I’m having the best time here in New England visiting friends!

044

Yesterday afternoon, I arrived in Boston to absolutely stunning weather. Cool, breezy, and super sunny. Amazing! My college friend Kris picked me up at the airport and we headed to Newburyport on the north shore to be reunited with our other college friend, Lu!

024

Lu has been traveling all around the world for the past year having adventures and literally just got back this week. Perfect timing 🙂

028

Kris, Lu, and I had a blast walking around and talking a mile a minute to catch up on everyone’s lives. It had been way too long!

Newburyport is ADORABLE, too. Can I move here?! Except for when it’s really cold and snowy in the winter? 🙂

023

We walked around the town for a bit and then headed over to the marina area. Beautiful!

036 031 034

Our next stop was a short drive away — the beach on Plum Island, which is just off the northeast coast of Massachusetts.

037

We spent a couple hours walking on the beach, enjoying the beautiful weather and each other’s company 🙂

040

050

I stuck my toe in the water and man was it cold! This ain’t North Carolina anymore, Toto!

043

We also stopped for a little picnic 🙂 Walking on the beach is a workout!

046

Such a wonderful day with good friends. Kris, Lu, and I were all on the same college freshman floor (along with a number of other best friends — we missed you Turner, Lisa, Hunter, and Bitting!) — there’s nothing like friends that have known you for ages. 🙂

After saying goodbye to Lu, Kris and I headed back into Boston and went out to an amazing Tapas bar for dinner called Dali.

052

So delicious and very artsy and unique decor inside, too! Unfortunately no photos since it was SUPER dark.

This morning, I dragged Kris on a run with me. 😉 It’s so amazing to run in cooler weather again!

054

We ran along the river a bit and also stopped by Soldier’s Field at Harvard.

057 056

A bunch of Kris’s friends do a group workout at the stadium once a week to run the stairs. Kris has gone a few times and said how hard it was; clearly I took that as a challenge and said I wanted to give it a shot, too 😉 Ya’ll know I love a good challenge!

060

Alright, stairs. Bring it on.

063 064

Whew! I made it!

066

Kris wasn’t kidding about it being hard! You can’t tell in the pictures but the stairs are double the height of normal stairs AND farther apart, too. Yikes! You literally have to do a flying leap to get up each of them.

062

Kris’s turn:

067 068069

3 times was enough — whew!

070

Back to the river and home we went, spent. 🙂

072

Check back later for more adventures 🙂 Hope you’re all having a nice Friday!

I love Newburyport. My grandmother used to take me to a bead (I totally just typed head) shop there when I was little and I'd buy things to make necklaces and earrings for my grandmothers and mom. Yep, water in New England NEVER gets warm.

Stairs are awesome. Great for generating oxygen debt -- and sore muscles. Stopping at 3 sets probably prevented the latter for you. But, good workout to put into your routine!
