Hey friends! First things first – happy week 3 of the Winter Shape Up! Don’t forget to comment daily on both the week 3 meal plan and week 3 workout page to be entered into this week’s giveaways. 🙂 Keep up the great work!

As you guys know, Matt and I spent the weekend skiing!

We headed to Whitetail in Pennsylvania, which is one of the closest places to DC for skiing/snowboarding – only about an hour and a half away. We went two years ago with a big group of people and had a blast, so when the trip got organized again this year we jumped right on it.

We had a huge group – 14 of us – and stayed in two condos walking distance to the ski area. Matt and I arrived around 9 on Friday and spent the evening hanging out with everyone in one of the condos, singing along while Matt played 90’s music on guitar. Amazing. 😉

Saturday was all about the skiing! I’m not the most confident skier so I stuck mostly to the greens, although I did make it on the blues a few times too. 🙂

One of the nice things about Whitetail is that they actually have decent food options – there’s a pretty awesome create your own salad or sandwich area in the lodge! We broke for lunch around noon and I got a big salad and a side of white chicken chili soup, which was delicious. Both hit the spot! Plus some unsweetened iced tea. 🙂 It wasn’t too cold and the sun was out so our group all ate outside together.

After we ate, it was back to skiing! I skied with Matt in the morning but took off with a few of the other girls on the trip for the first part of the afternoon so he could go ski the harder slopes with the guys.

Around 3:30, we all headed back to the condos to relax for a bit. We were exhausted! I did about 20 minutes of restorative yoga with a couple of the other girls which felt amazing – my legs were so tight. A little while later, we made dinner! One of the other girls on the trip, Stephanie, made everyone a huge homemade guacamole. It was AMAZING and we were all starving so we swarmed like vultures. The main course was burritos! So good.

Around 8, we all headed back out to the slopes for some night skiing! I love night skiing – way less crowded. 🙂 It was hard to motivate to go back out into the cold but once we were out there we were all happy we had!

We skied until just before they closed at 10, then came back to the condos and played a rousing (and hilarious) game that involved splitting into two groups and acting out various ridiculous skits. What a blast! You know it was fun because I was up until 2 a.m. – that hasn’t happened in awhile. 😉

Matt and I made it back to DC around lunchtime yesterday, which was nice because we had the whole day to get organized for the week. I also treated myself to a nice late afternoon yoga class at Edge Yoga via ClassPass (<—affiliate link for $20 off your first month).

As for the Super Bowl, we watched at our friends Tom and Janice’s place! They said they were making nachos and wings, so instead of bringing another appetizer Matt and I decided to contribute a big salad.

We made an arugula salad with cucumbers, green pepper, tomato, and mushrooms. Dressed with a homemade vinaigrette (lemon juice + olive oil + dijon mustard). Yum! I have some leftovers that I’m going to incorporate into today’s lunch.

I enjoyed some of the nachos as an appetizer (it was chips + cheese + tomato + black beans + banana peppers = yum)…

And then had a combination of wings and salad for dinner. Perfect balance of healthy and not. 🙂 My drink of choice was kombucha! Not feeling the booze after enjoying some adult beverages at the ski house.

I’m working from home today as I have a dentist appointment later – thinking I might take advantage and get in a short run or walk before lunch. We’ll see. 🙂

Have a great day, my friends!

How was your weekend? What was the best thing you ate if you went to a Super Bowl party? And what was your favorite commercial? I liked the one about all the super bowl babies – too funny!

So I have been staying away from all processed foods and dairy, wheat and corn. However....I indulged last night, haha! I didn't go overboard (ok I did have 3 chocolate chip cookies, but it had corn flakes in it, so it's like eating cereal...:) but my fave was the taco dip with quinoa chips!

That ski trip looks so fun! I've been to Deep Creek with a bunch of friends and that was a blast. I stayed in for the Super Bowl and made a batch of crockpot turkey enchilada quinoa, plus some champagne. Balance!
