Hello and happy 4th of July for those of you that are American! Matt and I went downtown for the fireworks last year, so this year we’re going to stay in Virginia and hit up a friend’s place — they have a great roof deck with views of fireworks from all over!

Even though I won’t see the monuments up close today, I did get to say hello to them last night during my Tuesday night Lululemon Georgetown run club.

It was a really hot, muggy night — running seriously felt like swimming. But the sky looked really cool.

I stuck with the middle pace group — we covered about 4.5 miles at a 9 min/mile pace — maybe a little faster? I’m not sure because I forgot to start my watch — fail!

Over at the WWII Memorial, we stumbled upon a concert!

See the band on the right? They were awesome! We stopped to listen for a minute and catch our breath. 🙂

I’m off to enjoy the holiday — I hope those of you that have today off are, too!

Love that you guys stopped to appreciate the music! Reminds me of the quote, "Don't measure exercise only by heart rate or calories burned or miles run or pace. How about flowers sniffed? Sights seen?"

We almost went downtown but then decided against it! Do you find that it's worth battling the crowds?

I think it is every once in awhile. :) I usually do it every couple years - it really is so cool to be up so close!
