Our Greatest Adventure Yet

I have some very big news to share with you guys today…

IMG_1333

My brother said that picture looked more like a baked potato than a bun (get it? a bun in the oven?!) so, just to make sure this is clear…

I’m pregnant!

Matt and I are thrilled to announce that we are expecting our first non-fur child in late November. :)

I’ll share more details on how I’ve been feeling, etc., tomorrow (any specific questions, let me know!), but for now, I just want to thank you guys so much for reading – we can’t wait to share this next chapter with you!

    Stephanie C. says:

    That’s so exciting! Congratulations!

  5. 5

Haha! I thought that was a potato too! If we are going to go emoji style…put a peach in there. ;) SO happy for the both of you! Wahoo! The Baby Mauney is going to be so surrounded with love!

  6. 7

Congratulations Anne!!! SO happy for you and Matt! I’ve been reading your blog for years and so excited and thrilled to hear this news! Congrats again!!

  7. 8
    Charlsie N says:

Do have to agree with your brother! Congrats!!!

  8. 9

Congratulations!! I also thought it was a potato (and maybe it was a dietitian joke?). Either way, great news! Hoping you’ll feel comfortable sharing updates of your pregnancy, because I’m sure we’d all love to hear!

  9. 11

    Great news!

    Carly McLeod says:

YAY! Congratulations! Excited to follow your journey :)

  11. 13

I’ve been reading your blog for years and I’m not usually a commenter, but I just had a feeling you might be! Congratulations! I was pregnant with our first son when we rescued our littlest pup and a cat claimed us as ours during my last pregnancy. Those animals – they can smell out a Momma!

    • 14

Apparently so! Glad to hear I’m not the only one who adopted a puppy while pregnant… everyone thinks we are insane! :) Thank you!

      • 15

Babies and new puppies can be wonderful together! We got our puppy when I was pregnant with my first child and people thought we were crazy too. It actually worked out really well and 12 years later they still adore each other. Congratulations!

        • 16

That makes me feel much better about this whole situation!! We definitely like the idea of our child growing up with dogs… I think it will be fun and also teach some responsibility/that it’s not just all about them!

  12. 17

Congratulations!!! I was wondering the other day if you and Matt wanted children or not. Is it weird I wondered that? :) So exciting!

    • 18

Haha no, that makes sense given we’ve been married for awhile now! We always knew we wanted kids but just needed some time to get there :) Thank you!!

  13. 19

CONGRATS Anne! So happy for you both :)

  14. 20

    Congratulations! So happy for you.

  15. 21

Congratulations! You and Matt will be awesome parents! 🎉🎉❤️ I thought that was the announcement from the title, but was confused by the “potato” picture at first, lol. I’m like, “is she opening a bakery?” Ignore me, I’m cutting down on caffeine AND trying to work out more. 🙄🙄🙄

    • 22

Lol! Matt used this picture (without a caption) to tell his friends – and most got it but one was like, um, did you get a new oven or something? Haha!

  16. 23

A huge congrats. Such an exciting time for tiger family. I’ve been a reader for years and wondered too if you wanted children. You will make a great mom! Congrats!

  17. 26

I had my daughter in November. It’s a great month. I’m excited for you both!

  18. 27

Congratulations!! I don’t know why but I’ve been thinking you were pregnant, I’m due in October so maybe I have some sort of super pregnancy sensing powers right now, haha! Very exciting! Hope you’re feeling well!

  19. 29

What happy news! Congratulations to both of you!

  20. 30

This is wonderful news! Through reading your blog so long I feel like I know you and Matt well enough to say that you will make WONDERFUL parents!! You’re starting an amazing journey, enjoy the ride! <3

    Molly S says:

Congrats! I have been oddly curious if this was the case lately but can’t say what made me think this. Maybe the glow..? ;)

  22. 36
    Shannon Kiely says:

    Congratulations!
I noticed you hadn’t been sharing full body shots as much lately and slower in running so I had a hunch this was coming.
Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy.

  23. 38

Long time reader and VERY excited for you and Matt!! I can’t wait to read more on this adventure!!! ❤️

    Samantha says:

This was my thought process: oh, they fixed their oven! wait, it was the microwave that was broken..im so confused….(actually reads the post…) omg yay!!! haha! Congrats!!! :) Y’all will be great!

