Adventures in Epic Yoga

As you guys probably know by now, for me fitness is all about keeping it fun and varied. Recently, I’ve been enjoying checking out some of the different yoga studios in the area with my friend Gena!

A week and a half ago we met for a noon power house class at a new (to me) studio in Dupont called Epic Yoga. Great name, right? Gena has been raving about this place so I was excited to check it out.

I love this board they have displayed when you enter. So cute (and good advice)!

The studio is gorgeous – spacious and welcoming, and I love the exposed brick wall look.

Here’s one of the yoga rooms – again, love the walls! I loved the power hour class we attended, too – it was taught by Mimi Rieger. Great class and a good sweat!

Epic Yoga offers drop ins for $18, but for newbies, they also offer a $20 week long all-you-can-yoga pass. Sign me up! A few days later, Gena and I hit up another noon power hour class, which was more low key but also good.

And on last Thursday night, I returned again, this time with Heather for a Barre Yoga class taught by Emma Saal, the studio owner.

The class was more yoga than barre, but it was fun to mix it up and Emma is great. Overall, I give Epic Yoga two big thumbs up. Cool variety of classes, beautiful studio, and not pretentious. Win! It’s a little pricey for me to make a habit out of going there, unfortunately, but I hope to work it into the rotation every once in awhile. :)

All this yoga also meant I got to try out some new gear sent to me this month by Reebok! Did you know they’ve started a line of yoga clothes? To make the Studio Collection yoga gear, Reebok partnered with Tara Stiles, the founder of Strala Yoga. Cool!

Tara Stiles

Reebok sent me the Yoga Capri Tight in black, the Yoga Tee in white, and the Yoga Short Bra in aqua vapor. Everything was REALLY soft, which I loved. Yoga felt so cozy! It all features their PlayDry technology to keep you dry and ventilated, too.

I loved the color of the sports bra – and the cute cut-out shape in the back!

They also sent me this cool Yoga Pocket Tank in white/coral. Love it!

I was a big fan of the gear – comfortable and it felt good during my workout, too. Just a heads up – it runs a little large, so you might want to buy a size down!

Hope you’re all having a great day! What fun workouts have you gotten in so far this week? I’m currently gearing up for a run with a friend – finally, the weather has warmed up and the sun is out! Can’t wait.

That looks like the cutest yoga studio ever! I love love the exposed brick! I really think having a calming environment makes a huge difference in attitude while working out! If you like where you are, you may enjoy exercise just a bit more! :)

  2. 3

I am gearing up for a cold run. And may join a Hash Run this week. That would be something new.

  3. 4

such a fun class! I can’t get over how big & beautiful the space is – not to mention the free mats, lockers, etc. We’ll definitely be back!

  4. 6

I just tried a core yoga sculpt class the other day and LOVED it. NEver would I think I would say that after a yoga class but you are so right, fitness is always evolving and changing and it’s so important to embrace the variety!

  5. 7

I love hearing about your yoga adventures in DC! I have been checking out the yoga scene in Bethesda and enjoying it more than I anticipated. This is a fun 2013 goal! Stay committed!

  6. 8

I love Barre classes and Yoga classes…but have never heard of a Barre Yoga class! How cool is that! That studio is gorgeous!

  7. 9

Oh my gosh, I love Epic, and am crazy about classes with Mimi! She used to teach power yoga at my gym when I was still living right in DC, and I never missed a class- she amazing! Unfortunately her classes at Epic are usually at times I haven’t been able to get to. :/

That studio looks amazing and the Reebok clothes look awesome!

Jealous that they have barre yoga! I recently accomplished side crow so now I’m wanting to go to yoga all the time, which probably won’t happen as often as I’d like because there are too many other workouts I want to do too! It’s one of my favorite workouts but I only seem to make it once a week :( My goal is to go three times this week!

I’m impressed you rocked side crow – that’s awesome! I usually only make it once a week, too, but even once still makes a difference! p.s. Miss you – hope Chapel Hill is good!

What an awesome looking yoga studio. I love the exposed brick and it seems like it would be a peaceful place to take yoga. I love the contrast of the ruggedness with the softness of (some) yoga. Wish I would have known about Epic when I visited DC last fall!

I live so close to Epic Yoga and I still have not been! The $20 free for all sounds pretty tempting. So far this week I have been running… let’s just say that my run through Rock Creek Park in the ice/rain on Monday was not so pleasant, but I’m excited about nice weather for a run tomorrow!

Great looking studio, and great looking gear! Thanks —

LOVE yoga and trying new studios. One of the studios in my area has a $5 new student rate and i’m going to HAVE to take advantage of that! :)

I love the color and the back of that sports bra!
