I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret: even though I’m the one with the food blog, when we have friends over, Matt is the one that does most of the cooking. 😉

Matt and I had our friends Tom and Janice over for dinner last weekend to watch the season finale of Breaking Bad. What an awesome show – we’re so sad it’s over, but we all liked the ending! Are any of you guys Breaking Bad fans? What did you think of the finale last week?

When our guests arrived, all of us enjoyed some wine and snacks to start the evening. We had some crackers, cheese, and olives. Simple and tasty! The wine carafe and cheese board were both wedding gifts – love them!

For dinner, Matt and I decided it was time to bring an old favorite recipe back out to play – this apple & sage pork chop recipe from McCormick recipe inspirations. We first tried this as part of a DailyBuzz Food Tastemaker campaign I did with them a year ago and still love it!

Love that all the spices are in one place and already measured. We followed their recipe with the exception of leaving out the brown sugar – it’s not necessary. 🙂

And ready to eat! Plus some garlicky asparagus on the side.

We also enjoyed a salad that Janice made. Awesome dinner with good friends!

What tasty dinners have you guys made lately?

Have a great day!

You know, as a healthy food blogger, I definitely enjoy a break from cooking every once in awhile. I also cook a lot for my hubby since he's so busy with school, so I think we both enjoy it when he can take a turn! I've been playing around with spaghetti squash a lot lately, since the only one I could find at the grocery store on my last trip was about 20 pounds (I may be exaggerating a LITTLE). I'm working on my hubby to make me some homemade sushi (with cooked fish, as I'm pregnant right now), since I haven't had any in forever and he does such a great job with it!

I've always wanted to make homemade sushi! Seems like a lot of work but fun. :)

That's great that your husband will take care of some of the cooking! Mine will offer, but needs a lot of coaching in the kitchen, so we'd be lucky if we ate by midnight! I'm going to have to give this recipe a try! We have some fresh sage leftover from something I made earlier in the week and the other stuff on hand, so it sounds like a good way to use some of it up!

So funny, I was looking for a recipe just like this to make tonight! I was thinking of trying the pork chops on the grill though.

Food with friends is the best :) Best dinner I've made recently was handmade pasta with seafood for my mom's birthday dinner.

Big fan of your blog and of Breaking Bad! I thought the finale last week was great and wrapped up the series well. Although I am also sad it's over!

My husband does most of the cooking when we have people over too. He's awesome! One of my favorite ways to make pork chops is with apricot jam and panko crumbs. It sounds random, but it totally works!

The wine carafe and cheese platter make the party look extra fancy! Loved the finale (or should I say felina) or Breaking Bad - so satisfying how they tied up all the loose ends.

My fiancé and I LOVE Breaking Bad! We were kind of late to the party, though, and just started watching it a few weeks ago on Netflix. We're down to the last season, and I think we're kind of delaying watching it so it doesn't end! That dinner looks delicious! I don't get too fancy with my meals, but I love simple baked chicken with grilled artichokes and dip on the side.

Yum this looks delicious!! Love pork and apple together it always goes so well :) Best dinner I've made lately has been salmon with a mango salsa. Mangoes have just come into season here in Australia and I'm taking full advantage.
