Hi guys! I hope those of you who celebrate it had a lovely Christmas. We obviously weren’t traveling this year and enjoyed spending the holiday here in the DC area with my family! Here is a look at our Christmas Eve + Day. 🙂

Christmas Eve is our big nice dinner (so we can just relax on Christmas day). Riese obviously had to wear a party dress for the occasion!

We had two turkeys for the occasion – one baked a la my mom and one fried a la Matt using our oil-less turkey fryer!

My contribution was the salad you see in the back – greens + pomegranate arils + feta + walnuts with a balsamic vinaigrette.

Dessert = strawberry cheesecake. Mmm!

Christmas day brunch = a casserole (from a neighbor, but it was similar to my Smoked Salmon and Vegetable Egg Casserole) plus some salad and a leftover Pear Ginger Honey Muffin for dessert!

I will leave you with this silly family photo from Christmas day! Matt and I snuck upstairs with Riese and Freyja in tow and came back down and surprised everyone with our matching jammies. Lol! Matt found them online somewhere and we though it would be hilarious. Freyja’s dog outfit is actually just a children’s shirt – her face in this photo is so classic… she’s mortified. When Matt first put on the jammies a couple weeks ago to surprise me with them, he came out in his and then called Freyja to come in behind him from the other room and it was silent – no response. Finally she came walking in suuuuuper slowly – it reminded me of this amazing bunny suit scene in my favorite holiday movie, A Christmas Story! Lol!

Have a good one, guys! 🙂

    That photo of your matching family pajamas doesn't get old! I showed it to my husband and said how I wished we could've done that with our three cats. But they would not allow that at all! What a lovely holiday weekend, and Riese is so cute!

      We so wanted to have Zara in the photo too but we knew that would be near impossible and we'd probably get destroyed by scratches, lol!

    I love the matching jammies picture! You guys look so cute. I'm impressed that your husband came up with that on my own. I"m not sure if I will be able to get my husband on board with matching pjs - but maybe he will change after he has a baby and will be more on board with things like that! Looks like you guys had a wonderful first Christmas as a family! Christmas was a little bit different for me this year as I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes the week before Christmas. I am on prednisone for my RA and that raises my blood sugar so I'm not sure if I truly have GD or if my blood sugar is artificially high because of the prednisone use. But regardless, I have to follow the GD diet which means I have to watch what I eat so closely. My MIL kept offering me things I can have (like gelato, ice cream, banana bread) over and over and over again. So I am kind of glad that Christmas is over, as grinchy as that sounds. ;)

      We actually saw a photo somewhere of a family + pets in matching jammies and were cracking up over how hilarious it was, and that's what gave Matt the idea! He wouldn't have been on board if it were a serious thing instead of a joke, lol. I'm so sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes - not fun, especially with all the holiday treats around. :(
