Total Body Circuit Workout

So now that I’m done with grad school, I have time to get on the cute workout graphic bandwagon. I always love these sort of things so when Matt and I did a really fun circuit style workout on Saturday in Chapel Hill I thought you all would enjoy it if I shared!

Total Body Circuit Workout

We set out to do a normal run but decided it would be more fun (and good for us) to insert some strength in there, too! So the above is what we came up with. You can do the workout outside or in a gym using a treadmill. Whatever works best for you! (And of course, try this at your own risk.) I thought it would be fun to give the graphic a winter theme even though apparently it’s going to be almost 70 degrees out today… in December. So weird.

So off we went! After running a mile, we stopped for our mini boot camp.

First up – 15 Pushups!

15 Tricep Dips on a bench (this would work well in a gym, too, since you can use the workout benches) – please note Matt hamming it up for the camera:

30 Crunches:

And 15 Supermans! A superman is done by lying on your stomach with your arms in front of you, then you lift your arms and legs up off the ground. It’s a great lower back strengthening move. A modified version you could try is to have your hands out to the side or down by your side instead – this will be less pressure on your back.

And then repeat. 🙂 We did the workout 3 times for a total of 3 miles, but you could do as long or short a workout as you like!

Have fun! Let me know how you like it. 🙂 And if you guys are a fan of the pinnable workouts like this, let me know and I’ll try to make more!

I love the cute graphics on PicMonkey but rarely spend time playing with them. I can see how it would become addicting though. Great workout!

Cute workout graphic! I love the idea of breaking up an outdoor run with strength training moves mixed in. I'm going to have to try this one soon - we've been having some unseasonably warm weather in the Midwest too!
