The Perfect Weather for a Walk

Good morning!

We have been having some STUNNING weather here in Chapel Hill the past couple days. 65 and super sunny on Tuesday AND Wednesday — crazy, right? The only problem is that this makes it very hard to focus on school work. I compromised yesterday by relocating my “office” outside. 🙂

I also enjoyed lunch al fresco!

I had leftover pasta with ground turkey and veggie sauce that Matt made for us on Monday night — it was so good. Peppers, mushrooms, spinach, olives… mmm. There’s just something so awesome about pasta with meat sauce.

Plus a simple spinach, green pepper, and avocado salad:

And some grapes that I forgot to photograph separately apparently. 🙂

I was super productive in the morning and up until about 2 p.m., at which point I decided it was time for a break. I headed out to meet my friend Lindsey for a walk! One of the HUGE benefits of being a student is that while I’m super busy all the time, I can plan my own schedule. So if I want to take a walking break in the middle of the day because it’s nice out… I can. Best thing ever.

Lindsey just had her baby on last Friday morning — not even a week ago — and doesn’t she look amazing?! Her little man came on the walk with us in his stroller. Most adorable baby ever. I should have gotten a photo of him for you guys! He must have liked the movement of the stroller because he was sound asleep the whole time.

We walked for about an hour and it was wonderful — I felt so lucky to be out socializing in the middle of the day and the sun felt so nice! I said this yesterday on Twitter, but I feel like my body operates like a solar panel. I get so much energy and happiness from the sun. 🙂

I have a busy day ahead today — class starting at 9:30 and going until about 5. Clearly I have packed enough food for an army. Have a great Thursday, friends!

Wow, she does look amazing! I miss the sun - but it's almost February, which means its almost spring, right?

Haha, I'm pretty sure I operate like a solar panel too. Funny, I never thought about it like that though. One of the people from Dickinson that I studied abroad with had a friend come visit who was a total freak talking about how her and her mom were doing "a sun diet" and living off the energy of the sun like a plant would. I didn't see the girl eat the entire time she was there but obviously she must've been sneaking food at night because unlike plants we don't produce food through the friggin sun!

Your friend looks incredible! And taking a 6 day old outside for a walk- it really shows that even with a newborn there are still ways to get out and make time for something fun/just for you :)

Yep! She stayed fit all through the pregnancy and also didn't gain an excessive amount of weight. That's the key! Also, having a good birthing experience also helps so you aren't too banged up. :)

I'm the same way with the sun, I derive so much energy from it. Nice to see a great balance of work and relaxation in your day.

Your friend really is hot, any chance i can get her number? Actually I think Lindsey looks great, and am super proud of how she stayed in shape! We signed up for our "first race back" after the baby. We are doing the Tar Heel 10miler in April, the Indianapolis half marathon in may and the trilatta sprint tri in June. Hardest part is signing up, it's all down hill from there!

Hehe. Excited to do the Tarheel 10 Miler with you guys! So smart to sign up for races already - great motivation to get back in shape ASAP. I know your schedule is scary, but let me know if you ever want to meet up for a run!
