Look what I found!!

047

SO COOL seeing it in person!

It was another gorgeous day yesterday here in southern California, and my cousin Willow and I headed into the Hollywood Hills to do some hiking!

067

The hike we did was wonderful. It was 5 miles round trip and took us about three hours due to multiple photo and packed sandwich/snack interludes 😉

004

Not only were there awesome views of the Hollywood sign, but there were also gorgeous views of downtown L.A.!

038

Did you know that the Hollywood sign originally read “HOLLYWOODLAND” and was erected to advertise a housing development?

Some more fun facts:

The Hollywood Sign was originally erected in 1923 and then rebuilt in 1979, each letter is 50-feet high and 30-feet wide and the full sign spans 450-feet across the 1,675-foot summit of Mount Lee, overlooking the entire LA basin. (source)

I can’t believe how BIG it is!

It was pretty heavy, too 😉

049

Heh.

We had such a blast. It was so nice to get some exercise while enjoying the beautiful weather and fresh air! I love hiking 🙂028012

044

After our hiking adventure, Willow and I went to meet my friend Christie from college at… you guessed it… CRACKPINKBERRY!!! So obsessed!

072

And then I destroyed this deliciousness at dinner:

074

Beautifully displayed chicken, veggies, and fried rice. YUM! I was HUNGRY after all our working out!

Willow and I have been joking that this is like Anne’s Vacation Boot Camp or something 😉 We’ve gone biking on the beach in Santa Monica and Venice, running & then walking all over Hollywood and Malibu, and now hiking 5 miles through the Hollywood Hills! I just love being active, what can I say 😉

030

Today’s boot camp continues with kayaking and more biking at Ventura Beach!! It’s my last day in California… I leave tomorrow morning to head back to D.C., which apparently should currently be renamed Antarctica. Boo!!!

I’m off to enjoy my last day of warmth and sunshine for quite awhile! Have a good one, friends!  073

What’s your favorite outdoor exercise activity? I pretty much love them all 🙂

The pictures are breath-taking. My favorite outdoor activity is walking/hiking the trails and wooded paths that run thru our farmland.

I love hiking too :) Have you hiked any of the trails out in the Shenandoah's in VA? There are a ton of good trails (but much better suited for summer/spring). Don't worry it's supposed to be less than an inch of snow. Good luck with your flight tomorrow!!
Yes I LOVE the Shenandoahs :) Especially Old Rag and White Oak Canyon Trail! -Anne
