate suits but am already having a hard time finding anywhere locally to rent them from! would love to hear where this bride rented theirs from

Small world - one of my best friends got married at the Carolina Inn in the summer of 2012! I'd never been to that area (or even remotely close to it) but it was the perfect spot for a wedding.
