Happy April Fools Day! Anyone have any good pranks planned? 🙂

No pranks from me today, but I will give you a good laugh by showing you my official race photos from the D.C. National Half Marathon last weekend! Actually, the official photos from this race weren’t all that bad — wayyy better than the death-like ones from my first half marathon, that’s for sure! Here’s one from the beginning of the race with the Washington Monument in the background — see me racing around the curve?

Apparently everyone wears blue to races. Mental note — wear bright orange or pink next time!

Here’s two slightly awkward close ups — no idea why I’m so excited in the second one, but the double chin look is pretty hot, if I do say so myself.

race3

race4

Here’s one of me finishing, except… you actually can’t even see me because that that dumb guy is completely blocking me, lol.

race2

Ah, finally, some cute ones! Right after I finished I headed to their official photo area and got a few shots snapped with my medal — super cute!

race5

race6

Might actually buy one of those, we’ll see 🙂

If you ran the race (or another race recently), how did your photos come out?

—–

Anyway! I have another delicious packed lunch to share with you all 🙂

019

The star was this HUGE salad full of greens from a farmers market some of my classmates organized and held at school earlier this week!

002

The greens are SO delicious — super crunchy and fresh and hearty. I added in some fresh spinach from the farmers market, too — it’s been awhile since I’ve had real spinach instead of just baby spinach! It was a nice change 🙂

I topped the salad with leftover Brussels sprouts:

003

Kidney beans:

004

And some avocado:

008

For a dressing, I whipped up a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, and salt and pepper:

009

I did about 2 parts lemon, 2 parts mustard, and 1 part olive oil, and then added some cracked sea salt and pepper to taste. I mixed it all in a little baggie and threw it into the top of the salad tupperware!

010

To go with lunch, I packed a serving of crackers and a laughing cow cheese wedge:

017

I love these Back to Nature crackers! They taste just like Triscuits 🙂

016

And I also threw in a kiwi and a clementine to end lunch with something sweet!

012

As for afternoon snacks (I spent all day on campus in the library studying biochem, boo), I packed a Chobani pineapple Greek yogurt:

011

And a Larabar!

018

Delish 🙂

I’m off to Biochem class and then spending the whole day in the library again — we have a biochem test on Monday morning, gah! I’ve decided I need to study in the library more often — I was SO productive yesterday not surrounded by all sorts of distractions like when I study here at home.

Have a great Friday — go play some April Fools pranks 🙂

Boo to the guy who blocked your finish line photo! But your post-race pictures are adorable. It's funny that you said you should wear pink next time – when I was trying to find friends after the race, I felt like EVERY girl I saw was wearing pink (myself included). I think I need to go for tie dye next time! Hehe. Congratulations again on a great race. So glad we got to meet!

For one of the close ups (the one on the left) I remember seeing the photographer and smiling - I didn't see any of the others though!

Your race finish photo made me smile. The same thing happened to me when I ran the Army Ten Miler, except the guy blocking me was my boyfriend....

You look so happy in your race photos! I look notoriously awful/pained/hideous in race photos. The only one I ever really liked was taken during the bike course of my triathlon in September. I saw the photographer before I reached him (he wasn't hiding like photographers often do!) and forced myself to smile pretty for him. I got one great shot, but it was WAY too expensive to buy it. Your medal shots are particularly cute!

Just don't wear orange to a Portland race - everyone wears orange there! I'm pretty sure every "official" race photo I've seen of me is horrible ... good thing I married a photographer who knows my best angles ;)

My friend is a manager, showed up to work, and it appeared all the other employees didn't make it to work on a Friday....but they had parked across the street. That must have looked hilarious to see their boss looking all around confused! :)

that's my favorite type of dressing to make, myself! I like making your own dressings so you can control the added salt, plus it's cheaper!

M April fool's joke from my husband to me was."Our other son, who is deployed, wanted to know if his wife and 3 kids could move in with us for about 6 months." I almost croaked. We already have one daughter in law and 3 kids living with us until #1 son gets home. I didn't think it was funny. He said my smile turned upside down.

Love the race photos -- especially that you actually look happy, vice exhausted, in them. Well done! Can't say that I ever accomplished that feat. So, congrats (and run harder next time!). And what a great sounding lunch!

My recent and first half marathon pictures turned out pretty good. The finish picture worked better them yours without the crowd of people around to block the shot but I guess that is what you get when you finish in 3hrs.
