I’m so glad I came up for a visit — the weather was absolutely gorgeous and it was wonderful seeing my family and friends!

Highlights included lunch at Aladdin’s Eatery with my mom:

050 055 056

A hike around Roosevelt Island with my girls Heidi and Ashley:

Heidi’s boyfriend Jason joined us for the hike as well so we had a photoshoot 😉 Here’s Heidi and Jason looking cute:

And me and Ashley, pretending we are dating, heh. Ashley was my training buddy for my recent half marathon, as well as the Army Ten Miler in the fall and the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in the spring. 🙂 I miss her!

075 078

And then… we may or may not have made a pyramid. No big deal.

079

Heh. I heart these girls.

The awesomeness continued with an early birthday dinner and drinks last night with a big group of my girls:

020 017 016

I even had birthday baklava (we went to a Lebanese place, heh)!! 🙂

019

And lastly — another bike ride along the beautiful Mount Vernon Trail today!

What a wonderful weekend! I couldn’t have asked for a better early birthday trip 🙂

I’m now getting ready to make the drive back down to Chapel Hill — catch you guys later from back down south!

So beautiful! My husband and I are headed to DC for the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert rallies on October 30th. I hope it's not too cold then! Do you have restaurant or hotel recommendations in areas close to the National Mall? Actually, any recommendations in general would be awesome :) Glad you enjoyed your early birthday trip!

Me, my husband, brother, sister-in-law, sister, brother-in-law all went to the Glenn Beck Aug. 28 Rally for America rally in DC and it was awesome. First time I have been since 7th grade.

Fun! Those will be entertaining I bet. I don't know about stuff near the mall or hotels since I've never stayed in any, but some great restaurants are Hook (nice, seafood), Sea Catch (also nice, seafood), and Java Green (vegan/vegetarian, lunch). Have an awesome visit! Make sure you hit up the Mt. Vernon Trail at some point - you can walk over to it from Memorial Bridge (the bridge behind the Lincoln Memorial!).

Glad you had a nice trip back to DC. It was a beautiful weekend. I also want to say I love your top. I have been looking at wearing lace but wasn't sure how to rock it out. I may just have to steal this look. :)
