Chapel Hill Study-Fest: Day 1!

Good morning from Chapel Hill! It’s nice to be back. 🙂

As I mentioned, I’ll be down here for the next week or so cramming for the RD exam with my grad school girlfriends. I arrived around 12:30 yesterday and we got right down to work!

I can already tell that coming down here to study was a GREAT idea. We made a lot of progress yesterday – and it was way more fun (“fun” being a relative term here…) than studying by myself. It just helps to talk things out – much better for understanding! And of course it’s great to see my friends again, too. 🙂

We spent about 5 hours at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro yesterday studying. Weaver Street is a local co-op grocery store (I miss it!!) and the added benefit of studying there is that they have an amazing salad bar, too! When I arrived, I hit it hard for lunch. An assortment of veggies/cold salad, plus some cooked beans and chicken in the back! Tahini lemon dressing on top. YUM.

After studying for hours and hours, Maria said farewell and Elle and I packed up and headed to the Durham Lululemon run club! They have a run club every Monday at 6 p.m. (it meets at Studio East 54, a pilates/reformer place) – perfect after a long day of studying. And we picked the right night to go, because they were giving away free Lulu socks to those who came! Win!

We had a good run – we did about 3 miles at a speedy clip – I think about 8 minute miles at the beginning. Whew! Even more fun was that my friend Tim came, too! I was hoping his wife Lindsey could make it, too, but she was stuck at work.

Post-run and red-faced with Elle and Tim (obsessed with that wallpaper behind us!):

Thanks for the run, Lululemon! I think we’ll be back next week, too. 🙂

After the run, Elle, Tim, and I decided to walk to the bar next door to chat and enjoy some snacks. Enormous hummus platter – yes please!

After the run and hang out, I headed out to Apex, NC! I’m staying with Maria and her family for the first few nights this week and with Elle for the next few. Very kind of them to take me in. 🙂 Maria and I hung out and I ate a little more food and then we hit the hay super early. Man, I was exhausted after a long drive and studying – my brain must have used up all my glucose! 😉 <—- nerd alert) Speaking of brains – on the drive down, I was listening to the book “Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain” on Audible, which is really fascinating. Highly recommended – any of you read it yet?

On the agenda today: more studying! Maria and I are hitting her gym this morning (she has a guest pass) and then Elle’s coming over around 10:30 so we can get back down to work. Tonight, I’m having dinner with Tim and Lindsey in our old neighborhood!

Have a great day, everyone!

It's so nice that you have a group of girls to study with! I moved back to my hometown after finishing grad school so I studied solo! It would have been a lot more entertaining to study with others! Good luck on the exam :) It's such a great feeling when you finish!

So funny! I was eating lunch at the co-op on Monday thinking "That looks like Anne from that blog." Seriously! Almost stopped at your table and said "Do you write a blog?" but felt like a creeper (not at all like I do now...) Now I know it was you! My coworker and I love your blog. Good luck on your exam!