  25. 41
    Stephanie says:

Congratulations! I’ve been reading for a while and thought you might be! Enjoy your pregnancy, I’m at the tail end of my second and believe it or not you will miss this time when it’s over :)

  26. 42

    Congrats! That’s so exciting!

  27. 43
    Danielle says:

Congrats Anne! I was due November 22 last year so went through everything you’re experiencing right now. I live in Montgomery County, MD so let me know if you’d like me to connect you to some D.C. area baby things! :-)

    • 44

Thank you Danielle! I’d love any local tips/recs you have to share! :)

      • 45
        Danielle says:

-Joining a PACE group (http://www.pacemoms.org/) was one of the best decisions I made! I talk to the moms from my group every day and they’ve been such an amazing support network.
-The local library is great for baby storytimes, I took mine at around 6 weeks and it was a nice way to meet some other local mamas. Not sure how much my little one got out of it but I figure early exposure to books can’t be bad ;)
-Having winter babies in this area can be a bit hard given the weather, but the Air & Space Museum in Dulles is great for taking tiny babies that end up sleeping most of the time :)

Happy to send you more stuff as she gets a bit older :) Again congrats!!!

  28. 47

    Congratulations!!

  29. 48

YAY!! This news made me so happy. I can’t wait to read about your adventure :)

  30. 49

Congratulations-very happy for you and Matt and looking forward to following along on this new journey of yours. All my best!

  31. 50

Wowee! I KNEW it :) You’ve definitely been not drinking for a while… but your exercise regimen is still FIERCE! I’d love to hear how you’ve managed to stay so active thus far in your pregnancy. I kept being like, no way she’s pregnant working out like that!! You’re a machine! ….and getting a puppy and going to Iceland?! Whew! You sure don’t miss a beat! Congratulations. Children are the GREATEST blessing. I can’t wait to hear about your journey–if you’re willing to open up and share about it :)

  32. 52

So happy for you and Matt. I do agree with your brother, took me a moment to realize it wasn’t a potato lol. You will make wonderful parents and who cares what people say about adopting a dog while pregnant. It will be cute they get to take walks and grow up together. Everyone always has an opinion about everything – the most important one is yours and Matt’s.

  33. 54

Congratulations! Make sure to stay cool in this crazy Northeast heat we are having this week! I’m in Philly and Thursday is supposed to be 93. I had an October baby so I spent most of my summer by the pool :)

    • 55

Definitely not going to be running much longer as things heat up, that’s for sure! The pool sounds pretty fabulous. :)

  34. 56

    Congratulations!!!!!!!!

  35. 57

    YAY congrats!!!!

  36. 58

Congratulations, Anne! And a belated happy Mother’s Day. :)

  37. 60
    Jill Bauer says:

Anne! Congratulations to you and Matt! I just told Katie, and we are both so excited for you. I’m also excited for your mom – being a grandparent is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me (along with being a mom and going to Australia :). Hope you’re feeling ok – looking forward to reading your updates. xo Jill

  38. 62
    Briana Lucas says:

Congrats! Long time reader here, and not a super frequest commenter, but I have to say, I knew it was coming. I don’t know why, but I just did. I knew when Julie over at PB fingers was too. So happy for you guys, and can’t wait to hear all about your pregnancy adventures!

  39. 64

    Congratulations!!

  40. 65

    Congratulations!! How exciting!

  41. 66

Congratulations! What an exciting time. I’m impressed with all the workouts. With both my pregnancies I was exhausted and constantly nauseas that I couldn’t work out much in the first trimester. Plus after the first trimester I got round ligament pain with both and the support band didn’t help so I could only walk. It’s only temporary.

    • 67

We’ll see how things go as it gets hotter and I get larger, but for now the workouts have really helped with feeling better nausea wise, and mentally too! I’ll talk more about it tomorrow :)

  42. 68
    Elizabeth Beil says:

    Congratulations! So happy for you!!

  43. 69

Yay!! I don’t know why, but I had a FEELING it would be soon for you guys. No specific questions other than if you can provide any insight for how you guys decided that now was the time (if you did, that is!). I have wrestled with this SO MUCH and at 32, I feel the pressure more than ever…. I love reading your blog because I have felt that someone around my age had still not taken the plunge yet either. Not that I’ll stop reading! But this makes 3 of my favorite bloggers now that have recently been (to be) new mothers. You, Immaeatthat and PBFingers. Congrats!

