Kayaking + Food Highlights

Hey guys! There was a hint of fall in the air this weekend – got me excited for cozy clothes and pumpkin everything!

Matt and I took advantage of the cooler, less humid temps by going kayaking on Saturday with a bunch of friends.

We hadn’t been kayaking since the 4th of July (recap: Washington DC Fireworks by Kayak) – I don’t like going when it’s too hot because you’re just sitting there baking! But once the weather cools down, it’s one of my favorite ways to get outside and enjoy.

We rented kayaks at the Key Bridge Boathouse and paddled north. Matt and I shared a kayak so I wouldn’t be left behind because it was just me and the guys on this adventure! Thanks, Matt! 🙂

We spent about two hours out there before heading back to shore and grabbing a late brunch with the others at Malmaison nearby in Georgetown. I had a beet + apple + ginger + carrot juice and their avocado toast – delicious!

As for Saturday night, we had another fun meal out – my friend Libby from grad school was in town with her fiance Adrian for a wedding – loved getting to see them! The bump was in full force – it gets bigger as the day goes on! 🙂

dinner with friends

We hit up our old fave Virtue Feed and Grain in Old Town. I had some unpictured fries shared with the table, plus the salmon quinoa salad. Yummy!

As for yesterday, Matt and I took some nice dog walks, I hit a yoga class, and we did a ton of stuff around the house – still working on moving things around and sorting through old stuff to start getting the baby’s room together! We enjoyed salads on the deck last night for dinner – I had some leftover steak from dinner at my parent’s place on Friday night, so Matt re-seared and sliced it up while I made us the salad base! Baby kale + green pepper + cucumber + string beans + homemade balsamic vinaigrette.

It was simple and yummy, and we were planning on making a big thing of popcorn to enjoy with the Game of Thrones season finale (SO GOOD) a couple hours later so it was the perfect light meal to tide us over until popcorn!

I’m downtown today and about to enjoy some lunch break yoga – have a good day, my friends!

Have you been kayaking this summer?

We totally want to get a kayak, it's like the only fun water sport we can do in AZ!

I haven't been kayaking since high school! Definitely something to try out this summer :) The bump is looking gorgeous! And I love that grey dress you are wearing too.

recently got back from a 3-week trip to Southeast Asia and in Thailand we did sea kayaking which included a mangrove forest canal area where one of the James Bond films (man with the golden gun) was filmed!
