Same as before; but with better clothes & hair

Hello friends!

I had a wonderful weekend here in D.C.! I decided to stay until this morning instead of leaving last night, so now it’s time to hit the road back to Chapel Hill! But first — a fun recap.

009

As you know, I was in town this weekend for my 10 year high school reunion! Time flies, right?!

The main event was a cocktail party on Saturday night. We had a great turnout, and it was really fun seeing everyone and catching up with good friends as well as people I hadn’t seen in ages!

004

Fun times! I feel like a 10 year reunion = people still look pretty much the same, just with better clothes and cuter hair 😉

There was also a reunion picnic on Sunday. Here I am with my friend Gabe, his wife Angela, and their adorable 1 year old, Ella! Totally jealous of her purple tights.

Yesterday morning (yes, after being out late at my reunion), I dragged myself out of bed to go meet miss Emily for a run! Big sunglasses were clearly necessary.

005

At first I was somewhat questioning my sanity at getting up early to run after being out late, but the weather was GORGEOUS and it turned out to be a great run with great company 🙂

008

We met up on the GW Parkway Trail, which is one of my favorite running trails in DC — it’s SO beautiful, right along the water across from all the monuments!

012

Emily was doing a long marathon training run (20 miles!), so I said I would keep her company for the first 6. We ran the 6 miles in about 55 minutes at a comfortable 9:06 average min/mile pace, chatting away the whole time. I heart Emily — she’s a great running buddy! 🙂

007

Splits:

  • Mile 1: 9:15
  • Mile 2: 9:12
  • Mile 3: 9:05
  • Mile 4: 9:02
  • Mile 5: 9:04
  • Mile 6: 9:02

It was a wonderful run on an absolutely beautiful morning. Check out our new friend who was also out enjoying the weather:

🙂

And with that, I’m hitting the road! I’ve been listening to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series on CD and it’s SO GOOD!! Makes the drive go by so much more quickly. I’m about halfway through the third book, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, right now. So entertaining!

I hope you all had wonderful weekends. Thank you for all the great feedback on my Project Food Blog Challenge #4 entry post: Cranberry Caramel Date Bars! Voting is now open and, as always, I would be very grateful for your vote! Click here to vote for me 🙂 Thank you!

Wait until your 42nd comes around. For some reason, you don't feel old when you are and you feel old when your young, when your not. That was profound Hahaha

Glad you had a fun reunion! Mine was great, too. I drank way too much wine and had the chance to catch up with so many awesome people. Safe travels today.

Looks like a wonderful get-together -- and a great run, too. 6 miles at 9 mins per mile is great, esp if talking! And I'm trying to vote for you, but the system seems down for a bit! Loved the recipe -

OMG is that GABE?!?! He's all grown up! I remember when he came to visit us at Dickinson when we were baby sophomores :) Little Ella is adorable!

What a coincidence - I had my 10 year reunion this weekend too. It was much like yours. Just a get together at a bar. I totally agree about everyone looking better in general.

It's from Banana Republic's sale rack, but a few years ago, sadly. I love it and want more!

Sounds like a great reunion! That's so great that you were able to meet up with Emily for a DC run. I've been chatting with Emily about the Cherry Blossom Run this year. I hope you can come up and run this year too!! It's on April 3rd and I think registration is now open for the lottery entry. How awesome would it be to get a blogger run and/or meet up going for this?

That would be really fun! I'm not sure I'll be signing up this early without having my spring schedule, but keep me in the loop :)
