Thursday Morning Run Finale

I went for my first run since the Vegas half marathon yesterday! It was my final Thursday early a.m. run of the semester with my girl Elle.

At the beginning of this semester, Elle and I made a plan to run together every Thursday morning before class. With the exception of a couple Thursdays when one of us has been out of town, it’s been a successful Thursday morning ritual! Often my favorite part of the week. :) I loved the time to catch up on each other’s lives (and the motivation to get out of bed). The runs were especially nice since this semester has been by far our craziest and we haven’t gotten in much social time other than our runs!

We ran our usual hilly loop yesterday.

My legs felt pretty good but were still a bit tired from the half; my lower back and hips in particular felt tight. But we had a good run!

  • Mile 1: 8:55
  • Mile 2: 9:44 (hill of deathhhh)
  • Mile 3: 9:16
  • Mile 4: 8:36
  • 0.32 nubbin pace: 8:37

Total mileage: 4.32. Total time: 39:16. Average pace: 9:05. Good times!

I wore my compression sleeves — I am still amazed that they have seriously completely cleared my calf tightness issue. Hooray! My ankle feels great still, too. (And yes, I forgot to take off the timing strip thingy from Vegas.)

It was COLD yesterday morning — winter is back again. The weather here is so weird. It was 70 earlier this week and then from Wednesday night to Thursday morning a massive cold front came in and it was down to 30.

Nerd alert

We had a very chilly stretching session after our run — that concrete was COLD!

We’ve already decided to continue our Thursday morning run tradition next semester. Yay. Workout buddies are the best.

Anyway, time to buckle down and finish up studying — my first of 3 final exams is this morning at 11! I got up early to go to our little apartment gym only to find it was randomly locked (grrr), so I came back and did some weights in the living room instead. Good enough. I’m thinking a walk in the sunshine later on today will serve as the rest of my workout and a nice break from biochem studying. :)

Have a happy Friday!

Question…what kind of running tights are those? I need more than my one lulu pair but trying to not spend $100!

Love the Tshirt! Way to represent Tampa!!! ;)

  6. 8

I’ll have to check out those running tights! I went for a chilly morning run today and realized that I could use a new pair to keep me warm and flexible during the winter months ahead. :D

Best of luck with the exams!! :D

  7. 9

Love the UT tee! UT has a Theta chapter now!

  8. 10

I love that you and Nutrionella are friends :) Looks like you’re running on the Greenway…one of Chapel Hill’s gems!

  9. 12

Good luck on ur finals! Workout buddies are the best.

  10. 13

I went for my first post LV run on Wednesday and my legs felt super sore and tight. I wonder if it had to do with the fact that we came to such a dead stop at the end and then I’m sure the cold didn’t help! Can’t wait for them to feel normal again!

  11. 15

We rock. Can’t wait for our celebratory jaunt tomorrow after the final of death! xo

  12. 16

So wish I could be running outside right now! It’s 20 in Chi right now :( Sounds like you had a good run, girl!

Good luck; hope the first exam went well! And great work on the Thurs morning routine!

  14. 18

You look great, keep it up! I thought it was interesting your fastest mile was your last. Thats a cool sign of good endurance. Always better to finish faster then you started ;)

  15. 20

Always recommend early morning runs to get the day going – even if it’s raining but especially when it’s fresh (aka cold)

Looks nice out there at the moment – not so good here tbh
