Good morning from the Boston airport! I’m headed back to D.C. after a fabulous long weekend here in Boston. Last night, Tina and I met up with our morning running buddies, Ali and Elizabeth, again for a fun blogger dinner!

We went to Alma Nove on the shipyard in Hingham, MA. The restaurant is owned by Paul Wahlberg — recognize that last name? Yep, he’s Mark’s brother! We were hoping for some celeb sightings… no dice 😉 Oh, Mark. Why must you and your hotness evade me?

003

For dinner, I enjoyed a glass of chardonnay, obvi:

007

Though I totally should have gotten this awesome champagne that Elizabeth ordered — I’m a sucker for pretty drinks 🙂

008

Ali and I shared the goat cheese and beet salad to start — it was yummy, but I wish it there had been some sort of lettuce with it, too! I mean, I love beets, but this was a LOT of beets. I’m glad we shared 😉

010

Ali and I also both ordered the swordfish for dinner! I don’t usually order swordfish since I hear it’s higher in mercury than other fish, but it came with lobster mashed potatoes. Yes, lobster mashed potatoes. Would you have passed those up? I think not.

012

It was just as delicious as it looks and Ali and I were “mmm”-ing away the whole meal.

011

The only problem was that it was a MASSIVE amount of food. Both of us only ate about half — totally should have shared. Oh, well 🙂

Our hot dinner dates:

Me and Tina:

SO much fun. We were at dinner for 3 hours and it seemed like 30 minutes! We were basically cracking up the entire time. This was the first time I met Elizabeth (she’s hilarious), and it was wonderful to see Ali again, too! Ali’s been my roommate for a bunch of the blogger conferences in the past and I missed her and her hilarious Boston accent and stories 🙂

After dinner, we took a romantic stroll out by the docks. We also checked out the restaurants awesome fire pit — how cool is this?!

Thanks for a great night, ladies 🙂 See you in a couple weeks at the Healthy Living Summit!

This morning before heading to the airport, Tina and I fit in another great run! Disregard the awkward tired photo… it was early 😉

020

We ran 4 miles around Tina’s neighborhood — we were both feeling tired but kept a good pace the whole time. I’m so not excited to go back to hot weather again. It was only like 70 and cloudy in Boston this morning! Perfect for running, minus the fact that it was pretty humid.

021

Splits:

  • Mile 1: 9:01
  • Mile 2: 9:12
  • Mile 3: 9:06
  • Mile 4: 8:53

We ran the 4 miles in 36:14 for an average pace of 9:02. Good times! Upon arrival back at Tina and Mal’s, I rolled out my legs with Tina’s Tiger Tail while Murphy graciously cleaned off my legs for me with his tongue. Hehe.

023

I should stop posting such un-cute photos of myself

Murphy is apparently OBSESSED with sweaty salt — he was racing back and forth between me and Tina’s legs, lol!

Post-shower, we had a lovely pancake breakfast waiting courtesy of Tina’s husband Mal. Now that’s service!

027

I enjoyed my pancakes topped with Chobani peach yogurt.

028

Yum! I love yogurt + doughy or bready things. Such a delicious combo.

029

Time to board the plane — catch you guys later from back in D.C.!

The lobster mashed potatoes look amazing!! As does the beet salad. We need to have a blogger meet up in DC. I think that would be a ton of fun!

I did not know there was another Walhberg besides Mark and Donnie! Donnie was my favorite NKOTB. Everyone else was obsessed with Joey in all his teeny bopper gloriousness but I wanted Donnie, he was kinda hard core ;)

Safe travels! I'm sort of a little jealous you were on my New England turf while I'm here in Asheville :) I love swordfish & I don't eat it often either, unless it's on sale at the grocery store.

I used to live in Hingham (far from my northern California roots) and I loved going to Stars, another restaurant near the harbor. It was fun seeing photos of a familiar place! Thanks!!!

I love Chobani yogurt! Looks like you had fun in Boston -- so funny about the dog licking your leg. I was visiting my nephew and his wife in Asheville (before I went to Chapel Hill to see Hilary and Brent) and their little dog kept licking my arms -- I think because of the humidity, the dog liked the salty moisture on my arms. Ugh. Cute. Whatever. Ha.

Your blog makes it look like you have so much free time during your internship. I felt like I crawled into a whole and didn't come up till 10 months later and it was time to take my RD exam. What's your secret??

Ummm the secret is that I'm on vacation right now, not doing my internship! Remember when I did a million posts about it being my last week, then my last day, then my last hour, etc. etc. of my internship and summer class? We start class up again in 2 weeks.

I do remember reading that. I only got a 4 day break in between my rotations. That may be the secret-choosing the right program with a nice break!

Isn't Alma the name of Mrs. Wahlberg (Mark's mother)? For some reason I remember that from my NKOTB fandom days.
