Dinner by Boat

Hello again from vacation at Smith Mountain Lake with our friends Tim and Lindsey!

Last night was so much fun. We went to dinner via boat!

084

One of Tim and Lindsey’s favorite local restaurants is called The Landing and they suggested we go there last night for dinner. The most fun thing about it? You get there by water!

073

The weather could not have been more perfect — perfect temperature, gorgeous sunshine. Such a nice night for a boat ride!

074

Lindsey was our fearless captain:

071

While Tim enjoyed the ride 🙂

066

And so did we!

I love boats 🙂

079

10 minutes later, we arrived at the restaurant! Straight ahead in the photo below are the “parking spots” 🙂

080

Pulling in!

081

Parking success! Here I am with the beautiful Lindsey 🙂

082

We decided to wait at the bar for a table outside — the weather was too amazing to pass up. And so was this view:

083

While we waited, we ordered some appetizers and drinks. First up: a delicious tuna tartare with a spicy sauce and grilled corn and avocado. So good!

085

Plus some conch and lobster fritters. Major yum!

087

We enjoyed the rest of our dinner outside (at a 4 person table, obviously, not the one below… heh):

089

I had an unpictured beet and goat cheese salad (I can’t resist ordering this when I see it!) and for my entree, the lamb:

091

Delicious! Matt, Tim, and Lindsey all had the steak, which was also delicious. Of course I had a bite 🙂

090

After dinner, we headed back on the boat in the dark! It was really peaceful to be out on the water at night — and the moon was really cool looking, too — HUGE, low, and orange.

What a wonderful evening. We had another fun filled day of water sports today at the lake and are getting ready to make dinner here at the house tonight — I’ll be back tomorrow with another recap! Matt and I are heading home around mid-morning tomorrow, we think. Back to Chapel Hill after many weeks away!

I was just handed a glass of wine so I think that’s my cue to say good night! Have a good one 🙂

p.s. Check out the interview with me on the YMCA Summer Food Program website today! (Scroll down — it’s on the left!)

For some reason that restaurant reminds me of a prettier version of the restaurant/bait shop on Grumpier Old Men. lol. I love that movie so much! I also really like how they bundled the asparagus with onion rings! What a creative idea! Hope you enjoy your last night on the water!

Sounds nice! My parents have a restaurant like that in Jersey they like to go to by boat, but I never want to go due to the seasickness. Blech. Easy way to ruin a good meal...
