Feeling Thankful

With my brother, Steve, who just returned from deployment:

He arrived back in town on Thursday for the holidays and it’s very nice to have him home :)

We hit up one of my favorite local trails, the C&O Canal, this morning for a leisurely run.

Brrr, check out that snow!

Rocking my sweet new shirt I purchased in honor of my second half marathon announcement Friday, heh:

We covered about 4.5 miles, mostly running and some walking :) I’m actually pretty sore from my week of intense P90X workouts!

I will leave you of this pretty picture of the Potomac River. Quite the change from the last time I posted a picture of this spot, huh?

Enjoy the rest of your weekends! My mom, brother, and I are off to finish up our Christmas shopping :)

  1. 1

I am so happy you can enjoy the holiday with your entire family :)

  2. 2

Enjoy your time with your family!

I’m looking for a place to run up here in DC for the remainder of my visit so I will check out the C&O Canal! :)

  3. 3

We are expecting my bother back just after the new year and I can’t wait! I haven’t seen him since last August (2009) when he left for Germany and then he deployed in June. I miss him so much!

  4. 4

I’m so happy your brother is home safe and sound! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday :)

  5. 5

I’m glad your brother is home…..and just in time Christmas. Even better!
I’ve yet to run on the C&O Canal. I normally run on the Mt. Vernon Trail, but it’s getting a little old. Perhaps I could use a change of scenery.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  6. 6

Love the shirt, it’s totally true!

  7. 7

SO glad your brother is home where he belongs this Christmas. And that shirt is great! It’s definitely how I feel as well.

  8. 8

It warms my heart to see you with your brother!! :) Also love your 13.1 shirt – I want one! xoxo

And it’s good to see your brother made it home safely. He’s a hero for sure. :)

  11. 11

Looks like fun. How cold is it in DC. Looks coooooooooold. You two are brave.

  15. 15

I love the last picture, it’s so pretty!!!!

  16. 16

So, I had no idea that your brother was deployed. I cannot imagine how happy you must be to have him home for the holidays. Give him a big “thank you!” hug for me, please? :) xo

  17. 17

Great that he’s home, Anne, but don’t let that stop you from running him into the ground on the C&O! :-)

  18. 18

Anne, you look so pretty in that picture with your brother! Hope your break is going well, i’m going to sign up for DC soon!

  19. 19

Woohoo, glad Steve is home!! :)

  20. 20

How nice to have your brother home for the holidays! I love how this time of year brings everyone together :).

  21. 21

Wow I miss that trail :( This time last year was my first run on it, and it looked pretty similar to that…with a few rainy puddles thrown into the mix ;)

SO EXCITED that you’re doing National, too!! And so very happy for your Fam that the Bro is home safely. xo

  22. 23

    Yay for having him back!!!

Love the C&O Canal, but have only been in the spring/summer/fall. My favorite is the Billy Goat trail and rock scrambles. Love the shirt!

i am planning on running a half in may!