    • 70

I don’t think you are ever really 100% ready, but I guess we just felt like we were in a pretty good place for it – I’d had time to get my business going, we’d done a ton of cool trips recently, etc. It was more that we were feeling less NOT ready. If that makes any sense. :) Scary but exciting!

      • 71

Huge congrats Anne! You are going to be an amazing mother and I can’t wait to read through your pregnancy. If it makes you feel any better, Amber, I’m 35 and we are still waiting to feel less not ready. Great description, Anne :) I just finished my 4 for $40 at Mind the Mat so hopefully I’ll see you in a class sometime.

        • 72

Awesome, hope to see you there! And I am glad my “not NOT ready” description made sense… best way to explain it I think! :)

  44. 73

    Wooohoooo!!! :D

  45. 74
    Erin M. says:

Congratulations!! So happy for you both!

  46. 75

I already said congrats on FB but why not here too! I think it’s so weird everyone keeps saying “they had a feeling” because I did too? How can people that barely know each other have a feeling about these things, so weird!? In any case, I’m SUPER EXCITED for you! Can’t wait to follow along in your greates adventure yet!

  47. 77

    Congratulations! That is so exciting!

  48. 78
    Holleigh says:

Congratulations!!! I read all the time but I’ve never commented but this is too exciting not to!!

  49. 80

Congrats!!! I was anticipating this announcement (the alcohol! the running!), but then the puppy thing threw me for a loop. ;) My questions are how were you able to continue to eat with such variety? And how tough was it fielding hinting comments on the internet?

(Also, I know pregnant women get inundated with unasked for suggestions, so feel free to ignore — but if you do want any rec’s, the podcast The Longest Shortest Time is a good listen with a number of pregnancy and birth-related episodes, and The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth is a clear, evidence-based read, although the evidence is now a bit older!)

    • 81

Thank you so much R! Dinners have definitely not been as varied lately… I haven’t written about them much because it’s been a lot of cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc! Evenings are the worse! And I actually only had one hinting comment about why I didn’t drink in Asheville, surprisingly!

  50. 82

Congratulations!! I think that’s awesome the baby and puppy will grow up together! 👶🏼🐶

  51. 83

big congrats! So happy for you both.
You’ll see that’s indeed great adventure. Hope you enjoy the pregnancy as much as I did with my both pregnancies. You might feel sick sometimes and heavy at the end, but you’ll miss it after you unload the baby. :)

Congratulations!! Can’t wait to hear all the details. I’m about the same age and me and hubby are starting to think about TTC. I know nothing really and want it to be relatively stressfree, so I hope to hear about your experience!

If you haven’t watched this before, its highly worth the 5 minutes. I can’t help but laugh when I see the words “I’m Pregnant” now!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! I’ve been a blog reader for years and I’m so happy for you!! Best of luck with this new adventure!

  73. 109

Congratulations! I’m due on June 1st (which is coming up way faster than I think I’m ready for!). We’ve been married for almost 8 years, so people were starting to lose patience with us by the time we finally announced my pregnancy. :) Once I was feeling better, I was able to resume a lot of my normal workouts until about 28 weeks. Since then I’ve stuck to a lot of walking and yoga! It sounds like the weather is going to cool off by the time you hit your third trimester. Fall will be a perfect time to nest!

    • 110

Lol yeah I think most people had given up on even asking us! :) Congratulations to you too – and I agree, fall will be awesome – for you, too, with stroller walks! :)

    Ahhhh! Congratulations!
I’m so happy for you guys :§

  80. 120

Hi Anne! We met once in Chapel Hill (or maybe Carrboro?) a million years ago (used to live there). I’m due early Dec (with my 3rd) so I’m happy to have an online pregnancy buddy :) Also it makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who loves the walk breaks during pregnant running! (For me they are a necessity!). Good luck & will be fun to follow along. I’m curious to hear if your 1st tri has been as miserable as mine. (I think my tolerance has decreased with each one!). It’s worth it though!!!!

    • 121

How exciting – congratulations!! I hope you’re doing well! :) And yes, 1st tri = not super fun… stay tuned for more in today’s post!

  81. 122

Best news I’ve heard all year! Congratulations guys! :)

Congratulations!! I missed this post so just saw the one you posted today. Had to comment – how exciting!

I just had my first non-fur baby in December 2016. My son is now 5 months old and it has certainly been an adventure. I look forward to hearing about you and Matt’s journey to parenthood!

When in November are you due? We are due in late Nov as well, although we haven’t officially posted anything on our social media yet…
