Brooks Stocking Stuffer Giveaway!

The weather here has been so weird lately – one day it’s balmy, the next it’s frigid. What the heck, mother nature?

Last Thursday morning was one of those frigid days. Thankfully, I had some cozy accessories (which you’ll have a chance to win at the end of this post!) from my friends at Brooks to keep me warm!

utopia thermal headband

Above I’m rocking the Utopia Thermal Headband – so cute, right? Stayed put nicely too! On my feet, I had the Essential Low Cut Tab socks on – my faves. On my hands, the Utopia Softshell Gloves:

I was also rocking the PureProject Warmer, which was awesome! I remember last year while running during the Polar Vortex I was cozy in all my gear with the exception of my butt/hips, which got super cold.

This won’t be a problem anymore! The warmer is one size fits all and you cinch it in with a drawstring. Didn’t budge during our run and kept me nice and cozy, too. It’s super soft material!

pure project warmer

After the run, Sokphal and I experimented other uses for it. Hat? Neck warmer? You decide… ;) (Yes, we’re weird.)

As for the actual run, we had a good one! The sunrise was gorgeous and while it was windy and cold, it felt nice to be out and getting some fresh air.

p.s. Looking for some other holiday gift ideas for runners? A few other favorites of mine from Brooks lately are the Utopia Thermal Tight II (sooo cozy and love the pockets – I’m wearing them in this post), Adapt Jacket (REALLY warm and comfortable – will be great for super cold runs!), and LSD Lite Vest II. 16. 16

  31. 31

This year I am all about making myself a priority. This past year has been great on so many levels, but I realized that many of the down times were spent worrying about what others thought about me and how my happiness depended on their opinions. 2015 I’m committed to not letting that happen again.

  32. 32

  61. 61

I was just talking to someone at work about how getting out in the morning is really hard right now b/c of the cold….we’re currently training for a half in Feb….and running on a treadmill is just not enticing enough to get out of bed. These items would definitely help motivate me to get out of the house and moving in the morning!

My Runny Happy resolution is to run more races next year!

  62. 62

I’m going to run happy while training for a spring half marathon! As long as it doesn’t get icy, I actually kind of like running in the cold!

  71. 71

  79. 79

  103. 103

2015 Resolution: run a half under 2 hours!!

  121. 121
    Melanie Klesse says

My Run Happy Resolution is to continue doing long runs (7-8ish miles) once a week even when I’m not training for something. I’m not waiting until January to start since that always seems a recipe for disaster :) Did 7 miles this past Sunday!

I am going to try to meet up with my running partner at least 2 times a week and get 2 runs a week on my own!

I plan on trying to run outside as much as possible! I also plan on doing more runs on trails, through the woods, and in new places. It keeps me motivated and is the greatest way for me to find stress relief!

  127. 127

My 2015 resolution/goal is to run an 8k from start to finish without walking. My first attempt will be in February, which means I will have to continue running in the cold – always a challenge for me. I just lost my gloves, and these gloves look amazing! I have to replace them before the next cold front hits, because I will use any excuse I can find to get out of running in the cold.

  128. 128
    Elspeth Lemon says

I plan on getting back into my running groove. I ran the Chicago marathon in October then PB’d in a 5km race the following Sunday and capped the month off with a 10km race – I haven’t ran since. I am hoping to PB at the half distance in May!

Hoping for an injury free & PR 5k running year in 2015!

  130. 130
    Chris Anne Spehar says

Running happy for me right now would be to learn how to run without TRIPPING, and somehow trying to protect my phone, so both knees took the brunt of the fall, ripping my brand new $75 tights, and skinning both knees! Running happy would be learning to gracefully & effortlessly run, without looking like I am a heart attack away from perspiring! :)

  131. 131

  138. 138

My Run Happy resolution is to do more speedwork so I can get faster!

  143. 143

I am planning to complete the Chicagoland Half Marathon Race Series, which are 3 halves spread throughout the year. I am intrigued by this warmer thing; it looks super cute and is a great idea if you don’t have a jacket or top that is long.

  144. 144

I’m going to run a marathon this year!

  145. 145

  151. 151

I just want to continue working on speeding up my runs… Orangetheory is helping a lot!

  154. 154

I have my first marathon and 2 half-marathons in 2015. I can’t wait to get through those accomplishments!

  155. 155

I have a million weddings coming up that conflict with all my usual races, so my goal is to find some new-to-me courses to keep me motivated.

  156. 156

This year, I ran my first half marathon and loved it! Now I want to improve my time and run two half marathons in 2015.

  157. 157

My run happy 2015 goals include any running at all. I am having my second baby (any day now!) and I would love to get back into running and training and eventually racing…maybe even a tri this summer! But honestly with two little ones I’ll be happy with anything!

I plan to run happy in a new city, your’s in fact, as my husband just accepted a new job in the DC-area! We will be moving to the area sometime in the early summer. I can’t wait to explore DC running, as I’ve been following your blog for about 18 months now and always marvel at the stunning pictures you take during your runs. I also excited to explore all that DC has to offer fitness-wise (yoga, etc.), as I’ll be looking to network with other DC-area athletes. But, first we have to find a house and move from RI. It’s going to be a busy year!

For 2015, I plan to keep up the same ideas, invest in some new running outfits, up the mileage and look for new trails to explore with my devoted teammates: my friends, my family and Bigby. I also hope to do more fun runs (Santa Run this year was a blast) and maybe even try out some dog dashes. Go Team Bigby!
