Hello from beautiful Bald Head Island, North Carolina!

094

This is pretty much the most amazing place on earth. Matt and I are here on vacation this weekend to celebrate his birthday (which is today!) and have decided we will never be leaving.

Can you blame us?

Bald Head Island is awesome because no cars are allowed — only golf carts and bikes. We’ve been alternating between the two 🙂

Both bikes AND our very own golf cart were included in our bed & breakfast room rental this weekend. Sweet! The roads are nice and flat, too — perfect for both.

We spent the day yesterday enjoying the beach. The beach here is wonderful — very unspoiled and not crowded at all.

Me: “What are you doing?”

After the beach yesterday, we came back and enjoyed the sunset and some wine on our balcony. This is the amazing view from our B&B balcony:

It was stunning.

Dinner was enjoyed overlooking the water:

I had the steam bucket — full of corn, potatoes, kielbasa and all kinds of seafood — crab, oysters, clams, shrimp, etc!

107

It was gooooood 🙂 Messy and fun to eat, too!

108

We’re off to enjoy the rest of the day — we went kayaking earlier and are taking a breather now before heading back out to the beach for the sunset 🙂

Have a great Saturday!

Absolutely beautiful! My boyfriend and I are thinking of planning a vacation to North Carolina next year. I'm going to mention this place to him! How far of a drive from DC do you think it is?

Happy Birthday Matt. Oooooh, the pictures are great. My family would love this. I'm a mountain gal myself but I could easily change my mind.

Looks amazing! It reminds me of one of my favorite places we used to go to a lot - Dafauskie Island. It's the same with only bikes and golf carts. Definitely gives that cozy, quaint, relaxing feel perfect for vacation. I love all the wineglass pics.

I have been to New Zealand, and I still think that the beaches in North Carolina are the most beautiful in the world! In fact, I am currently en route to Emerald Isle, NC for the week. your pictures are a little preview. I'm so excited! Thanks for sharing :)

Happy Birthday Matt! I LOVE Bald Head Island (and this from a girl who detests the beach and sand)! In high school I would spend at least a week there every summer babysitting for my neighbor, the kids and I often had our own little guest cottage that went along with the house rental, and our own golf cart to explore with! I spent a few New Year's Eves there too. The kids and I would sit on the deck and watch the dolphins swim by, climb the lighthouse, go to the grocery store deli to get picnic sandwiches, check out the marina, and go watch the alligators near the golf course. Hopefully you get to climb the lighthouse before you leave, it's hot but the view is nice, you can see pretty much the entire island! It really is a beautiful place and so laid back, I really like that the beaches aren't so overcrowded...I actually went to the beach when I was there! Hope you have a great trip!
