Taking Advantage of Spring!

It’s official, my friends – I’ve made the switch from frozen to fresh berries in my morning Perfect Microwave Banana Oatmeal. I know, big news. Please alert the press.

By the way, that’s an espresso cup, not a regular coffee cup. That would mean I was having the largest bowl of oats ever…

Anyway. On the running front, I’m LOVING this amazing spring morning running weather. Anyone else?

I got in an early run with my friend Sokphal yesterday and we were rewarded with the most lovely, crisp, sunny morning.

I may feel like this when my alarm first goes off…

But I just have to remind myself that if I get through the sucky getting out of bed part of the day… this will be my reward:

Totally worth it.

Sokphal and I rocked out 5 miles together at an 8:39 average pace. I’m really working on getting my speed back after doing so much slower long distance training for marathons lately vs. faster, shorter runs. I’ll get there!

In other news, this morning was the last day of the Basic Nutrition course I taught this spring at George Washington University! My students gave presentations this week on fad diets – really interesting and a nice way to see them tie together what they’ve learned over the past few months. I can’t believe how quickly spring semester flew by. Today was definitely bittersweet – my students were a really nice, engaged group (especially considering how early the class was – 8 a.m. on Tues/Thurs) and I’ll miss them! I still haven’t decided whether I’m going to teach again in the fall – I’ve been thinking that I might need to focus more on doing a few things really well vs. a lot of things just okay, but we’ll see. 🙂

As for the rest of the day, I have a couple AnneTheRD client meetings, will hopefully squeeze in a lunchtime walk in this lovely weather, and then I’m hopping on the train to NYC later this afternoon! I’m headed up for a cool photo/video shoot tomorrow for a new partnership. I’ll be sharing more details at the end of June and can’t wait to tell you all about it, but for now, I’ll post some sneak previews of the action on my Instagram/Facebook/Twitter. It should be fun – it’s not every Friday morning I get full hair and makeup done, that’s for sure! :)

Check back tomorrow for an inspiring running-related post and have a great day, my friends!

You are already a fast runner in my book! I feel slow as molasses compared to you :) Would love to run 5 miles at an 8:39 pace....keep telling myself that once I'm done with my Grad program (2 more weeks!!) I'll (a) get more sleep and (b) get better about running regularly again.

Great job on the faster 5 miler! It's so different running long distances versus shorter ones. And HELLO SPRING!

I took a nutrition class at 8AM on tuesday/thursdays at my university & honestly it was the my favorite class. I participated more than I ever have. So I'm assuming that's why your group was so "engaged"! :)

I am loving the spring weather too! I have finally been able to buy some blueberries and strawberries, and I absolutely love them! I want my hamstring to hurry up and get better though so I can start enjoying my morning runs again!

I am also loving the spring weather that has FINALLY reached Massachusetts after a very long, incredibly cold winter (and near non-existent early spring). Of course, that means my allergies started up after Monday's run, but I'll take it! Have fun in NYC. I know a couple of other bloggers headed that way and can't wait to see what you all have in store for us!

I am LOVING the spring morning running weather. I got up for my first morning run outside in a really long time on Tuesday. I so hit the snooze too and said "Nope going back to bed" BUT as I was lying there I thought how good it would feel to get in done in the morning. Wow. I forgot that feeling. 5 miles done by 7am is not a shabby way to start your day. :)

Beautiful pictures and yummy Banana Oatmeal with fresh berries!! Your kitten is really cute and, like mine, spends his day avoiding work carefully and reflecting with closed eyes.
