Gooooood morning!

So, it’s randomly 70 degrees and super humid this morning in North Carolina. Wtf?! I feel like I’m in Florida! Weirdest winter ever. It was cold yesterday!

I decided the only way to deal with this was to have a smoothie for breakfast 🙂

001

I made my favorite — a green Banana & Spinach smoothie! Sounds gross, is delicious. Super quick and easy, too 🙂

002

On the side — a piece of hearty wheat toast topped with almond butter and the other half of my banana (the first half went in the smoothie!):

006

I think I would eat toast with almond butter and banana for every single meal if I could. Soooo good.

All together now!

005

I also decided that this weather warranted painted toe nails and flip flops 🙂

003

Flip flops feel weird because I haven’t worn them in so long!

Before breakfast, I spent some time this morning at my apartment gym on the elliptical with my biochem flash cards (I had a smaller piece of toast with almond butter before leaving home).

008

Doesn’t that just look like a blast? Sigh. I’m all about the multitasking when busy/trying to study, though, as you know! My test is at 11 a.m. I’m feeling kind of prepared, but not as prepared as I’d like to be. There’s just so much complicated stuff to understand/remember!

I will leave you with some fun photos of my awesome speed workout early yesterday morning with the girls at the UNC track. I think we killed Lauren, haha. (The sweat stain makes this photo even more awesome)

010 012 013

We did the same workout as two weeks ago:

  • Jog 1.5 miles to the track to warm up
  • Run 12 laps around the track (3 miles), broken down as:
    • 6 laps at a fast pace (~6:30 min/mile pace)
    • 6 laps (one in between each fast lap) at a slow jog/ending in a walk to recover
  • Jog 1.5 miles back home (man we were tired!)

As you can see, we did a total of 6 miles! Intense. I’m definitely sore today, but as always foam rolling and icing help 🙂

Time to finish studying, pack lunch, and head off to school! Have a great Wednesday!

I love this warm weather in NC...even though tomorrow its supposed to be back in the 40s. I just couldn't when I got up this morning at 5am how warm it was....but I do hate the humidity...bad hair days! lol! So, this morning was not a hot oatmeal morning! I had a cold apple instead!

Oh goodness. I am so jealous of your flip flops. It is snowing and raining ice right now, here in New England. I could use some flip flops and sun in my life...haha. :D Your breakfast looks fabulous!

I am with you on the toast with almond butter. I know some people get tired of it, but I could eat it every day and die happy!

If I lived in the South, I'd wear flip-flops all year long (except in the snow). I'd love to wear them this time of year.

I'm in Wilmington and also painted my toenails and put on flipflops for the first time in ages this morning. It seemed like it was too nice not to wear flip flops!! The toast and smoothie look delicious!!

I'm so jealous of your weather! It's -4F here, and could get down to -15F with the wind chill. C'est la vie in Montana, I guess :/

Really impressive speedwork, Anne. Very well done. (Good distance too, frankly.) Congrats! (And how nice you've got some great workout partners for those workouts. As you're experiencing, speedwork is hard!)

I hope you did well on your test. Love those flip flops. It's 40 degrees at 12:45 pm and very windy. Love " nanner"sandwiches. I'm going to make me a smoothie like that, looks great.

You obviously feel the need... the need for SPEED... (workouts). Name that famous 80s flick ;) PS i hate you more on the 70 degress. In addition to the foot of snow we got yesterday, it is now pouring down cold rain. Literally, puddles HIGHER than my boots because the rain has nowhere to go, every inch is covered in SNOW. Had to literally strip when I got in to work. Thank goodness I had my gym bag, I am currently rocking my gym shoes ;) Totally matches my outfit ;)

I can only imagine wearing flip flops with all the crazy weather we're having in the Northeast. I'm so ready for warmer weather and bad tan lines :) Loving the sweat stains. Wear 'em proud!

Green smoothies are my favorite, have one every morning. Unfortunately, no flip flop weather for another 3-4 months, wind chills of 50 below here in Wyoming right now.
