A Beautiful Day to be Free

Hey guys! Happy MLK Day 🙂

018

It was a gorgeous day here in Washington, D.C. and I had the day off from work and school. I was supposed to go ice skating with a friend but it was too crowded, so we decided to have an impromptu sightseeing tour instead 🙂

001

This is the type of thing I am always too lazy to do in my own city (as opposed to when I’m living abroad or something), so it was nice 🙂

First we checked out the Washington Monument:

Did you know that the Washington Monument is actually made from two different types of stone? You can really see the division in this picture:

After the Washington Monument we made our way over to the Lincoln Memorial:

Lincoln says “what up!”

I’m off to bed — busy day tomorrow! I have my first quiz in Anatomy & Physiology, I need to finish up a grad school application, and then my mom is flying in in the evening so I’ll be picking her up from the airport.

Goodnight! 🙂

Okay this post made me REALLY homesick. Beautiful pictures and I think DC is so beautifull! Did you decide if you're running the GW Parkway run yet? (In response to your comment on my blog!). Also, I ran the Cherry Blossom last year and LOVED it. You will love it too - it's beautiful! Have a good night!
Hey! I still haven't decided... debating with friends at the moment :) I'll let you know!! I'm excited to start training for the Cherry Blossom in a week or so! -Anne

I am the exact same way! I live in the DC area too and rarely do the sightseeing thing. It was so nice on Monday-- good call going down there!
