There’s nothing quite like celebrating the 4th of July in our nation’s capital.

013

It was a beautiful night to celebrate America’s birthday 🙂

017

I love the 4th of July. We used to spend it up in New York with my dad’s parents when my brother and I were little, in the super cute little town where my dad grew up. I always think of those happy, hot summer days in New York with my family. It was the best — they had a parade, a pet show, 3 legged races, the works. On the night of the 4th, everyone in town would gather around the lake in town for the fireworks, and the kids would go to work trying to get as many glow sticks on their bodies as possible. 🙂

My favorite parts of the 4th of July:

BBQing with friends:

Being allowed to be obnoxiously patriotic:

Sparklers:

And, of course, fireworks 🙂

What’s your favorite part of the 4th of July? How did you spend the holiday growing up?

I’ll be back tomorrow to continue my Stonyfield Blogger Barnstorming Tour recaps! I hope you all had a GREAT holiday weekend full of family, friends, and happiness 🙂

Love the strawberries and cake! So festive. Your tank is cute too. My bf and I got back late last night from a little camping excursion and we were too tired to go watch any fireworks. I kind of missed seeing them. Heard lots around the neighborhood though!

Those patriotic strawberries are awesome. I'll have to remember those and try it next year. I'm glad you had a wonderful Independence Day.

The whole family went to my brother's home about 20 minutes away from my home. He has a big big in ground swimming pool. My niece made a flag cake with red white and blue stawberries. Looks just like yours. I love th 4th of July and am very sad when I ask some of the young people if they even know what it is and their reply is I dunno. Being the eldest in the family, I give them a history lesson and they thank me for it. I enjoy your pictures so much. Love you
